Site ArtOctober 20th, 2014: [NPC] Gaia Staff Hello and welcome! Here are the answers to a few of the questions posted in our pre-event thread! Please don't duplicate the questions listed below as the answers we have given are as complete as we can make them at this time. Quote: Have the artists ever considered putting together all of their concept artwork and past artwork that can be found on the download page into some kind of digital art book for sale to buy either with Gaia Cash or as an app? I've heard people say if there was such a book for sale they'd gladly spend the Cash to buy one and we all know there's some amazing character art out there by the artists in their Tumblrs and DA pages. We have considered it! However, as you can imagine, it's a very time consuming project! Also, since our rich Gaia heritage goes back 11 years now- not all of the artists who created some of Gaia's iconic pieces are still with us.

Maybe a small feature where it's a "museum" of art? sweatdrop We have a downloads page here~ but many of the artists upload their art or concept art to their personal tumblrs! If you're a fan of someone, consider following them there as well! c:

November 10th, 2014: Finni Ren Orenji Doragon Art/Misc.?scullylam and myself are considering making a fanmade art book for zOMG! May we please get permission to do such a thing? scullylam Proposal: zOMG! A Fanmade Art Book With the closure of zOMG!, it leaves many fans of the game at a loss. Such a loss there is no telling how everyone will cope. A proposal for my sake and those fellow zOMGaians who loved the game, an artbook. 1. With permission from Gaia Interactive, create a traditional book with art, stories, and other materials based and inspired by zOMG! and the characters owned by the company. 2. Work alongside past Gaia Interactive artists to bring more information on the game and its artwork. With permission, publish their sketches and designs in the book. 3. In the book, it will be separated in the followimg: - About: The background about zOMG! - Fanmade: Art: Stories: Creations: Misc. - Official: Works published/owned by Gaia and past staff - Dedication: Any notes from fans, staff that want to share anything in regards to the game and the creation of this book. 4. Publishing of this book is through Blurb, where anyone may purchase not-for-profit. Alternatives will be sought. An e-book may be available as well. 5. If permitted, a glossary of zOMG! items and worlds. Taking all official items and world of zOMG! into perspective. This could be at the end of the Official section or a part of it. This sounds like a great idea! We support any fan-made projects as long as no profit is being made off of it. If you would like to do something commercial, please let us know. Finni Bee Movie Suit Art/Features:Any chance we could get an update to the Trash/Flower/Fish/Bug/Ink exchanges or at least a visual update? The pages are very outdated, as nostalgic as they are I wouldn't mind seeing them spiffy as some of the other pages.    Yikes, these definitely need updating. We'll try to get those updated!

December 1st, 2014: Finni Sweet Angel Mary artCan we get rig art put up on the site? I love the art from rigs like the great race but it's hard to find it all when users don't create art threads. It'd be great if the gaia art page got more updates. Unfortunately, right now the only way to see the artwork is to open a CI and play it. The CIs themselves never disappear! The art threads are often made by a kind gesture by other users who have purchased a CI and making the images publicly viewable for everyone, and are allowed (and encouraged!) by Gaia. If you're hankering for an art thread, make your own and ask for fellow Gaians to help you build a complete library!

December 8th, 2014: Narumi Misuhara Waverlily Hime Misc - Log in/register pageThe home page is fairly outdated, especially in terms of the display avatars. What are the chances of updating it? Also, it'd be cool if it cycled through the community's avatars or winners in the arenas. Updating the homepage is not a far-fetched proposition. Feel free to post the ideas on what should be changed in SF. (I'm suggested this so we can also see the community input on it)

January 5th, 2015: Zero Omega Lupin The Thrid MiscAre we allowed to use Gaia graphics and zOMG aspects to create a non-profit spin-off/remake of zOMG? I know others have asked if you would sell the source or release it. Although those questions weren't answered, this is not related to the zOMG source code, and would like to keep this question separate from those. You are allowed to use graphics so long as you aren't trying to make a profit off of it or commercialize it, go for it! bluealaris Nenanah EventsIn the future can you use a picture that doesn't move as much in the header? That dragon constantly moving around is making me lag horribly. D:< Sure, we'll work on making our next headers a little less heavy graphic wise.

January 19th, 2015: Finni Tiny Chibis Question Category: Art/itemsQuestion: I was wondering for the artists do they draw sketches or drafts of items before they pixel them? if so do any of them release them to the public? I would like to see the whole process from start to finish in creating an item for gaia. From idea to concept sketches to drafts to finished product. thanks for your time =D It depends on the artist! Some artists will even do full on colored sketches before making the item, and then others will go straight to pixels. While we don't plan on releasing the whole process from start to finish -- you know, private company information and all -- many of our artists will post their sketches on their personal art blogs. A lot of changes tend to be made from concept to completion, so many of the sketches may look anywhere from almost identical to completely different than the finished product.

I mean I like the variations of the various artist you have now, but I feel you could have gaian's get ore involved maybe... Hi there, if I'm reading your post correctly (asking for Gaians to contribute artwork to chance items), the answer is no, we do not plan to ask for user-created artwork for CIs. : This wasn't my question, but would you mind elaborating on your answer? That is - why not? There are some amazing artists here on Gaia, and I think things could be better if you let users participate sometimes to this degree. Like, perhaps holding an art contest where a RIG/CI would be made based around a submitter's original work or sometihn! There are legal issues surrounding using a non-Gaia employee's original creations. However, we have done CI features in the past, such as the Christmas Tree CI, that utilized fan-created artworks of Gaia's existing intellectual property. I hope this answers your question! Finni You are free to commission a Gaia staff artist outside of Gaia to create Gaia-related artwork for you. This is completely up to the staff artist's discretion with regards to price and timeframe. If you would like to commission a Gaia artist through Gaia currency, a Lapis Ticket will get you a coveted Gaia art commission! You can find more information in the Project Custom forum.

February 2nd, 2015: milkbun The Iron Magus ShopsIt's been some time since the shopkeeper art has been updated. Are we about due for a change? We love to change the NPC art when there is a reason like if they're featured in an EI or are part of an event. Basically, we need a reason why their art would change and what the changes would be! But yes, we love updating them and hope to do so in the future. yum_puddi

We currently do not have any plans to release tutorials or time lapse videos for our art process. However, this sounds like a fun idea and might be something to do in the future if we have time. This feature probably won't have an update until after April, but its something we would like to do.

March 23rd, 2015: Finni Tiny Chibis Question Category Art Question Do the artists have a favorite color scheme they like to use while drawing/designing artwork/items ? I personally usually start with values or if I have a palette in mind then I paint those colors onto my canvas first, so that I'm designing with that color scheme in mind. For the art team, it really does depend on the artist! Some people are like "Aw yeah definitely these colors" and others will create some value studies and then mock up their item concept in a few different palettes before settling on the one that goes to finals. The recent monthly CI, Tendit ad Astra, features a bunch of WIP gifsets of our artist's illustrations and lets you get a little insight into people's processes. They're quite fascinating to watch, if I do say so myself! There's a handy user thread here that you can access to look at all the artwork. Hope that helps answer your question! emotion_kirakira

How else are you guys going to attract new users with no cute fluffy animals on the home page?

April 6th, 2015: bluealaris Ranas94 Misc/Features(?Since we all know that the landing page of Gaia needs a remake, I was wondering if we could get actual members' avatars featured there. The best way for me would be to choose 6 avatars (2 female, 2 male and 2 paws) likewise featured avatars are chosen maybe, with the members nominating themselves and the staff picking which ones they like the most, altho gaians could get to choose the actual winners from, let's say, 30 finalists (10 of each, female, male and paws). This could be done twice or once a month maybe?~ UGH that's such a cute idea!! Thank you so much. We'll definitely consider that. 3nodding
