Things could've been better, Octobre thought.
Things really could've been better...
What a dull day. Not a single thing had happened in the way that she wanted them to.
The full moon seemed to glare down at her, and for a moment she glared back up at it. She closed her eyes and let out a long, tired sigh. Was it really so difficult to get what she wanted? A sip of blood here, a sip of blood there...why were people so damned protective of their blood? Such a small, trivial amount of it, too. All the secrecy was tiring, but necessary. Since every creature she'd encountered seemed so possessive of their crimson fluids, she'd had to come up with clever ways to deceive them. But her stories were repeating too often. She was beginning to form a small, twisted little knot in her chest--fear of discovery. Someone was going to find out sooner or later that the stories she'd been telling were lies. It wasn't so much the discovery that bothered her, but the possible negative consequences that would follow. She needed to be more clever, more creative. But that was just it--the one thing she hated the most. The one thing she didn't want to face. An unavoidable fact about herself.
She wasn't capable of being more creative.
With a wistful sort of sigh, she cast her eyes half-lidded to a line of trees nearby, for a moment almost hoping some ravenous monster would burst through the leaves and devour her whole.
Ugh, she was being pitiable again, wasn't she? How unattractive...

UrĂºvion himself was in a bit of a funk and had been having a pretty terrible day. He had not seen anything beautiful aside from himself in some time and it was really bringing him down. So it was a miracle - nay, a blessing - when he spotted the mare on the other side of the trees. He watched her for some time; taking in her beauty. Bloodied as she may be, there was something beautiful even in that.
He stepped out of the trees, clearing his throat to announce his presence. "What would have someone so beautiful as you so saddened, my dear?" He called, eying her with a grin. She had improved his mood greatly and he was even know picturing what trinket he would gift her.

The voice cutting through the silence caught Octobre by such surprise that her neck twinged with pain as it snapped in the speaker's direction. Ouch. But she kept her expression intact with the full force of her concentration. It was dark, but not dark enough that she couldn't see the one who had called out to her. His talons gave her pause, but his lavish hair and floral adornments gave him a nonthreatening appearance. And it was only a second later that the stallion's words registered.
Beautiful?
He thought her beautiful, did he?
Hmph...
Well...
"Did I really look that sad?" she asked, a single brow rising in skepticism, mostly because she had nothing else to say in response. She knew full well that she had been looking extremely sorry for herself. It was unfortunate that she had been seen, but there was nothing she could do about it now.
