It was the middle of the day and Annuskha was a few hours into her grazing. Which, quite frankly, was all she did. With no one out here to talk to and little predators bothering her, she had plenty of time to taste all the delicious vegetation that the world had to offer her. The sweet flowers and the lovely ferns and the grass that never grew old to her taste buds.
Of course, the reason predators didn't bother her was probably the faint smell Torrhen always left on her. Just being near her was enough for her body to absorb it, ensuring she was left alone like some precious property by the highest ranking of their kind. And perhaps he was of a higher rank. Sometimes he spoke of who he was. His past that he kept secret from everyone. She was mute and didn't know how to write, she guessed it made him feel like a weight was lifted from his shoulders if he confided, even just a little, to her. Knowing she had no way of telling anyone else what he said. Not that she wanted to. The deer mare wasn't interested in gossip. He did nothing to harm her or anyone else, she couldn't think of a reason she would need to spill information about him.
He was gone, now. Off to wherever it was he went. It would be a lie to say she missed him. The company was nice, but it didn't feel like he came for her. Just to say what he needed and leave until the next time he needed a confession.
Funny. She had been tossed from her family herd for not being white and thus fitting into the strictly spiritual views of the herd, yet here she was serving some spiritual occupation for someone. Silently she laughed at the idea.
