Asclepius had left the lantern from her asteroid behind in her hideout tonight, intending it as some sort of punishment for the object. It continued to do nothing so far as the Senshi of Medicine could tell, except look nice where she had taken to hanging it in front of the bricked-off fireplace in the flat that served as her secret base.

She was too stressed out to try to figure out new ways to fiddle with the stupid thing tonight. Tonight, Asclepius was planning to go seeking negaverse auras. Maybe take out her bad mood on a youma or soemthing.

Captain Merlinite was on the prowl for some violence tonight. he had to step up his game, and he had to prove that he was the man he knew he could be: he was the loyal Negaverse soldier that was going to work his way up the ranks and make a real difference in the way things were run. He was going to be the best, damn it, like no one ever was.

Wait. Never mind.

He sensed an aura of something White Moon not too far off and moved for it, hoping it was not the one senshi that made him confused enough to not want to attack or do his damn job. He leaped over a gap between two rooftops, making his way toward the source.

Not expecting to find someone on a similar hunt to his own, at least in the way that they both needed to let off some steam, he spotted a pretty White Moon senshi he could not remember meeting before. Perfect. No possible friendship here, and no more confusion. This one was an enemy.

"Well, well, what have we here?" he called, not bothering with stealth or surprise. "Out a bit late tonight, aren't you, White Mooney?"

"No, I think I'm old enough to set my own bedtimes," Asclepius replied, eying the Negaverse agent. The glamors made it hard to tell sometimes, but this one looked like one of the older agents, too. And by his aura, decently skilled.

Ordinarily, the Senshi of Medicine was not eager to fight. Tonight, though, she was not in the mood to talk. She took a fighting stance, clenching her fists, and added, "And since I ran into you, it seems like it was a good idea I decided to make it a late night."

Merlinite chuckled, calling his club to his hand.

It was not as heavy as he would have liked it to be, but it was still hefty enough to be fun to swing, and it was covered in small spikes that would likely make things painful for anyone who he got to hit with it. Woefully, he did not get enough practice with it on real senshi to get the best feel of it.

He was hoping to change that.

Tonight.

"Oh, look at you! So tough for such a dainty looking thing. Well, if you want to fight, let's go. I was just looking to be friends, but you Senshi are all so mean!" He laughed as he charged at her, swinging his faithful club without hesitating.

"Do you say that to every girl you meet?" Asclepius asked, rolling her eyes. She did not really expect an answer out of him, though.

His weapon needed to be taken seriously, it looked like. The Senshi of Medicine decided that such a battle would be good practice, as long as she was careful. She had not realy had a difficult fight in a while, and, while it did still make her kind of nervous, she would also be helping keep her skills sharp, at least.

... When had such thoughts of violence become so commonplace for her?

Oh well. Asclepius tensed, then darted in for an attack, kicking at the Negaverse Captain with one of her high heels.

"Just the pretty ones that are looking for a fight," he said, grinning at her and chuckling. He had no luck with the ladies, though he certainly tried to make it seem like he did. He had no idea why they were not into him: he was handsome, he was confident, he was smart. Sure, he was not rich or successful just yet but he was getting there, damn it.

Well. Successful, anyway. He wasn't sure how to monetize her current career paths at the moment, but he would figure that out in due time.

He was distracted by stupid thoughts when he saw the senshi move in a familiar, attack oriented blur. He yelped and moved to bring his spiked club around, taking a swing at her in defense, but it was not very well aimed.

She managed to kick him high on his leg, and her high heel hurt like hell. How did senshi fight in those things?! He thought they weren't supposed to get weapons, but shoes like that certainly counted as far as he was concerned.

Extensive practice was how Asclepius walked in her heels. That and a lot of determination backed by anger. Maybe that was how all women could walk in heels. She did not have as much combat experience as some, she imagined, but Asclepius was comfortable in her seifuku like a silken personal exoskeleton, and her shoes were as good as any weapon in her mind.

She did not appear to take any pleasure in landing her hit, however - the Senshi of Medicine's expression remained unchanged. Until she caught sight of the spiked club coming towards her, at which point she wrinkled her nose slightly and made a lunge out of the way.

Fortunately his aim was not the best, so she did not have to try too hard to dodge it. The club looked heavy, so Asclepius figured it was to her advantage that the agent would not be as quick to swing it. Seeing what looked to be another opening, she jumped off the pavement at the officer again, aiming with a fist this time.

Merlinite was glad his outfit was so rough and tumble. He was built for war and action, clearly, and he was damn proud of it! He had always imagined himself being the best, and pushing himself to do whatever he needed to, to prove himself within the Negaverse.

It was weird that the more he said things like that to himself, the more trouble he had believing them.

Shaking that doubt from his mind for what had to be the hundredth time that week, he watched his opponent keenly. He missed his last swing but he was not going to keep missing. That was not how he would win a fight!

A fist to the face was a good incentive not to miss again, and he let out a grunt as she connected with his jaw. Damn she had a surprisingly hard punch for a dainty looking woman! He knew he should not be underestimating them based on their appearance, but sheesh. He would never get used to having to fight women, let alone having to fight ones that could kick his butt.

He did take a swing with his club again, though, aiming for her midsection and doing his best to keep his swing steady.

A bit surprised herself at how strongly her punch had connected, Asclepius was certainly not ready for him to retaliate so quickly. The club caught her in the middle, knocking the wind out of the senshi as it knocked her away. She landed less delicately this time in a heap on the ground, one hand to her smarting ribs as she fought to get her breath back.

Keeping her eyes on him, she tried to urge her body to get up and move, to prepare for the next attack, but the best the Senshi of Medicine could manage was to scoot herself away another foot or so. She felt sudden fear, no doubt in part due to the shortage of air, but also because Asclepius was not confident she could recover quickly enough to dodge again when she needed to.

She fought to breathe in slowly but steadily, in spite of how badly inhaling beyond a certain point hurt her bruised midsection. Asclepius had started this, and she just hoped she could finish it.

Merlinite was fueled to do well in this fight now, and he charged to keep following through with her attack. She was off her balance now, and he could tell she was winded from his last hit.

This was it, his chance to shine! He was going to win a fight for once, damn it, and he was so determined he could not let any other circumstance come to pass.

"This is it, Senshi!"

He hauled his club up over his head, gripping the handle now with both hands and grinning wildly as he brought it down at her. He was not sure it even felt good to be doing this sort of a frenzied attack, and if he was really going to be proud of himself after was up to debate.

But he was not going to be able to stop himself now.

He leaped up and swung it down at her as hard as he could, but he shut his eyes as he did it without really thinking about it.

Dodging was still out of the question, so Asclepius leaned to one side as well as she could and threw up one arm to try to deflect as much of the incoming blow as she could manage. She shut her eys for half a second, too, setting her jaw as she braced herself for the pain, and--

Marcella had broken her arm once falling off her bike. She was young at the time, still learning how to ride, and the memory had had a lot of time to fade. The pain of it stood out in her mind from the experience, being different from other pain she had experienced since, but the exact nature of it was not something she could describe with any certainty.

Except she knew the moment that club hit her forearm that the bone was broken.

Asclepius immediately pulled the broken limb close to her chest, and let out the best scream she could manage. God, it hurt so much-- but- her enemy was still there, too. How was she supposed to concentrate on anything but the pain now?

Her senshi magic came to mind like a reflex somehow, through the rest of her thoughts bleached out by the hurt. Ribs no longer bothering her in comparison, she took a deeper breath and half-screamed the name of her spell -- "Eucracia Restoration!" -- and, once the medicine was in hand, Asclepius flung it at Merlinite point-blank as well as she could manage with her non-dominant hand.

Merlinite could feel the bone crunching under his club and he was shocked by it. It made a weird sound and the feeling that reverberated through his club and into his arms made his skin crawl. He pulled back, stunned.

He had not expected to really hurt her. Had he ever successfully hurt someone, in a serious way? He was not sure, and if he had managed to do it, it had been when his confidence was much higher. Now he was not sure who or what he was, let alone what he wanted to do.

This was supposed to be a great success for him, but at the moment he was just in shock. He did not know how to process what happened, so he just filed it away in the back of his head for later.

He would think about it when he had some down time.

His mental distraction was enough to make him surprised when something wet and cold slammed into his face and burst, coating his head and shoulders in... something that smelled very strange. He did not recognize the smell, which was both a relief and disconcerting at once.

"What the hell?" he stumbled back, expecting it to start burning or something bad to happen, bracing himself for the worst of the senshi magic.

Clutching her broken arm to her chest, Asclepius forced her feet under herself, even as her vision swam from pain and fatigue. She had managed to distract her adversary and she had to take advantage of it, even if her body did not want to. She had to do something.

So, with effort, Asclepius forced herself to stand up.

Tears ran down her cheeks, but at least it was getting easier to breathe now. And, as the adrenaline took over, the look on her opponent's face struck the senshi as amusing. She stepped back from him carefully on her heels, and smiling to herself. Her magic, her utterly useless magic, had been the first thing to come to mind in this fight, and here it looked like it had even managed to do something?

She wiped her nose on the ribbons that circled her wrists, and laughed. If he killed her now, at least Asclepius would have that offended look on his face be the last thing on her mind. And if she survived, maybe she could try tossing out random dishes of smelly water at opponents more often!

Either way, whatever was going to happen, it was going to happen to the Senshi of Medicine right there. She was too exhausted suddenly to move from where she now stood. So, fighting back the laughter, she clenched the fist of her left hand and tried to get into as ready a stance as she could manage, turning her shoulders in a small effort to protect the throbbing agony that was her right arm.

He wiped his face, realizing the water or whatever it was, since it smelled weird, was doing nothing to him, and looked at the senshi, ready to fire off a witty snark at her for her failure to attack. But he saw she was crying and for some reason it halted his words in his throat.

Shutting his mouth, he gripped his club and debated his next move.

He watched her, uncertain, knowing that what he needed to do was attack her and end things for good. He also knew, though, that he did not want to do that, and was feeling all too conflicted all of a sudden. He shook his head, cursing himself.

"Look, senshi. I won, alright? That's it. Fight over. Get out of here before I change my mind, but don't tell a goddamn soul I let you go. You just managed to escape. Alright?"

Hopeless. That was what he was. Ever since making friends with that first senshi, he was hopeless.

She shifted her feet, working to keep her balance, maintain her stance, but ... inside Asclepius knew she was not going to win this one. This, apparently, was what she got for being too aggressive. Lesson learned, or it would be once she had had time to process all this.

For now, pain consumed her thoughts once again now that the threat of danger seemed to have mercifully passed. Asclepius' heels clicked with an irregular rhythm as she moved to the edge of the rooftop, and she spared one last glare through her tears at Merlinite but said nothing before hopping down to the street level to make her escape.
