Welcome to the Quest Board. Here you will be able to request a task, or take on a task that is already provided for you.
Signing up for Foundries is actually fairly simple. Just post in the quest you're interested in with your teammates name along with any other information requested by the quest description. There are, however, a few things everyone should know about the Foundry system before embarking on their first Quest.
Literacy Level:
Every Foundry has a preset literacy level. The three levels are as follows: Novice, Standard, Advanced. This doesn't necessarily represent the challenge of the quest, but rather how long each post is required to be. Novice indicates every post must be at least one paragraph long. Note that this is a literate+ guild and this is the minimum. Average is between one, and three paragraphs each. This may seem similar to Novice except that some two paragraph posts are expected. Advanced requires every post to be a minimum of five paragraphs with great detail added in. Do not sign up for advanced tasks unless you can maintain this length.
The Task Itself:
"Okay so I signed up, now what?" you may be asking yourself. After applying to the task, you will have to wait until all remaining slots are filled. Then whomever originally started the quest will put the quest in Inactive Foundries showing all spots are full, and should edit the post to say Active Foundries. At this point the quest has started and members should keep ooc chat to a minimum. If you are the first person posting in an Active Foundry, the best strategy is just to get your character to the meet up point. Another useful tip is to remember, if it doesn't specify any specifics in the quest, anything goes. Just be sure not to do anything that disproves a prior post.
Activity:
As you gradually complete the Foundry, alongside your fellow members, you may notice someone who fails to reply after a few days. Or, perhaps something came up which prevented you from completing a task you're a part of. In either case, the general rule is; three days. Exactly 72 hours after the last post it is acceptable to skip that person's turn. If they have a particularly crucial role (an npc for instance) after a week of inactivity they will lose their position and the role will reopen. In either case the person in question will forfeit their points.
Rewards:
This brings us to points. As mentioned in the Subforum Getting Started, should you complete a Foundry, you will earn points to distribute into your skill tree. It is always important to remember that; you can only take 1 Foundry quest per week. In other words; if you took a Foundry quest this week, then you cannot take other until next week. The reasoning for this is: If you could have all the skills in your class maxed out, then what would be the point of role playing if you can easily take over everything? That's why I want to keep it reasonable.
Other Rules:
Having read the above, you should be just about ready to start in your first Foundry Quest. There are just a few minor rules you should know.
1. No killing your own party members. If someone decides it is time for their character to die, they'll rp their own character being killed.
2. Keep it PG-13 or at least close to it. Basically follow gaia guidelines. No offensive or sexual content please. I don't mind it, but please take it to the Pm's.
3. No god modding. This means you can only control you're own character! I cannot stress this enough! If you are fighting another guild mate, you cannot control what he does, only control your character!
