It wasn't yet midnight, but Iki'renkli was returning early from a singularly fruitless hunt. Not a bird, nor a rodent, nor even a worm had been seen, and she was absolutely frustrated. Well, that was the young Huntress' attitude most of the time anyway, especially after that futile attempt to get her grandfather to explain anything to her. Fuming as she was, Iki, failed to notice a rock in the path, and nearly stumbled over it. The black lioness paused, glaring at the offending stone, before whacking it out of her way, flying off into the night. Everything was terrible. Everything.

Boinedal was having an amazing night, it was only recently that his parents had begun to let his siblings and him wonder a little on their own, as long as they stayed within the pride obviously. So naturally the young male was making the most of this new found freedom and getting out there.
He had scurried along many path ducking out of the way when he saw an adult, he didn't want anyone to tell him what to do. He was having a great time till a rock came soaring over his head, he ducked though in truth the rock had been quite high above him, and let out a little yelp.

Iki had thought no more about the rock until she heard a squeal. Glaring she looked up...and had to pause. Purple eyes fell on a cub just as purple, though not in the same shade as the King, and so not likely related to him. The black lioness noted the boy's tail and ankle markings and realized what family he belonged to - a large one that connected to just about the whole pride, but was not generally important in and of itself.
The Huntress snorted.
"Go home to your mommy," she sneered, not at all interested in wasting time on some kid.

Boinedal frowned and put his ears back when the adolescent female told him off. "You go home to your mommy." he shouted back. His parents of course had taught him not to be rude and to mind his manners, but he hadn't done anything wrong and this lioness was being mean. After all she had been the one to toss a rock his way, while he was minding his own business.
"I was here first you know." he told her. He did his best to puff out his chest a little and stand tall. He of course was still tiny compared to her but he was going to stand his ground despite his small size.

The lioness eyed the cub disdainfully. "I really don't care where you were, or when, or why," she informed the boy coldly. "So why don't you go home and hide behind your mommy and daddy while you still have the chance? Before you're old enough to have a rank and have to live in the real world?"
To be fair, Iki didn't really want to go back to cowering behind her parents' legs, but that was more due to her disillusionment than her maturity. At this point in time, she'd already moved out of the den and was working on not speaking to them.
She was quite mature. By some standards. And much less so by others.

The young purple club glared back at the female, he wasn't going to back down he didn't care what she said. "No I have just as much right to be here as you do, and you can't tell me otherwise." he said planting his rear on the ground making it clear he wasn't going anywhere.
"What make you think you are so important anyways, you aren't that much older than me you aren't even an adult." he pointed out. Sure if an adult had told him to go home he would have but she wasn't an adult.

Iki watched the boy give her mouth and attitude. Later, she'd reflect that he might have been something like she was at that age. But for the moment, the lioness was not at all in a mood to deal with some idiot cub.
"I don't give a s**t what right you have. I'm nobody as far as the pride's concerned - not from the high class, not from the low class, and I don't have any special rank. But you will get out of my way," the lioness hissed, reaching out with one forepaw to push the cub onto his back and out of her path.

The lioness really didn't push him that had but Boinedal was caught off guard and found himself falling over on to his back his legs all up in the air. He felt like a fool. He scrambled to his feet as quickly as he could and turned back towards the female. "If you had asked me to move I would have, I don't care if you leave I just didn't want to go home." his voice was quivering slight still in shock from being pushed over but he wasn't whining.
"You know if you were nice other's might do more for you." he told her. He didn't much care for the lioness, nor did he want to be friends with her for any reason. But he also wasn't going to let her bully him. Just because he was younger didn't mean he was worthless, he would grow to be bigger than her after all, she should be nice to him now so that he didn't come and sit on her later.

The Huntress' only response was yet another snort. There was no reason for her to ask him to move, just as there was no reason for him to block her path. She had simply applied proper and literal leverage to get the cub out of her way.
"Stop whining to me, only your mommy wants to hear it," Iki'renkli sneered at the boy as she pushed past him. "And Great Lion only knows why she loves you enough to care."
Truly, it was a mystery why lionesses sacrificed so much of their lives to bring obnoxious cubs like this into the world. But the black female was only an adolescent, and she knew it would be a good long time before she had any of her own. If that ever happened, which it was looking less likely by the night.
Dumb kids.

Boinedal watched the lioness go, he shook her head. In his opinion, which admittedly wasn't worth much, it wasn't right to approach the world with such anger and hostility. The encounter could have gone completely different if she had been just a little nicer.
Oh well no point in being upset about it now he thought. He rose to his feet and trotted away in the opposite direction of the dark colored female. He wasn't likely to forget the female, in fact he hoped their paths would cross again when he was bigger than her perhaps he would pus her over on her rear. For now though he wasn't going to worry about it he was going to enjoy the rest of the freedom he had for the night.
