He had a folder in his hand that he was supposed to deliver to Mark (some attendant in the Death offices had shoved it into his hands without actually asking him and more like ordering him), which meant that Gale found himself, not for the first time, standing just outside the Death Assistant's office.
He wondered if he was going to regret this.
(Spoiler: The answer was yes he was definitely going to regret this.)
With a sigh, Gale lifted a hand and knocked on the door once before reaching to fiddle with the doorknob and push the office door open.
"Mark? You in here?"

"No!" came Mark's immediate reply, as he continued typing madly on his computer, because rp tags were very important and time consuming and midgets should be placed where midgets belong.
There was a bit of a long pause.
"Wait, yes!" the Death assistant corrected (himself), typing a few more key words before smacking enter with the force of a thousand nerdlings. He looked somewhere between miffed and dejected, though dejected was a perpetual state for him. With a huge, dramatic sigh, he leaned back against his swivel chair and sighed just as dramatically, twice for good measure.
"Hey kid," said Mark, leaning to one side of his swivel chair so that his neck was craned awkwardly against the top and his head was tilted to face Gale, "do you think I'm sexy?"

Mark saying he wasn't in the office just meant that he was in the office and so Gale pushed the door open more fully, a look of mingled exasperation and dry amusement on his face and waited patiently for the Death assistant to actually acknowledge him.
Then he wished he hadn't.
There was another long pause.
"What."

"No homo," Mark corrected, suddenly alarmed there would be homo. "So like, I was talking to someone totally not as hot as me, who was a hot chick by the way so like, no homo and stuff, and they were like my Deus hotness rating has dropped because I'm not with the times."
The with the times was put in air quotes.
"But the problem is I'm totally with the times so the solution is they obviously don't appreciate true plus ten hotness." It was nice to see the Death assistant had solved the entire problem with a single what from Gale.
He typed for a little longer, some long essay forum post about how some person off the interwebs didn't appreciate his hotness, and some machismo sentence about girls being an inferior species before turning back to Gale.
"Oh, you're still here. Wait, are you here for the mission?"

Gale rolled his eyes into infinity.
(It kind of hurt.)
"...okay..." he said slowly, staring at Mark as he tried to figure out who on earth the hot chick that had told him he was even on a 'hot' list was because they must have been blind. "So...so your...hotness level - " (It took a great amount of effort just to get that out without looking disgusted) " - has dropped because people don't understand you? Is that what you're saying?"
He kept staring even as Mark turned back to his computer, holding the files in his hand, and was still staring when Mark turned around yet again.
Gale blinked. "Uh. Mission? Uh..."
Please let it not be a Caelius involved mission for the love of all that was holy -
(Mark missions were not much better.)zoobey how do u even phone tag all the time
