Name: Xibath
Size: Average
Build: Slim
Personality: Self-Confidant, Thorough, Serene
Zealous, Immoral, Unrepentant
Dreamy is often the first word that comes to mind when someone meets the quiet Xibath. She has a calm, unflappable charm that is hard to resist. Listen to her words though and you'll begin to see an entirely different dragon. One who's depths go far deeper than that serene exterior hints at. Look far enough and you might even see the tunnelsnakes nest that lies within her very heart.
Xibath is passionately devoted to the idea of the wherholds. She holds the belief that the world outside of their home is deeply corrupted and she, her rider, and every loyal member of the wherholds must do everything within their power to set things right. They are the shining examples of all things good in the world and if they have any love in their hearts, they must act and expose the lies of the Weyrs. The people of Pern must be saved from themselves and if they cannot be saved, then they must be excised like green from a hold by any means necessary. She won't think twice about taking a life or sacrificing her own towards the greater good of the wherholds.
She's not one to blindly preach while she chews a wherry bone. Xibath is a thorough planner and believer in to be is to do. Should the wherholds ever move on Trine or another weyr as they did in the past, Xibath will be right there, swearing her loyalty to the cause and knowing beyond any doubt that what they do is
right. What harm results from their actions is unfortunate but necessary and death on both sides will be mourned even as her claws taste blood. She will never regret her decisions once made. Should it come down to it, the glory of the wherholds is worth even her own life. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending upon your opinion) Xibath has a typical dragonic memory and long term planning is beyond her capabilities. She relies heavily on her rider to remember important things beyond a handful of days and in the end, the success of her more ambitious ideas will be subject to their discretion.
She has a great deal of sympathy and love for those around her. Rarely will she ever say anything directly negative despite a tendency for blunt or uncomfortable honesty. She's quite a positive and comforting personality even if she may seem a bit detached from reality at times and likely to go off on a tangent or forget the conversation entirely if she gets distracted by a stray thought.
When it comes to relationships Xibath is inclined towards many casual friendships rather than deeper connections. She has a hard time emphasizing with others and no desire towards romantic love. The closest exception to this of course is her rider whom she adores above all others. Their council is the only one which could potentially sway Xibath from diving headfirst into destruction though getting her to stop is infinitely harder than shifting her focus onto perhaps a less dangerous path. Xibath will never be one to rise frequently despite her color. Her passions are too busy elsewhere and a flight is only a minor inconvenience to be over with and in the past quickly so she can get on to more important world changing activities.
Inspired by the
Cave of the Crystal Sepulchre.

"Discovered in 1989, this jungle cave in the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve is accessible via an hour's ride from San Ignacio, Belize, and a walk for another hour across shallow rivers and through jungle. Here one arrives at the Actun Tunichil Muknal or "ATM" cave mouth. To gain access to the cave one must swim in and then wade up the cave river for another kilometer.
Walking a further kilometer and a half in the cave, past huge boulders and cavernous rooms (one known as "The Cathedral"), to the back of the cave system, you find the skeletons of the ritual sacrifices made by the Maya to their Gods, more than a thousand years ago.
Farther into the cave is perhaps the most famous of these long-dead Maya, the skeleton of an eighteen-year-old girl (or one thousand and eighteen years old, at this point) known as the "The Crystal Maiden."
She is unique in her positioning and the fact that two of her vertebrae are crushed. Because of this researchers believe she may have died in a particularly violent manner and then been thrown or tossed onto the ground, where she has lain for at least the last 1,100 years. The skeleton has been there so long, in fact, that is has been completely calcified, giving her bones a sparkling, slightly plump look and inspiring the name "The Crystal Maiden."
It is unknown what the circumstances of the sacrifices were, though some believe they were to appease the rain god Chac, or possibly the gods of the underworld. Another theory holds that these were believed to be witches (possibly suffering from some kind of mental or physical ailments) and that leaving them unburied in the cave would ensure that their spirits were trapped there.
The name Actun Tunichil Muknal translates as "Cave of the Crystal Sepulchre," and the locals know it as "Xibalba" after the Mayan underworld. The Crystal Cave was traditionally believed to be an entrance to hell, a deep fissure in the earth filled with rivers of blood and scorpions. This was the domain of the Mayan death gods, the subterranean court of the "Lords of Xibalba." Often referred to as demons, these twelve deities had names like "Stabbing Demon" and "Skull Staff," and inflicted a range of maladies on people including sickness, pain, and fear."
Why Me? Vesin your dreams need not be only dreams! Xibath knows this and knows that Vesin has the ability to make their dreams come true if she could only see it! Xibath was drawn to Vesin because of her levelheaded manner and her aptitude for planning. Ambition alone is plentiful among the wherhold but Vesin, with Xibath at her side, have the ability to
achieve.
Xibath has great and lofty plans for them, but as much as she'll talk through her plans to the very beautiful and perfect end she imagines, it will only be one path she sees. It will be on Vesin's shoulders to bring her back to reality, to help her see and plan for things when they don't work the way she expects them to. Using their mutual strengths to balance each other, they will be able to go far in life.
Xibath finds Vesin's loyalty to her family admirable and thoroughly encourages the close connection they share. Any friends, any loved ones, any willing (or lets face it, unwilling) allies are gifts to be treasured. Xibath is not selfish or jealous in her goals. She wants the best not only for herself and Vesin, nor just the wherhold, but for the world!
