 Shizuka
Name: Tsukiko, Shizuka (Japanese for "Quiet" and "Snowchild") Age: 18 Height: 6' Hair: Black Eyes: Grey
Family: He has a mother, for whom he works in a boat-carving business, a father (though he hasn't a clue which gehaka it is out of his mother's lot so he doesn't even try to guess). He is the youngest of three children. The rest have been married off to wealthy Hakas, so he seems of little worth to his mother. She is eager to marry him off to anyone who would have him.
Personality: Shizuka is very shy, very skiddish, but very sweet. Once you get him talking (I know you're thinking "He talks?!") he opens up a lot more and everyone can tell he's a really spiritually in-touch person. He's really a nature spirit and loves the outdoors, even with his health problems. He's very affectionate and loyal to the end, though not very brave and not much good in a fight.
What health problems? Shizuka is a very pale creature, almost the palest of the Hanze so far, and can't be out in direct sunlight for too long at a time. His skin burns very quickly. He's also a hemopheliac, which means that if he gets cut he bleeds all over the place. It's a terrible condition, and possibly fatal, but he lives with it. It's a real embarrassment for him, so if he runs away really quickly it's probably because he's bleeding all over the place ~ He hates it.
Hobbies: So far Shizuka seems most at ease when he's working carving out boats. That's really the only time you can get him to interact. The rest of the time he's incredibly silent and shy.
Interesting Fact: Though Shizuka is a hemopheliac, when he's in trouble he has a really strange natural accuracy with throwing knives or daggers... he has to be really, really careful not to cut himself though. Else he could bleed to death before even retaliating... Oh, no, no training at all. It's from all that boat carving.
Jiro
Name: Tsukiko, Jiro (Japanese for "Second Son" and "Snowchild") Age: 21 Height: 6'5" Hair: Dark Green Eyes: Grey
Family: He has a mother, for whom he works in a boat-carving business, until he is to be married to a wealthy young Haka. He is the second son of three Gehaka sons in his family. He only obliged to being engaged because the Haka was nearly as beautiful as he, but the match may not work out after all. His apathetic nature leaves almost all around him cold and angry by the time he leaves their company. He has a violent temper and unleashes it on all, including Hakas.
Personality: Jiro is very straight-forward and a tad narcissistic about the markings on his ears and wings. These are a recessive trait passed down from his ancestors through his mother's bloodline and his mother has always praised him as the most beautiful. (No doubt it's added to his ego.) A master swordsman, Jiro is worthy against almost any foe and can easily defend himself as well as his betrothed Haka.
Hobbies: Staring at himself in the mirror, grooming, and strutting around being his mother's favorite.

Journal Entry 05/09
At the present my best friends are Enju, whom I met for the first time at the Magoi Spa and Inn, Ren, who I just met in the Hikari meadow, and a beautiful Haka by the name of Shinku.
Shinku and I literally ran into one another on my way to deliver a new hand-sewn kimono. Poor thing fell over and hurt his ankle and his head rather badly. In an attempt to redeem myself, I brought him to the Magoi Spa and Inn and healed a rather serious wound on his forehead with the herb mother uses to treat my hemophelia. I met his brother, Sei, soon after before we entered the spring and found out that Shinku is already engaged to a Gehaka by the name of Hachiro.
I'm having very mixed emotions about the whole situation right now because I've only known Shinku for the past few days and I don't want to seem to rush it, but... I love him, I think. Hope he feels the same... *sigh*

Am getting rather tired of my Haka complaining about my attitude and am close to taking him out with my sword... though I'm sure mother would be disgraced by such an action and I wouldn't be her favorite anymore. It's a shame... I could kill him within minutes and I'm not allowed to.
He's definitely not as handsome as I am, despite what mother said. I guess that's what happens when you trust the opinion of others. Anyway, I think I'm going to find a way to get out of this stuffy house and find some better Hakas to entice... shouldn't be too hard...
I love me... *smirks*

Journal Entry 05/13
I think that Shinku might be very displeased with me. I let on that I thought he would treat me the way other Hakas have, dismissing me because I look so weak and pale. He didn't like that at all and now I think I've really hurt his feelings. I didn't mean to lie to him when I said that nothing was wrong, but I didn't want to bother him.
He wants to meet me tomorrow in the gardens nearby and says that he'll provide a letter and a token to mother so that I might be able to come. I hope it works, and that he shows up. I shouldn't be surprised if it doesn't work.
-LATER-
Came home after delivering the clothes mother had originally sent me to deliver when I tripped over Shinku in the square. She was very cross that I was home late and that the Haka was displeased with his clothes; the mud from the puddle I fell in was still all over the box, but the clothes were unharmed. I was lucky.
A letter came later from Shinku's family asking if I could be allowed to meet him tomorrow in the Gardens. Mother hasn't given me an answer yet, and I believe I saw a token was sent, but I've yet to see what it actually is...
Please let mother allow me to see Shinku again - I swear I'll go mad if I don't...

Journal Entry 09/15
The wedding has been called off because my silly Haka fiance whined to his mother. She called the wedding off and made mother pay the family back for greivances. A greivance? Me? How preposterous. The fact that I took more than one look at that silly, frivilous little Haka should make his family proud... ingrates...
Anyhow, mother's not pleased with me and now has me working back at the boat workshop with Shizuka and the rest of her worthless Gehakas. I feel degraded just being around the lot, especially my younger brother. The weakling may carve boats well, but let's see him weild a sword and defend himself. When that day comes, I would gladly give him respect. The little worm is in trouble right now for disturbing some Haka, and I'll be lucky if mother doesn't send me to keep an eye on the two of them when they go to meet tomorrow.
Perhaps I'll have some fun with dear little Shi and see if I can tempt his lovely cling-on. If you can call it that. Show the little squirt how a real Gehaka wins a trophy... by cunning and charm, not honesty and humility.
Still love me... heart

Journal Entry 09/17:
Wow. The unthinkable has happened.
Shinku met me in the garden today and, when he saw the bruises mother left on me for being late, he immediately said that I was to be his husband and that I would never be hurt again. He gave me an engagement bracer and now... well... I just don't know what to do I'm so happy! I could just explode with joy!
*dances around giddily* I LOVE SHINKU SO MUCH!

Journal Entry 6/18
I'm so glad that Shinku and I are together! He was immediately interested in finding the herbs I need to help with my illness. I'm so grateful. But it was a frightening adventure. He and I had to journey down this really dark, dank, shadowy alleyway to find the Apothecary's shop. The apothecary himself was no masterpiece. He was bent over and old and just... well, let's just say that I'm pleased that we left.
Shinku has agreed to come home with me to have some tea and calm our nerves. I'm afraid of what Jiro and mother may say, but I'm trying to be calm and hope the two aren't home... please don't let them be home...

RP ENTRY
Shizuka began feeling less tense and more easy as he neared his home. The man working in the apothecary had been more than intimidating to the shy gehaka. It seemed that Shinku had relaxed a bit as well and was enjoying the scenery as the two quietly strode toward the banks of the Xang Zou river, where Shi's mother's house was. The Haka's green eyes were darting here and there over tree and flower that litttered the side of the road they were on. Shi smiled to himself as he thought about how much more Shinku would have to look at once the two arrived at the Tsukiko family residence.
The reds and oranges of the sunset would be glimmering off of the dancing waves as they lapped at the Xang Zou's banks and the carved boats moored on the pier near Shizuka's personal workshop would whisper silently as their master passed. He was afraid he hadn't cleaned the wood shavings from around his newest boat since before he had met Shinku and wondered if the haka would think less of him for not having cleaned before hand. His mother's gehakas would still be inside working away at hollowing out the trunks of trees to be made into suitable crafts or sent to Shi to be carved for some special occasion.
Shi looked at Shinku and smiled as they neared the clearing where he lived. He awaited his love's reaction to the home, the river, the boats, to see whether or not he approved and was interested in any of these.

Bright sun trickled down, warming his shoulders banishing the tenseness from the little shop and alleyway. His finger tips ran up and down his arms feeling the goose bumps disappear, the crooked Gehaka had frightened him; yet, he had been to proud to show such an emotion. It was not a proper emotion for a Haka. He gave a little snort, rage and anger seem the only ones they where allowed to show.
A shake of his head, hair bellowing around him banished such a thought. His ears twitched as rushing gurgling of a river sounded near. Shizuka lived on a river? With such beautiful flora as well, trrees and small flowers. He glanced up the sun casting light of red and oranges as it begain to set the merry rays dancing on the waters.
Boats as well and such beautiful creations they where. The smell of fresh shaving lingued a nice woody scent. He stopped in his tracks, eyes on the newest one. "Did you carve it?" He finally asked looking up at Shizuka. It was such a lovely looking boat.

Shizuka followed Shinku's eyes to the boat and nodded, wincing a bit. It wasn't quite finished and he was such a perfectionist that he wanted to hide the dreadful thing so the Haka couldn't see it. "It's um... it's not finished... but, yes. I carved it. What do you think of it so far?" he asked, scratching the back of his head nervously. He knew Shinku liked it by the way he looked at it, but he couldn't quite be sure. Jiro watched with mounting interest as Shi walked into the yard of the Tsukiko's Family workshop and smirked. Then his eyes widened at the Haka following close behind him. Shinku was quite a beauty, he thought to himself and decided that he might just have to steal his little brother's brand new fiancee. As the two meandered over the little prat's newest and crappiest carving, the green-striped Gehaka watched with eagerly.
The Haka seemed friendly enough, giving Shizuka googly-lovey eyes. He was apparently very attached to the pasty-complected Shi. Jiro frowned a bit and decided it was time to break up the little party.
"So, how much did you pay this beauty to follow you home, Shizuka?" Jiro said with a clear growl in his voice. "Or is it blind? It apparently doesn't know a worthless creature when it spots one."

"It's lovely." The haka eyes darken with sorrow and he looked at his hands. Soft hands but for the worked left with practice with the metal fan. He was not allowed to create such a beautiful pratical work of art. He gave a little sigh, shaking himself from his momentary depression. "How long did it take you to create this?"
Shinku whirled, green eyes wide with a bit of fright as well as shock. His dainty fingers formed fist, the long sharp tiny black nails gleaming. "I beg your pardon? What was that you said?" He finally forced out.
