The large blue lion with a bright red mane stretched and began his trek up the mountain side. Every day Drury tried to climb a little further than he had the day before. He loved to push himself and see how high he could go. Though he didn't like to get onto the narrow passageways, they seemed dangerous and he worried about the ground slipping out underneath his feet.

The only place that Drury got any sense of happiness was when he was atop the mountains. Where he could look down and see for miles. It was nice to see all of the world as far as his eyes could see.

Suzume walked tenderly along the mountain path. Everything in her step was light and just like her new name the lioness really felt as if she could fly away. That was secretly why she loved the mountains so much. Being up here it was like she really was a bird with the wind brushing her fur and lifting her higher. It was refreshing to say the least to climb as high as possible rather than cower down on the ground.

I love it so much.

Still it was awkward for her to turn a corner and spot another lion. Who else would be up this high? Flushing she peered towards him right before accidentally scattering a tiny horde of pebbles down the path, "Oops." Her gaze widening slightly at her mistake the lioness took a slow step back. Suzume just hoped that she wasn't disturbing the male with her own personal walk in the sky.

Drury turend and the voice of pebbles going down the mountain side. Worried that one of his movements had caused the pebbles to go down the mountain. One of the risks he took being up here was that if he caused an avalanche he could bury his home below him. He wasn't sure he cold ever live with that. He shuffled his feet away from the edge.

He saw the brown female standing not far from where he was, "You should be careful" he said his voice was flat. He hadn't talked to anyone in days really and wasn't all that good at social interactions, all his family had left the pride he was on his own now.

Well...he seemed friendly. Suzume just tilted her head in confusion at his warning. Was that because he wanted her to be safe or to just keep her away from him? She shook her head, "That's no fun though." Suzume smiled faintly, "I know these paths well so I'm always safe~"

"But you really can't feel the breeze if you hide along the base and just tip toe along." She strode forward and stuck a determined paw on a loose edge of a rock that jutted off the path. It was solid she knew by the way it pressed into the earth around them. But any other might have second thoughts about hovering that far over the mountain side, "It feels better to reach out this way~" On cue a breeze rippled past brushing her fur.

Drury smiled he had to admit that it did look nice having the wind ruffle her fur that way. He could imagine that if the wind ruffled his fur that way it would almost look like his winged markings were flapping.

"I only mean to be careful not to cause an avalanche on the pride below." He didn't call it home or anything else, he just called it the pride below.

He looked at the female he didn't want to be cole or distant to her, it was just that he didn't know how to interact. As a cub he had been so cuddly and social a ball of energy and now he was this big ball of mopey lion.

"Ah." Suzume looked down and nodded, "I guess that's possible. Though it'd take a lot of effort to bring down a whole mountain." She smirked over towards him before gliding from the rock and back onto the path.

She tilted her head towards him after a moment's thought, "You act as if you don't associate with the pride though?" The lioness frowned, "Surely I've seen you around a few times now. Isn't this your home too?" Her tail twitched behind her. A part of her wanted to ask him why so down, but another was patient and waiting.

Maybe if she waited she could get a real smile out of this lion just yet.

"It is my home." he admitted looking down upon the pride with a detached look. "But it doesn't feel like home." Drury had stopped thinking of the swamps as home back when they were still the swamps, his mother had died and he was alone. When it had been time to make the pilgrimage he had followed along with everyone else thinking that when they got to the new location that things would feel better, but he had had no such luck.

"Have you ever felt out of sorts, out of place like you just don't belong?" he asked turning to look at the brown lioness. He wondered if she could understand his feelings, if perhaps someone else felt the same as him

Suzume's gaze softened, "Oh." She knew the feeling herself some days. Even with family around the lioness had found something new in her pilgrimage and that new identity clashed with the memories of being Jalila. That sweet cub was gone and now the playful lioness standing here felt like a stranger to herself some days.

"That's a shame. No lion should feel like they have no home." She looked over at him and paused at his question, "Silly, I suppose so though. Maybe more lions have that moment than you think." She smiled lightly, "My home is in the sky after all, yet my paws connect me to the ground forcing it to be my home."

The lioness took a few steps closer towards him to study him, "But what is it that makes you so out of sorts? Surely there's something that can make you feel like you belong. I don't see anything wrong with ya after all." He looked normal to her with a healthy frame and nothing dangerous in his gaze. Her own petite frame easily made it possible for her to be a shadow to the lions who loomed over her. But he...didn't look so bad. She flushed at the thought, "As it is you should perk up a bit? Too much mopey is bad for you."

"If it helps...." She paused and looked over at him thoughtfully, "I can listen to ya if you want. I know having someone can sometimes help."

Drury gave the female a genuine smile for the first time in their encounter. She was kind and obviously cared about him, even though she didn't even know his name, and he hadn't even asked her his.

"My name is Drury." He told her thinking that perhaps she should at least know his name before he spilled his should to her.

"I would love to have you listen to me sometime but today I think I need to head back down the mountain perhaps we can meet here again tomorrow?" he had a hopeful look in his eyes. He was pretty sure that she would meet him again.

"Suzume." She smiled towards him, "I'm now Suzume." The lioness made a face towards him, "That odd name that took over what I used to be." Teasingly the lioness beamed towards him. Something about seeing a real smile had taken her off guard, but at the same time made her immensely happy. So it was possible for the mope to smile!

Suzume pouted just a little bit before nodding, "Alright then. You head on down and I'll be roaming around here somewhere tomorrow~ It's a promise." She smiled one last time towards him before moving further along the path and disappearing in the rocky heights.
