Saniya was getting more used to her new home. She was still feeling pretty disconnected, but she knew that was because the place was just so different from the one she had known. She had grown up never knowing if she would be killed that day or not- she had always been in fear for her life. Fighting and doing whatever was needed to survive. Those skills she had learned... she didn't need them anymore. She was in a peaceful place. It made her a little unsure of herself.
But at least her brother was there with her. She knew she wasn't the only one feeling a little disconnected. But it seemed like he was adjusting better than she was.
She sighed, bending down to drink from a small pool of water. It was cool and enjoyable and she took her time enjoying the taste of it. Even the water seemed better there.

It was a rare day where Bryne ventured away from her mate. It had taken them from cubhood to get to the point they were at now, but some days they just needed to spend apart - absence made the heart fonder and all that. Despite their time apart, however, Bryne was one for constant company.
If Vogel wouldn't join her, she'd find someone else to walk with - simple as that. The young lioness took to wandering for the day - she didn't have a need to scout, after all. There where enough on duty as it was.
She did, however, spot a lioness drinking not far off as she passed.
"Good Morning!" She greeted as she made her way past. It was possible this lioness was willing to join her for today.

Saniya looked over at the lioness who had spoken to her, her ears perked forward. It was very rare for her to speak with females, mostly because she didn't know how to deal with them. Where she had lived, females had not been allowed to speak. They had been treated as breeding tools only, and had not been considered beings. The only lionesses who could get ahead were the ones willing to act like men. Fighters. Warriors. Killers.
Not the kind you wanted to chat with.
"Good morning..." she said carefully, still a little concerned this lioness might try to attack to make a name for herself even though she knew she wasn't in the same place anymore. "Was this your water?"
Seaki
The other lioness looked wary to say the very least. It was near enough to make Bryne frown, but she didn't. She was concerned however, but made her way a tad bit closer. "Not at all," she shook her head. Despite it being far from her normal spot, and tiny, the water didn't belong to her.
The scout shifted on her feet, unsure of what to do next. "I don't own any of the water here - it belongs to the pride as a whole, I guess." She'd never seen the other female, but new members joined every day. She was sure she didn't know half the pride as it was, even having been born within it.
"Are you new here?"
Cajanic
"Oh, right," she chuckled faintly, relaxing a bit. Yes, everything belonged to the whole pride, she knew that. Sometimes it was just... difficult to let go of the life she had left behind. The one she had grown up suffering through, wishing for something better. Funny how that worked. She had something better and she was still thinking about her past. Caught up in it, even.
She tried to smile at the other female, not wanting to be rude.
"I'm not that new, actually," she replied lightly, "I've been here a few months. I just... well, I suppose it's a little difficult to adjust. What about you? Have you been here all your life? I've met many who have always lived here." She envied them. No tough pasts to worry about. But she couldn't change what she had already been through

Bryne smiled when the other lioness relaxed a bit. That could be a good sign after all. "I grew up here," she admitted. She couldn't imagine not being within the pride, though. It was like warmth on a cold night, and she couldn't imagine it being different. That's why she protected it at all costs.
"There's a steady mix of those who do and don't though. Many come because it's a safe place while the peace lasts." The young scout hadn't been born yet with the war with the Graveyard pack happened, that was before her time. She didn't know tragedy like this lioness did.
Cajanic
"It is very peaceful here," she chuckled faintly, "sometimes too peaceful. In all this quiet, I find myself thinking about my past a lot. Thinking about all the things that bothered me while I was out in the rogue lands. I want to get away from it, but even here, I can't seem to. I wonder if that means there's something wrong with me." She sighed softly and shook her head, looking down at the water again. Then she took a breath and looked back at the lioness once more.
"Anyway, enough about that- my name is Saniya," she told the other with a smile, "what's your name?"
She was happy that so many of the pride members were nice to her, even though she was such a weird creature. It seemed like they were all willing to help or get along with her in general. What made this pride such a nice place?
Seaki
Bryne was quite glad that the pridelands was sucha peaceful pride. It was the perfect place to raise a family, once she and Vogel decided to have a litter. She wanted that, though she was sure Vogel would be the more raising-the-cubs parent. She was often too focused on her work as a scout.
"My name is Bryne!" She returned the introduction, though they had already been talking for quite a bit. Perhaps she was a bit rude to not introduce herself at the beginning.
"How are you liking the pride, so far, if I may ask?"
Cajanic
Saniya smiled.
"It's nice to meet you, Bryne." She felt a little silly that she hadn't introduced herself in the beginning, but she had been so caught off guard just from seeing another female there. It had made her feel very insecure, and like she needed to defend herself. All the emotions from her former home coming back to haunt her. Not that it could REALLY be called a home. It was just a place where she had been tortured.
She looked a bit more thoughtful when the woman asked her how she was liking the pride. "Aside from being left alone to my thoughts a bit too much, I've been enjoying it," she replied, "it's a lovely place. Friendly and entirely different from the place I once knew. Plus, I was reunited with my brother here, something I never thought would happen. So I owe this place a lot, too." She chuckled faintly, wrapping her tail around her paws.

Bryne gave a bright smile, glad that the other was feeling even a little more comfortable. The Pridelands was a place to live at peace, with little worry about attacks and where the next meal mightcome from. They were careful only to hunt what they needed and leave the rest to replenish itself.
Everyone co-existed fairly peacefully and it was nice.
"It's nice to meet you as well, Saniya. I'm glad you were able to find your brother." She had siblings herself, and while they were sometimes a pain in her rear, they were family and she loved them to bits.
Cajanic
"Thank you, it was very exciting," hummed the lioness lightly. She was feeling much better now. She really needed to stop with her gloomy feelings. It wasn't good when she knew she was in such a great place.
"Well, I think I have better be going," she sighed softly, "I hope we can meet again! All this talking made me want to spend some time with my brother, though, so I think I'm going to try and find him." She offered the other a happy kind of smile before nodding her head and heading off to hunt down her brother.
She would find out how he was adjusting, and if he was doing as well as it seemed like he was.
