It was the first time she had faced a youma on her own. Aludra had very nearly turned tail and run the moment she had sensed it but as her steps took her away from the potential fight, her thoughts turned to previous battles. Her mind dragged her former weakness to her mind, her terror, her fear in the face this war. It seemed as though every time she tried to build her natural confidence back up, she got knocked right back down again. Not this time, she promised herself.

After some quick thinking preparation, Aludra had set out to destroy the Negaverse beast. They raced around an abandoned building site together in a gross parody of children playing chase, leaping over building materials and dodging heavy machinery. Then she brought her power into play and the youma followed her at a more manageable pace.

She just needed to get it into just the right… THERE! She jumped onto the scaffolding and released the rope holding the heavy steel bars in place. With a thunderous sound they fell directly onto the youma and it was done. The Chibi was shaking; her knees week and utterly certain it would push its way through the steel to finish her off. But no, it was done and dusted.

Finally. Finally. Right then and there Aludra burst into tears.

If anything the arrival of the cat only made her cry harder. The young girl moved to try gathering the cat into her arms and burying her face into his fur, if he allowed it. If not, she would simply settle for a brief cuddle.

It was too hard to say exactly how she felt but her tears weren’t just motivated by her fight with the youma, it was also the feeling of triumph and the renewed hope that she still had use in this war.

“I-I’m sorry, I-I’m okay,” she stammered out.

It helped to have someone to hold and she was as gentle as could be, even as she wept all over him.

Eventually she gave an unsteady breath and let the cat go, smoothing his fur down. “I’m sorry. I made a mess.” With the back of her hand she wiped the last of her tears away. “Aludra. Chibi Sailor Aludra.”

The chibi gave a sudden, bright smile. “I finally did something right.”

“I’m really sorry,” she apologized, her cheeks flushing pink. “I’ll remember that next time.”

Aludra held her pen out to the cat when asked. She didn’t ask what the reward was but was clearly curious and in good spirits.

As the pen changed, Aludra could felt the new rush of power. It left her feeling giddy with excitement, as if she could leap from one side of the earth to the other without any trouble at all.

“Thank you, thank you!” The chibi stood and looked down at her new fuku, smoothing her hands - oh look gloves! – down the red fabric. "This is wonderful."



She couldn't wait to show somebody or just test herself out on the field. This felt like the start of truly being able to protect the people that she cared about. If she continued to grow stronger, day by day, she wouldn't have to lose anybody that she cared about. That was her dearest wish.
