Astrophyllite... really should not have been allowed to patrol alone, given her track record of getting beaten up, crying, and making friends with knights. But she was really determined to do better, and Melanite was busy tonight and so was Kerberos, so she was one little lieutenant, all alone, which was... sort of scary, to be honest! There were people out in the city who killed little lieutenants like her and, like, used them to make declarations of war!
But, evil senshi princes or no evil senshi princes lurking around, she still had a quota to fill. She'd found the drunken man passed out in the bus shelter, but the cut of his suit and the leather briefcase beside him marked him for the sort of rich power-player that Melanite encouraged her to target. It was morally superior to go after these men than to go after men who had nothing but their lives and the clothes on their backs.
Astrophyllite stroked the man's face, pulling energy from where her fingers touched his cheekbones. He looked a little like her father in this light, and she bit back the urge to pull his starseed instead. Pulling starseeds was bad, she reminded herself. It killed people, and it was only for people who did bad things. Like the man in the alley who tried to hurt her, tried to hurt her so bad--
Sensing a senshi nearby, she paused and looked up from the man. The presence was light and sweet on her tongue, fragrant and fresh, like cilantro - or soap. Astrophyllite bit her tongue. She'd had her mouth washed out more times than she could count, for saying words that other girls assured her were okay. But she didn't see the senshi, and she was almost to her quota...
She pressed her fingers to the man's cheek again. Maybe - maybe she could finish before the senshi found her.

Patrolling these days was more of a chore than something Deneb took pride in, but she still went out now and then, if only to keep a certain little cat named Etoile off her back. Ever since the tiny cat had wormed its way into the lilac-haired girl's life, Deneb had been unsuccessful at getting the Mauvian to go bother someone else, as Etoile continued to come back time after time, no matter how much she kicked her out of the house.
Or threatened to stuff her in a box and ship her off to some distant foreign country. Etoile was here, and she was determined to stay and drive Deneb insane.
Which was why she was out tonight; Etoile, as annoying as ever, hadn't let up on bugging Deneb about going out and 'doing the right thing' until the teen had finally given up and powered up, if only to shut the cat up for awhile. Despite this, she wasn't particularly looking for a fight, though she knew she was stupid if she thought she could avoid one. Sensing the faint chaos signature nearby, she inwardly groaned, knowing her peaceful night was soon to be over; things could never truly be as easy as she wanted, in the end.
"I don't know what you think you're doing, but if you leave now, we can avoid any trouble," Deneb called out, hoping to make this quick. What happened to random strangers wasn't really any of her concern- it was their own fault for being in the wrong place at the wrong time- but she'd never hear the end of it from Etoile if she didn't, of course, 'do the right thing'.
Astrophyllite looked up, her hand dropping from the man's cheek. She was still - she was short, and she didn't want to report back to Natron without meeting her quota. Even though he'd assured her that he was glad to have her as his lieutenant, she still worried that sooner or later, he'd decide she was the burden that Zinkenite and Bischofite had both seen her for. "Um," she said to the senshi.
The blue-haired girl did not look particularly angry, or hit-y, decided Astrophyllite. Not like some of the senshi and knights she'd encountered. She put her fingers back on the man's cheek and felt his energy flow into her once more. "I'm almost done!" she called to the senshi. "Give me like - thirty more seconds? Maybe a minute..."
She was not very good at estimating how long these things took. "I'm not hurting him!" she called, hoping that it was reassuring to say so. "He was like this when I found him! Unconscious, I mean!"

Deneb had never particularly been a patient person, even back in the beginning of her career as a magical girl, and while Astrophyllite was far more considerate than some of the others she had run into in the past, the fact was that she didn't even want to be out here in the first place, and it'd look pretty embarrassing if she were to get caught standing around just waiting for the lieutenant to finish draining the man's energy.
Not to mention that that cat was probably racking up her cable bill as they spoke. That, Deneb felt, was probably the true reason Etoile sent her out- so she could watch late night pay-per-view while nobody was around to stop her.
"Now." That didn't sound too terribly polite (not that Deneb was ever that much of a polite person), so she quickly added as an afterthought, "Please."
The senshi hadn't attacked her yet, which was nice, but she had that sort of tone of voice now that Astrophyllite associated with nuns, right before they decided you'd earned a few rounds with a yard stick. The energy sizzled under her fingers, and her mental dials spun like the ticker on a gas pump. Close, she thought. She was so close, and yet-
"Just a bit more!" she yelled to the senshi. "Fifteen seconds, I promise!"
She flexed her fingers, as if that might make the energy flow a little faster. Astrophyllite did not want to go through the trouble of finding another mark for so little energy! Not tonight, when her quota was due! She just wanted to get this done with and turned in so that she could go be cozy and warm in her bed.

so uh - maybe Deneb flings her attack at her, Astrophyllite runs off but keeps her energy? That would qualify this as a battle! smile

"That wasn't open for negotiation!" Deneb warned, clearly getting more agitated by the second. She was seriously starting to regret getting involved in this, and felt it would have been far more beneficial to have kept on walking, to pretend she hadn't seen anything.
"I don't have all night to wait around for you to be done," she continued, frowning; it wasn't like she really cared a whole lot about what happened to him, but she had given an ultimatum, and this lieutenant was just stalling for time, in her opinion. As much as Deneb hated fighting and getting her hands dirty, it seemed like words were going to be useless in this situation; she'd have to take action if she wanted to head back home anytime soon.
"Deneb Bubble Burst! Seriously, get out of here!"
Attack #1 (for senshi) NAME: Bubble Burst [What it does] Deneb blows bubbles towards her target, causing minor damage, enough to possibly leave a mark, bruising at best. The bubbles last for about five seconds max before popping, though they also pop on contact, and can be used twice. The range is around six feet, and the bubbles can be (fairly easily) dodged.
Done! thought Astrophyllite victoriously, clenching her fist as she pulled it away from the man. "It's okay," she called to the senshi, wanting to reassure her that she wouldn't waste any more of her time. "I'm--"
Deneb bubble burst!
Astrophyllite scrambled away from the unconscious man, blinking at the bubbles. This was senshi magic, she thought, and senshi magic was bad. She didn't like getting hit with it and she never wanted to feel like Kerberos's magic made her feel again-
One of the bubbles popped against her cheek. Perhaps she hadn't moved fast enough. "Ow!" yelped Astrophyllite. That - that really stung!
Another bubble popped, this time against her forehead. "Ow!" said Astrophyllite again. That hurt even more! She scrambled backwards. "I was just trying to do my job!" she yelled to the senshi, feeling a sob welling in her throat. "You didn't have to hurt me! He'll be - he'll be fine!"
It wasn't like she'd taken his starseed. And his money would soothe his lethargy. She'd only taken a few days off his life at most!
"You're a- a- a big meanie-butt!" Astrophyllite hissed to the senshi. "And I'm going home!"
She ran off.
She wished she knew how to teleport, so that she wouldn't have to worry about running into anyone else tonight on her way to go report to Natron.
