It was very sudden how that rain had started just in time to create mud while Heidi and America rolled around on the ground, but it could have been worse, right? At least America was inviting her over to eat and clean up. And to be honest it got Heidi curious about the things a person could do with a house on this island. She'd heard things. Hopefully America could dispel her worries. Heidi sniffed, touching her nose and finding herself relieved it wasn't broken. Just sore. "You gotta teach me to punch like that, man."

Leading the other girl down past the training fields and into the town, America sometimes would taking dashing detours for puddle splashing and gate jumping, but for the most part was relaxed enough after the fight to simply walk and chat. She grinned at Heidi, nodding in pleased agreement, "It's a good thing to learn."
They entered a cul-de-sac and where many of the houses outside the small neighborhood might resemble a post apocalyptic movie set, Peach Tree Lane looked like something right out of a nice small town. At the end of the lane stood a white two-story, and seeing it, America took Heidi's hand and tugged it before sprinting toward the house just as the rain picked up and came thundering down on them.
Laughing up a small set of stairs and crossing the front porch, America unlocked the door for Heidi to go in, "Mud room's on the right!"
The mud room was particularly appropriate for the their situation, and America was stripping out of her clothes even as she walked in. "Got some fluffy robes if you want one, we can get your clothes washed and nice again while you're here."

Wow. This was not what Heidi had been expecting. Green eyes gazed everywhere and at everything as she walked up to the lane without much care for the rain. It was just rain and they were already wet, so why worry about it? This place was impressive for something she'd heard horror stories of! But then America was tugging her hand and she had to run after her, finding herself suddenly laughing. Why were they in a hurry? She wanted to look around! Oh well, at least they were inside. "Mud room?" Heidi pulled her scarf from around her neck, shrugging off her coat next and then starting to unbutton her shirt. "That'd be nice, yeah!" She smiled. "This place is nice! "You live here by yourself?" Those other houses hardly looked as if they had anyone in them. It was more like something out of Walking Dead.

"When you get as dirtied up as we do, gotta have a mud room." With easily cleaned mats, a washer and dryer, numerous boots of various purpose, coats much the same, it was a room of great purpose: keeping the mud out of the rest of the house. There was a sink beside the washer and once America was stripped down, she rinsed the worst of the mud off, talking all the while and preening at the compliment to her house. "It's mine and Konstantin's, he's gone on a mission right now, but we worked together for months to get this place nice by the time I got promoted. Basic stuff while repairing the rest of the neighborhood during shift hours, and making it up special during free time." She beamed at Heidi, "Love having all the space and just doing what I want with it, feels especially mine, you know?" Relatively cleanish, she grabbed a towel out of the dryer and began patting herself dry.

Heidi laughed. "So mud wrestling is a thing with you? Dang, thought we had something special going, 'merica." She snapped her fingers. So disappointed. Normally she wasn't so quick to strip but..she liked some of these clothes. It'd be nice to wash them. Whatever, it was just another woman. To be honest the mud in her hair was her biggest concern. Gross, man. "Oh, yeah? You did a really great job!" Heidi looked all around the room they were in while she tossed her clothes into the washer. America had a good point. It must be nice to have something that was really entirely yours. Heidi washed her face, rinsing her hair as best as she could as well. "How long did it take?"

"I wish!" America laughed, "Most of my division work is cleaning up and repairing the town, so I'm as likely to come home dirty as clean. Makes having my own bathroom a hundred times more important, gotta say." Handing Heidi a clean towel, she answered, "A few months, but mostly it was just me n' Kon working on it where we had a few hours to spare. I got started while I was intermediate, so it'd be nice by the time I got promoted and could put my name on the title." She slipped into a white fluffy robe, and offered one to the blonde with a little shiver. "I'm thinking soup, how's that sound?"

"Huh, really..?" Heidi looked around again, looking thoughtful. She accepted the robe and shrugged it on, huddling into it with her shoulders raised and the collar of the robe around her ears. So comfy~. "Soup sounds great!" A pause. "So, like..everything works? Electricity, plumbing, all that stuff?" She sounded impressed and a little bit surprised. She had heard nothing but awful things about the towns. America was really turning things around for her.

"Yeah, we got it all hooked up before I even moved in," the redhead wiggled her eyebrows. "Perk of the job." She led Heidi through a parlour, full of windows and comfortable furniture, in it's own way bright despite the rainy weather. Through a narrow hallway beyond, they passed several doors and entered the kitchen, all wooden counters and rain beating on windows. First thing America did was fill the kettle and set it on the stove. Digging through the cupboards, she began pulling down powdered cocoa, actual chocolate pieces, cinnamon, and little flavoring cups pilfered from gas stations around the world. As she worked, the girl chattered on, "So how long you been on the Island? I remember you a bit from here and there, but not much on the regular up til now."
