A month in, and Zeke could finally get the ******** off the island for something other than a mission. While he didn't mind life at Deus(it certainly had it's perks), a little break would be nice.

A break with some very enjoyable company would be even better.

So, heading back towards his dorm after the last of his daily duties were finished, he drew out his phone and shot a text off to Ever.

Text to Everafter:
I've got leave, we should get away from the island for a couple days.

It was a bit before Ever replied, as always, and the message was understandably brief, probably carefully constructed to limit his time on the keyboard.

Zeke had pulled the bag he'd arrived at Deus with out of his closet, but hadn't bothered to grab anything else yet. Instead he'd waited, flipping through a book he'd borrowed from the library, for Ever to get back to him.

The slight delay had been expected.

Over night. I think I have 24 hours.

Again, that delay. It was easy to picture Ever, wherever he was, with pale eyebrows knitted up into a knot in the middle of his forehead, painstakingly punching at keys on the screen. One finger. Clumsy.

Zeke could picture it, and it made him smile as he sat back against the wall, book folded over his knee.

Didn't plan that far ahead, wanted to know if you had a preference.

I believe we talked about computer shopping at one time, as well as Paris.

Text to Ezekiel:
Where are you? -- Ever

This time, he was walking while he texted -- and it meant that the message came about ten seconds before the knock on Zeke's door, Ever there with the glasses pushed up on his head and his eyebrows still a touch knitted. Distracted. Annoyed, maybe.

The knock on his door had him cancelling the message he had started to type out, and instead he dropped the phone on the bed and rolled off his bed to answer the door. Obviously the he knew where Zeke was, but he'd answer anyways, if only to be a smart a**. "Right here."

An easy smile greeted the Lifer, though it grew a touch at that annoyed look as he moved the the side, leaving room for Ever to move past him, if he wanted to.

Thoughtlessly he reached out to press his thumb against the crease between brows, smoothing it up so he could trail fingers through snowy bangs before dropping his hand away. The glasses were given an appreciative look before he met dark eyes.

"You could have just knocked on my door." It was still exasperated, but not in a genuine sort of way: distractedly exasperated, shaking his head at Zeke but submitting to the touch. Once his hand slipped away, Ever's went into his own hair, trying to put right whatever Zeke had tousled. He knocked his glasses loose and, still annoyed, pulled them off to tuck them into his pocket, instead.

"I have days. A lot of days, I can't use them all. But wherever we go, I should buy more cigarettes, and maybe figure out the computer." He shrugged, briefly, rolling, at Zeke.

"I could have, but I didn't know if you were in, I didn't want to hunt your a** down." He paused, expression thoughtful. "I suppose I could try your door as a first resort more often, in the future." As much as he was teasing, there was a decent chance he actually might. Ever's door was right there art the entrance to the dorms.

"Cigarettes and computers. We can pretty much get those anywhere in the US, so let's talk climate." Hazel eyes lingered on his hair, as if he were tempted to tussle it up all over again.

"Maybe start with where you can't go." It was slow, absent; relaxing back into himself some. It was hard to explain why all the texting got him so worked up. Not furious, just like a gnat, nipping here and there, the annoyance of his own inability to reply. Ever puffed out a breath, and then claimed a seat on Zeke's bed, legs sprawled out in front of him.

"Where do you have family? Or friends? So we can go to, uh, where you went to school, or your home...." Ever shrugged crookedly. "Other than that, I don't know. New York's crazy this time of year, maybe somewhere just a little tamer than that..."

"Salt Lake City is out of the question, my whole family is there. Also anywhere near where I went to college. Other than that I don't have any limitations." He sank down beside Ever's legs, a hand dropping to his knee. For whatever reason the Life's dislike for texts amused him, but was reluctant to annoy him too much. Things were good, he'd like to keep them that way.

He frowned thoughtfully, cycling through cities in his mind. "What about somewhere like Maine, or Virginia? It's the off season, so probably wouldn't be terribly crazy there." Another quiet moment of contemplation. "Anywhere east coast will probably be on the tamer side, now that it's almost November."

"...Maine?" There was a moment of slow-dawning horror on Ever's face at the idea, his eyes flashing to Zeke's face like he was trying to decide if that was a serious suggestion or not. Of course, his visions of Maine were limited to jokes cracked, Stephen King novels, stereotypes --

"What, are we going to go antiquing" Genuinely horrified, yes, and trying to place Zeke in that setting. It left his eyebrows furrowed.

Zeke shrugged. "Lobster?" That was about the extent of his knowledge for Maine. "I've never been there. Just tossing out ideas." The furrowed brows made him smile, and he turned, going up on his knees, and crawled over the bed to steal a kiss before settling on Ever's thighs.

"Where do you want to go? Somewhere warm, cold, arid, tropic, mountainous?" They had literal endless possibilities, Ezekiel didn't care where they went, just so long as they went somewhere not here. "What about Colorado?"

Considering the dynamic of their relationship, Zeke sitting on Ever's lap, arms in a lazy drape around his shoulders, was quite the upheaval.

It was a pleasant upheaval, at least, and one that drew Ever immediately into focus; head tipped back and hands settling thoughtlessly on Zeke's hips, just absently creeping under the hem of his shirt.

"How cold is it in Colorado, right now?" Ever tipped his head just a bit, eyes dropping from Zeke's face to his own hands, thumbs hooked lightly into the waistband of his pants. Not pushing beyond that, but thinking about it anyway. And relaxing a hair as he did.

"Do you have warm enough clothes?"

"Pretty cold, I would imagine." He was grinning, fingers working lazily through the soft curls at the back of Ever's neck. "I hear the the snow in the mountains can be upwards of twenty feet high along the roads." His own gaze had dipped as fingertips hooked into the top of his pants on either side.

Pale eyes rose again after a moment, accompanied by an easy smile. "Enough for two days, at the very least." Probably. Having been living in Florida, his wardrobe did tend to run towards lighter weight fabrics and shorter sleeves. "I can always buy more, if I need to."

He leaned in a little closer, enough so he could smooth his hand up along the nape of Ever's neck, fingers sliding up along his scalp with just a touch of nails.
