Fall was there to stay. Pros and cons. As Themiscyra bounded across rooftops in barely more than double layers of dresses, she was at least grateful the night wasn't quite as cold as it could be. She was fearing winter.

Winter was coming and it wasn't in the form of her lounging on the couch with popcorn.

But at least for now she could keep her blood pumping, adrenaline running. An energy signature had creeped into her senses as she'd been on a jogging patrol, one she was quick to scramble after. A youma. A freaking youma. Something to keep her moving and keep her warm for a moment or two.

It wasn't a youma.... hybrid thing. It wasn't a Negaverse Captain or General liable to maim her--further--and it wasn't some psycho higher up she had to be concerned about.

No it was just your run of the mill used-to-be-human-but-then-Chaos-happened youma.

Themiscyra had already decided she wasn't going to let herself get depressed by the realistic implications of it all, or the moral issues involved. She was just going to dust it--nothing else could be done at this point, after all.

Skidding across a first story roof, she caught sight of the creature. Elongated, reptilian--she was pretty sure it was mocking geckos in how it slithered across the walls of buildings. But it was so freaking silent... and really dark. And had stupidly long legs. She felt a shiver go down her spine and gagged, reminded of some of the creatures she'd see on the horror side of the internet with its overly lengthened limbs--almost spider-like in its movements. Ugh. Trying to fight against the thoughts of how many children this thing probably snatched from bedroom windows, she followed its train of movement.

Only to raise a brow at a shock of blonde hair further down the street. Glancing between the person and the youma, she was willing to bet what it was creeping after. Well s**t. Giving a snort, she backed up a few paces before setting off at a dash, leaping to the street without issue as she moved to get between the creeper youma and the civilian. "No worries, no worries, keep your head in the clouds. Super heroes are always lurkin' in this city," she called to the person with a laughing tone, keeping her attention largely on the youma scaling the side of the nearest building. It hissed upon seeing her--or maybe that was from the soda can she'd lifted from the trashcan to lob at its head.

Least it was looking down at her from the second story instead of trying to creep after the person.

"S... what?" Jaimie jerked his attention up from his cell phone with a jerk, surprised to see a blur of red and black and enthusiasm dash into his line of sight, following her gaze, and the arc of the can, to the Youma.

He'd been concentrating so hard on other things, like work, and avoiding certain powered individuals, he hadn't even thought about Youma, as though somehow he would be immune to being stalked by virtue of having power to tap, even if he didn't tap it, but apparently he was wrong.

"Well don't I feel dumb..." he muttered, stuffing the phone into a pocket of the worn, black wool overcoat, fishing with chilly fingers until he found the curve of a pen he carried and rued all at once.

"Regulus Eternal Make up!"

If nothing else, it was definitely the most resentful sounding power up to come out of a senshi's mouth in some time, and the irritable looking blond senshi that stood there in the wake of the transformation looked downright pissed off and maybe embarrassed to be standing there in his neat little brown coat and double tailed lion bow.

"How about I give you a hand to make up for not paying attention?" He offered. "I mean, if you need it..."

Really, she'd been expecting some objections of her declaration of heroes being around, or maybe shouting, or someone running away. Or maybe nothing at all if the person was that oblivious. But for the footsteps to stop falling, and him saying-- well she missed whatever he first said, but the transformation phrase had her whipping her head around pretty damn fast.

Jamie might have been feeling a little dumb, unbeknownst to her, but Themiscyra was feeling pretty damn idiotic herself in that moment.

"....like I said, super heroes are always lurkin' in the city," she mumbled, blinking a few times as the light settled and there stood.... yep. A butt-bowed Eternal. Her lips pursed a little, and if she could have side-eyed the far stronger energy signature, she would have. Semi scolding someone only to find out they are, in fact, far stronger than you is a tad awkward. Especially when he didn't look all that cheery to be there. Uh. Oops?

Still, she peered at the midrift jacket and actual lion-looking bow tails and... "Senshi of Lions?" She was trying to remember where she'd heard the name Regulus before, and when all she could pin-point was one of the Black family members from Harry Potter she decided to drop it for the moment. Astronomy wasn't her thing.

Yet she grinned despite the awkwardness, finally taking into account that the Eternal was offering to get rid of the youma. The Page straightened from her slight crouch, gesturing to the approaching creature that skuttled across the side of the building towards them. "If you can get it from afar. I can't do range, only close-up." Not that seemed like it'd be an issue for long. Thing was moving pretty quick.

"Pride actually." He admitted, eyeing the gecko like creature. "I know, sounds like I should be hanging out with Senshi's of Gluttony and Lust and what not right?"

He decided not to mention, at least not now, that he actually did know the Senshi of Lust, because he already felt like a joke.

"I think I can get it down within range. Maybe." Real gecko's were supposed to have crazy grip, but this one was a Youma, so it was hard to tell how far it's ability to replicate the actual animal went.

"Summon the Prince!" He didn't linger longer than that on discussion, since they didn't want it to get away, and let loose with his only minimally effective eternal attack, a spectral, blueish lion thundering toward the Youma, in an attack he hoped would knock it off the side of the building... hopefully without too much collateral damage. He hadn't ever actually fired it -at- a structure before.

Pride? Well ok. She could see the various puns the cosmic tailor decided to throw in on that one. Assuming he'd probably heard all the jokes and had all the obvious points pointed out to him repeatedly, she instead decided to focus on another thing he'd said. "I've meet Ganymede, so uh.... Gluttony a joke or is there a legit senshi for that?" Sure the whole thing was probably meant as a joke, but since she did know the Eternal Senshi of Lust... uh.

Kinda hard to not be curious what else existed.

Themiscyra stepped back, making sure she was well out of his attack's range--or so she hoped. The maybe got a sharp look from the Page, though. Maybe? Was he new to his magic or something then? She didn't think senshi had many issues with their magic, least no one had ever complained to her about any problems. Though that could easily be just her lack of knowing a lot of senshi but.... still. She stayed back, keeping her eyes flickering between the youma and the senshi.

She watched with keen interest though as an ethereal lion went charging right after the youma. He sure he wasn't the senshi of lions? Looked very cool though, that much she would happily give the senshi. The creature did the trick, managing to reach just high enough to cause the creature to let out a hissing cry. The heat and force of the lion caused the youma to shake its head as it let out it's cry, leaping from the building side to get away from the spectral lion. For a moment when it landed, it seemed to hunker down--and Themiscyra squinted, wondering if she was indeed seeing the creature's hide steaming a little from where it was closest to the lion.

"Well hey, it worked, no maybe about it!" She shot a grin to the senshi before she bolted into the youma, taking advantage of its state to crack her heeled sandal down on the creature's head. Not that it appreciated that, and she had to scramble to get out of the way of one of it's extremely long legs. "Got any other tricks~?"

"Oh you've met? Cool. Used to know him back in the day." He hadn't talked to Paris in such an long time, he had no idea of the faux pas he was making regarding her pronouns. "I do actually." He admitted. "This one's a bit better even."

He was much more familiar with the Claws attack, and the damage they did, and he waved off the wondering if she'd met Europa part.

"Found out the hard way there's no 'delayed throw' though." He added, in self depreciating humor before he Drew back his hands.

"Noble Claws of the Lion!"

If he ever did meet a Senshi of Lions, he was probably going to get some serious side eying for infringing on their sphere with his attack names, but that was less of a concern than his aim. He'd been practicing, but there was still only so much he could do for something h literally had to throw pretty much immediately.

"Man and I thought lizards liked heat." He joked, and was fairly pleased with his joke. "At least more than boot-to-the-head."

The other woman at least sure knew how to fight, he didn't think he'd met someone like her up close before, though he'd seen, and felt, Nehelina's Cavaliers. Or maybe he'd just forgotten. He'd had his head so far in the sand lately...

....er.... what? "Her." Themiscyra's brow furrowed as she stilled, willing to ignore the youma for the short moment it took to give the senshi a highly... well. Confused look. "Paris is a woman." That was the way Paris had always presented to her anyways, at least to her understanding. Valhalla had first mentioned Ganymede to Themiscyra as his wife, using female pronouns, and Paris herself had never corrected Danika in how she referred to the blonde. Had she.... jumped to her own conclusions then about Paris..?

She gave a quick nod then to hear the man still had more magic to use, backing up from the youma to give him space. Course, she gave him a curious look what the delayed throw was about. Got a concept though as flaming blades went flying from his hands out to the youma, the creature letting out a sickening cry as the blades pierced its hide. Flames erupted around its long body, and Themiscyra let out a whistle before laughing. "Dude, they like heat, but you kinda kicked it from 'basking in the sunlight' to 'country fried chicken.' Think that might have been it's objection."

The creature trashed and tried to scramble towards them.... but just like that, the fires consumed it. The youma let out one last roar before it vanished into dust, and the Page frowned a little. What made youma take on so many different shapes, if they'd once been human?

Shaking her head, she looked back to her momentary partner with a grin. "You should have used that second one first! Take it that's your Eternal magic then~?"

"Well you said knock it down..." Jaimie offered, sheepishly, turning a red that would have done credit to the fire on the youma, and was glad for it to be night. "...And uh. No. It's... not. The first one is."

And Paris?

"Sorry... She?" He hoped it would distract from the absolutely miserable attack. "Sorry, didn't know. Last time I saw Paris was ages ago, we were part of a loonnnng gone team and called ourselves the Basterds, and Paris was attending Hillworth with me, and was the only kid in school I know of who got away with wearing patent leather heels instead of the uniform footwear." He hoped that explained the confusion anyway. "Never got told to call Paris 'she' before, sorry. I'll try and switch it up."

He offered a hand to her, since it seemed the most reasonable thing to do. "But, uh, yeah. Hi. Nice to meet you, I'm Regulus... or... uh. Jaimie if you prefer."

Themiscyra laughed outright, a cheeky grin sliding into place. Though she couldn't see his face super well in the night, she definitely caught the tone of his voice. "I'm not the one complaining. The youma, on the other hand..." She snickered as she glanced to where the creature had been writhing moments before, dust now scattered to... wherever.

For a moment, she chose to ignore the very.... interesting comment he made about her assumptions on his attacks. She'd get to that later. Approaching steadily, she gave a small shrug. "I never ask many questions about Paris' past, all I know is the kickass chick I met and helped my sorry a** a good few times." A small part of her felt strange hearing these things about Paris without her permission, and more so.... unsure if she should tell Paris about the encounter. It was her story to tell, not this guy's, even if it did clear up the confusion... Themiscyra winced. Not for the information itself. Only how it came up. "I mean... I get it now. But hey, least you know for any future encounters."

Taking the offered hand, she tried to push past the awkward conversation they'd gotten into. Considering he offered his civilian name as well... hey, fair's fair. "Themiscyra of Mars. Also known as Danika," she added with a grin before pulling back to cross her arms loosely. "So. Spectral lion was your Eternal? It better with shorter range or something?" It... hadn't been as effective as his second attack, and her understanding of senshi was that the effect should have been opposite. Not that she got to talk to many senshi about their magic, mind you.

Far as she was concerned, perfect learning opportunity.

"Er... honestly? No.It's just... It's never been awesome." Regulus heaved a deep sigh. "It's just not that strong. I'm the only senshi I know of who's attacks got weaker."

Not much to be proud of, for being the senshi of Pride.

"I dunno, maybe it's the universe making fun of me for freaking out the first time you threw an attack. I didn't expect it to slice up the girl I pitched it at. I mean... she didn't die or anything, but it felt like overkill for some goofy girl with a giant squeaky hammer."

She paused and cocked a brow, head tilting slightly as she took that in. That..... wasn't exactly a problem she'd heard of before. Not that she had a wealth of information, mind you, her experiences were extremely limited. But that it was a possibility.... concerned her for a number of reasons.

"If you're talking about attacking a Negaverse agent, then I doubt it. Universe wants balance, far as I can tell from what the Code was saying, and it ain't our fault knights and agents seem to start with--sometimes literally--short sticks for weapons." Was she bitter towards the senshi? Nah. She just didn't quite get why the differences existed.

"Can you.... I donno, is there a difference you feel between the two attacks?" She paused, biting her lip as she tried to think about where her own thoughts were going. What was the core behind senshi magic? Knight magic seemed to be largely tied to the knight's wonder, and their own.... ability? Least that's the gist she got from Valhalla. "Maybe you're just doing it wrong. I don't see why the universe would nerf your a** right as you got to the top tier, y'know?"

Ryuthulhu
PostPosted: Mon Nov 10, 2014 7:24 am

"I... have no idea what the Code is." Regulus admitted, with a confused, owlish blink. "There's... well, the Eternal one uses a lot more energy, and there's heat, and I can only do it once a night, but that's about it. I mean, on the plus side it doesn't burn me if I stop and try and aim or... you know... not throw it. I don't know if it's possible to actually summon it wrong... but... then again... I don't know, right?" He raked his fingers through his hair and looked embarrassed.

Maybe she was right, maybe he was doing it wrong somehow.Maybe he really was just a shitty senshi, and should stay retired.

"Knight's Code. Magical, non-corporeal thing on Olumpus on Mars. Talks a lot about trying to bring balance to the universe, but what's both the best part and the worst is it acknowledges balance can be brought through both war and peace so there's still no clear go that way young wanderer path for any of us," she informed him in the perhaps most bare bones explanation someone could have given of the Code. It wasn't that she didn't like it, rather she didn't think this was the best time to be talking all about the strange... pseudo-guide.

Still, Themiscyra's arms crossed, peering him up and down as he talked about his attack. "Ok so that's more the... magic mechanics, I guess. But what do you feel? I mean. Your sphere is Pride isn't it? Do you feel different using the different attacks? I mean, not to be a b***h here--" Which Themiscyra fully realized meant she likely was being one. "--but you're not sounding super prideful about your magic. Isn't senshi magic all entirely based on your sphere?" She was probably reaching for straws, with no understanding of how senshi magic worked. But wasn't that kinda the point of themed magic? Least that was her own hope for her eventual knight magic. She was a knight of Mars, the red planet named for a god of war. She was kinda putting money on that being a thing when she got magic!

"Oh my god that sounds so weirdly Jedi." he almost had to laugh about it, except that it was literally their lives this thing was talking about. The rest of what she said, however, hit him like a punch in the gut.

His sphere was pride, but he didn't feel proud of being a Senshi. He couldn't remember the last time he'd felt really proud of being a senshi. He just sort of limped through, tried not to cause catastrophic property damage... and that was it.

"I'm uh... Not... I guess. Proud I mean." He admitted. "And I don't know, I haven't met as many of the newer senshi as I guess I could. I've... been keeping my head down."

He started to explain, then realized 'my family cut me off and aren't talking to me and my girlfriend dumped me and my friend hasn't talked to me since our date didn't work' sounded pretty ******** pathetic compared to 'there are actual literal lives on the line'. So did 'I didn't get warned my magic would actually hurt people'.

"I just... like... never... EVER Actually physcially hurt someone on purpose before that first night. Not even in Hillworth. I mean obviously I was no goddamn angel, I was a stupid a*****e, but... it was hard to be proud of that. I'd say I had a bad experience being a senshi but then... who the hell as a good one?"
