There was just something so invigorating about a having a gentle canter through the shallows of the beach. Vanora's breath came out in a rhythmic pattern as her legs carried her through the surf and sand of her home. Lately she had been overcome with feelings of melancholy and she had an inking that somewhere, somehow it was because of Gaston. Her twin had left without any warning one night and had yet to return. That was the greatest mystery to Vanora. Why had her twin run off without even letting her know that he was going or where for that matter? What had caused the suave stallion to flee? Vanora couldn't puzzle out the connection.
The feelings though; those worried her more than Gaston's disappearance. Her brother had always been outgoing even when other females rejected his forthcoming ways. It had seemed as if nothing could get through the stallion's thick hide. But now it felt as if something had wormed deep down inside to spread its malevolent depression. What had caused this change Vanora would not know unless Gaston returned or someone else brought word of him.
It was a little maddening to have to sense her twin's feelings. Vanora sighed as she came to a sudden stop and stared out towards the ocean. Her gaze softened as she sighed before her gaze moved to the unknown lands that she had never had the inkling to explore. There was one other individual that had left in the dark of night. The mare Vanora knew as Belle had left only a few months after Gaston's disappearance and it was likely that she had gone off after her brother.
Wherever Gaston had disappeared to and whenever he chose to return Vanora knew that she would be the first to welcome her brother back with open hooves. There was still a part of her that looked up to her big brother even with his tendency to openly flirt with every mare possible. Vanora scanned her surroundings before sighing once more. There was nothing she could do at the moment. She would just have to deal with the melancholic feelings that washed through her at the most inconvenient times. She turned around to walk slowly through the surf back towards her home. The feeling that everything could work out for the best was not at all present. That worried Vanora. She wanted a happy ending for everyone that she knew.
Worries aside about things that she could not control Vanora felt freer than she ever had. Although it was another complication to deal with Vanora was happy with this development. Lately she had found herself enjoying the company of some of the local stallions. They were sweet enough to her and she in turn was pleasant in dealing with them. By all means though she was not ready to settle down. Perhaps there was a little bit of her brother deep inside of her after all. It was with a gentle patience though that she would let them know that she wasn't interested, yet. That would change in the future.
