Emelina was not having the best day. At the moment she had a deep-timbre voice in her head that was rummaging through her brain in a way that felt almost like a violation. Part of her longed to take the bracelets from her wrists and hurl them as far away as she could. Dhakir had already warned her, however, that they were irretrievably linked. She was his now. It was alright though because as much as she was his he was hers. That was how this worked.

If Eme had known she would be leaving Hawai'i to be joined with a shark in some kind of mystical matrimony she might not have left at all. She didn't quite know what it was about Dhakir that made him such a predator but he was absolutely a shark in every sense of the word. Human. Animal. A mix between the two that seemed to please him with the comparison.

Standing outside of her dorm room she frowned. Looking down at the paper in her hand she checked the number twice. Then, deciding why the hell not, she opened the door. Looking at the man inside she let out a long, suffering sigh. "Well. I should have expected it."

Zac, blinked. He was pretty sure he didn’t have anyone scheduled for a tattoo today. He didn’t know her, he didn’t even remember seeing her in passing. On the plus side he hadn’t been trying to add to his own tattoos, or sitting shirtless just at the moment given the less than enthusiastic reactions he’d received to being seen shirtless.

“Can I help you?” He asked carefully, though his own accent came more heavily with surprise.

Apparently, given her words, and that –sigh- he’d done something to offend already. He was trying hard not to compound that by staring at her.

There were a lot of things that could have been said as the petite young woman leaned against the doorjamb. Dhakir was supplying quite a few ideas that went from simply rude to downright pornographic, making her blush slightly as she tugged futilely at the metal around her wrists. Because she didn't trust herself to not say something horrible she instead just held out the paper with her room assignment.

Letting him peruse it she perused him, wondering at the accent and considering it. Her own voice was distressingly American, just like her father's, though her mother's accented English had been something she'd mimicked randomly through the years. Eventually gathering her wits, the shark in her mind subdued enough to let her get a word in edgewise, she sighed again. "Either I am in your room or you are in mine. There's clearly been a mistake."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 23, 2014 6:54 pm

“Tino? te faaiteraa i te ruma ki te wahine?” He stared at the room assignment and then back at her. It wasn’t English that was clear, but it might sound like it had familiar roots. Wahine at least was clear enough as meaning woman, he wasn’t addressing her though, he was being astounded at the paper.

“I room here, I’ve been here well over a month.” He said shaking his head. “A couple even.”

He waved his hands around the room at the distinguishing personal features, not the least of which was the fact there was a tattoo set up in the corner by the bed. The desk shoved close enough to the edge of the bed that the box containing the equipment was in easy reach, or, as currently, out for cleaning and light maintenance.

Implying without saying explicitly so that the mistake was certainly not on his part.

Lena's smile was quick and a little quirky. "Well it was worth a try that you'd be willing to just pack your things and move, yeah?" Idly she twirled a messy curl around her finger, the rest of them like a giant halo surrounding her head. 'He ought to. Take his things and go. We don't want him here.' There was nothing nice-feeling in her brain when it came to the man who was in her assigned room. Lena herself was a friendly girl that didn't much mind the situation.

Dhakir? He was territorial, fiercely so, and had staked a claim. Anyone else now was a challenger that must be ruthlessly removed. It unsettled her but, blessedly, she didn't pay much attention to that voice in her head. It wasn't the first time she'd had to block out unwanted thoughts. "It's been your room for months, so why am I being assigned to it? I mean...are roommates common?" Her jacket was draped over her arm along with the vermilion scarf she'd been given at the same time as her room assignment.

"And uhm..." Reaching off to the side she dragged over a large suitcase that came up to her hips, looking heavy. "My things were here."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 23, 2014 7:29 pm

“I haven’t a clue.” He shook his head. “…I don’t think anyone else has one, hell, when I got assigned to this floor I got s**t for not starting my time here in the basement.” He frowned slightly in frustration.

“I think all the other bloody rooms are full on this floor though, only full hunters can move into the other floors, and…well the basement is I guess…” He made a face and glanced at her.

“s**t….” He sighed.

//You know you SHOULD be nice, we could hang curtains, as long as she’s not bringing back booty calls, and I mean, you do sort of LIKE men too.//
He really wished Remiel would shut up right about then.

He took another breath and let it out.

“Unless you’re wanting to bunk in the basement, we should requisition another bed and hang some sheets. I’ll see if anyone is going on leave soon and can pick us up a screen for the corner so we can dress in peace, I can use it for my tattoo work too. I’m not moving my gear to the basement. If another room opens up we can move you in there so you can have some proper space.”

He knew on some level he was –really- going to regret the loss of ‘personal space’, but he’d already stuffed his foot in his mouth and made the offer. After all, they already dropped her stuff off, he had nowhere else to go…and DAMNED if he was moving to the basement out of guilt. How bad could it be to room with a…well, really attractive woman? He immediately hated himself for asking that question even in the back of his mind.

When wishing she'd gotten the full college dorm experience, Eme had never expected to be having it with a man. She hadn't even begun to live with Landon yet -- their marriage was a foregone conclusion, the wedding to take place before she started medical school and incurred so much debt anything else would be impossible.

Nervously fingers flexed on the handle of her suitcase as she considered the offer. Wherever this basement was it didn't seem like it was a place she wanted to be. The room itself wasn't very spacious but she didn't require a whole lot of space on a whole.

Chewing on her lip from the inside Emelina turned the thought over and over in her head. It couldn't hurt to take him up on the offer and if it didn't work out she'd be right back where she was right now. Dhakir's suggestion on what she could do to eliminate her potential roommate so that there was no concern was disregarded once more.

"Would you be willing to do it on a trial basis? I mean, it's your room, obviously. But until we can get something else figured out I'm not bad company. I don't take up a lot of room and I'm a workaholic. Shouldn't be here too much." Her smile was cautious but game, and very pretty.

He nodded. “Yeah, I mean, we could be lucky someone could graduate to full hunter and move up in the world. Then We could swoop you right in before it gets too crazy right?”

He hesitated and then eyed the beds. “….It’d be best if we bunked them, do you, want top bunk or bottom?” He offered cautiously. Really he should probably just say which one he preferred but, worst case they could string sheets around both beds.

“You ah… Might want the top so I don’t have to set clients onto your bed.” He added after a moment, realizing there was more to conceder than each of their preferences.

“Since I haven’t tracked down a proper chair yet I mean, not for tattoos I mean, I sort of do two jobs, the tattoos and the hunting and guarding I mean.”

Yeah, he might be a little on edge.

Thinking of swooping into a room before someone even realized it was vacant appealed vastly to Emelina's spirit of adventure. It also appealed to the cranky shark creature in her brain. Laughing, finally, at one of his jokes she stroked one of her bracelets lightly. "You mean I can just move in like a shark."

Dragging her bag into the room she shut the door rather firmly, dumping her things in the nearest available corner. Toeing off her boots she stood in the loose sweater and flower-printed denim she'd come to the island in, considering the bed for a moment. Without warning she hopped up on the bed, standing atop it, arms stretched out towards the ceiling. Not even five and a half feet tall, there was more than enough room between her fingers and the ceiling.

Crossing her legs under her so that she sat down in a heap against his pillow. "Top bunk works for me. I'm the smaller of the two of us and I don't mind climbing around. You can always hoist me up or something." Her smile was wide and teasing, but clearly flirtatious at the same time.

He blushed, even with his dark skin it was clear enough that was what was happening in response to her flirtations.

“So ah, yeah, I’ll make sure we get an extra bed.” He said stumbling a bit over the words. He cleared his throat and forcing his eyes into just about every other corner of the room.
“Guy ever down the hall knows where an Ikea is since we’re pretty much state side, so ah, we could get some more places to put things.”

“So ah, where are you from?” He asked hazarding a glance back at her, wild hair, loose sweaters and all.

Eme had one deep weakness and that was for the healthy bronze of an islander. Landon, despite his name not sounding very cultural, had roots on the islands that could be traced back to the time that they were ruled by a royal family. She wondered if Zachary had the same sort of approach to life that she had grown up surrounded by. If so, they would get along very well. Perhaps even too well.

If not? He'd pitch her out before a week was up.

"Extra bed sounds good. I don't mind living close with someone but that may be a bit too close, if you get me." Her smile flashed again, infectious and brilliant. "Ikea might take some doing though. I don't have much by the way of a stipend for a bit, as I understand this thing." She waved the pamphlet she'd been handed fresh out of the pod, tossing it aside flippantly.

His question didn't really surprise her. It was the first thing to ask and if there was anything Emelina was, it was exotic-looking. She hated being called exotic, because who wouldn't hate being called that, but she understood the question. Everything about her screamed foreign but her voice was pure All-American. "Hawai'i. My dad was stationed out of Pearl Harbor before he retired and since mom had a good place at the hospital, they decided to stay."

Combing fingers through her tangle of messy hair she returned the serve. "You? That's no American accent, I got that much. Some kind of Polynesia?"

“Ah… New Zealand.” He nodded… looking for a moment like he might say more but didn’t.
“So, do you speak the language then? Do you surf? Two questions for the price of one it seemed.

“I can probably get the bunks, I do tattoo, and really it’s not an –awful- wage we get paid.” He shrugged.

“Hell, I could probably offer to trade someone a fair bit of ink if they’d deliver the damn bunk to the door eh?”

He rubbed the back of his neck, unsure what to do next, to say next to this…really rather stunning woman he was rather suddenly bunking with.

“So ah…yeah sometimes I speak a bit funny I guess, different slang, different language.”

For a moment Eme considered being just a little exasperated at the idea that everyone in Hawai'i surfed. Landon surfed and she could, if she wanted to, but it wasn't really her thing. "I can surf but I don't. It's never been much my thing. I play tennis instead." She mimicked swinging a racket for a moment before gesturing to her bag. "I have a racket in there."

As to the language she had to disappoint him. "There's the slang that everyone speaks, I get that much, but that's like you said. Different slang. Different language. I do speak passable Mandarin and a smidge of Urdu." Whiskey-colored eyes got mischievous, a look that Zac would come to recognize as almost habitual mirth as he got to know her. "The unsavory side of Urdu, naturally."

Mentioning the bunk she snatched up the pamphlet she'd tossed aside, poring over it for information. "Well they should at least give us a bed for free to stack 'em. They can't hardly expect me to sleep on the floor." Tossing it aside once more she scooped up her hair, twisting a colorful band around it so that the heavy mass of it was caught up against the back of her skull.

"Do you want to come with me to find someone to point us in the right direction? You said you have a buddy who could help with Ikea. Does he know anything about the island?" Determined and to the point, she was a whirlwind that had burst into his room and was going to toss his life around.

It would be interesting.

“Well, ah…” he thought for a moment about the possibility of Ever knowing where they could requisition a new bed, and dismissed the idea almost out of hand.

“Sorry to ask about the surfing, I just wanted to warn you that its… not a great idea around here I guess. Like… I even got a board to try but something apparently lives in the water out there, someone said tentacles wash up all the time.

He was busy texting through…sending out a message to people in his contact list to see if anyone could point him into the right direction to find a spare bed. He may have…avoided Zeke and Ever out of hand though.

“be…besides if we can’t find one in a timely fashion I can sleep on the floor.”

Zac might have been content to use his phone to investigate but Emelina was a much more hands-on sort of person. She needed to be in the thick of things which was part of what had gotten her placed into Moon Division. She wasn't afraid of much and what she was afraid of were things that couldn't really hurt anyone but her.

Shoulders rolled as she hopped up off the bed, dismissing his apology. "Don't worry about it. So you surf then?" Her smile flashed as she returned the question, heading for the door. "And you're not going to sleep on the floor. Somewhere around here is a bed that nobody's using. We'll just requisition it. I mean, I've grown up around the military. I know an organization when I see one and there's just gotta be a bed somewhere. If not a bed frame then at least a mattress that we can use." She was adamant.

One hand rested on her hip as a foot tapped, mildly impatient. "Are you coming?"
