User ImageName: Catelyn Catigern

Nickname: Katie, occasionally 'Catty'

Age: 19

Birthday: June 1st

Sign: Gemini

Gemstone: Pearl

Blood Type: B +

Fav. Food: Granola bars and trail mix, quick things you can eat on the run!

Hated Food: Crab legs. Too much effort for too little food.

School: Sovereign Heights

Hobbies:

Journalism - Hobby is a loose word to describe how Katie feels about journalism. She has a passion for it, and with any luck it's what she intends to do as a career. Katie is constantly in the loop on all the local news circuits, and is just about always looking at her phone to get the latest scoop. It's not enough to just hear about the news, though, and as one of the newest members of Shlip's school newspaper, she's always out and about, searching for interviews, hunting for the truth of a situation. There's no yellow journalism here--Katie's not about to take any bribes to tarnish what she finds!

Volleyball - Katie did four years on her high school's girls volleyball team, and her junior and senior year they even competed in the state championship. The team focused on rotating positions so that everyone got a chance to play each part, but she enjoyed middle blocker the most, despite being relatively short for the sport. It's hard for her to find a place to play these days, but she keeps up with some of her conditioning, just in case the need arises.

Conspiracy Theories - Katie doesn't always check the mainstream news--who knows what the agenda is there--and it leads her to some pretty interesting theories. She doesn't actually believe in Big Foot, or Aliens, or any number of other things the National Enquirer might be going on about, but...hey, what if?

Virtues:

Inquisitive - At Katie's core is a sharp, intellectual mind, full of wonder at the mechanisms of the world. She's been asking 'why' since she knew how, and no matter the explanation nothing quite seems to sate her curiosity. This drives her passion for investigative journalism, to get to know people, to do just about anything, because as much as she might know, she's always thirsty for more. Along that vein, Katie is often the first to ask questions, to make mistakes, and to dive headfirst into whatever new discovery is to be had. After all, if she won't, then who will?

Clever - While Katie might not be the head of her class, and often times is classified as a B student, there's no denying that she carries a spark of intellect in her head. Where she excels is in improvisation thinking, and Katie is quick to MacGuyver a given situation to her needs. This translates into the way she communicates, as a fast talker and someone prone to stream-of-consciousness speaking. Her humor is also quick-witted, and she's often the first to make jokes when the opportunity arises. Puns are her absolute favorite, often to the chagrin of her peers.

Determined - For someone who seemingly flits between subjects at random, Katie can actually be quite single-minded when it comes to the completion of a project. If Katie needs an interview for a deadline, then she employs every resource she has to get the goods. She's flexible enough to attack from different angles, but she's not likely to stop until she succeeds or she wears herself out. Katie isn't afraid to dust herself off and try again, at least not while there is hope for success.

Flaws:

Paranoid - There's no such thing as coincidence--everything is linked, however small the connection, and as long as you find one piece of the puzzle, everything else will fall into place. At least, that's the way Katie sees things. She is more willing to concoct a complicated story about how the universe is out to specifically screw her over than accept that sometimes bad days happen, and even less likely to accept that failure was caused by some oversight on her part. Katie is quick to lose the forest for the trees and fixate on something that might not actually be of any importance, just to validate her own opinions.

Loose-lipped - Oh my God, did you hear what Susan did yesterday??? Even if Katie might seem like someone with experience and sagely wisdom that can give good advice, she's just as likely to use you as an example for the next person she talks to. She knows it's a bad habit of hers, and she's burnt more than a couple of bridges on the inability to keep her mouth shut, but really, secrets are something employed to keep the masses complacent. The truth must be revealed!

Impatient - Katie's mind is always moving a mile a minute, which means she has little time for frivolous things like waiting her turn. It's not that she thinks she deserves to skip other people to get what she wants or that she's 'better' than anyone else, she just needs to be constantly stimulated by the world around her or she's likely to make some excitement for herself. Unless she can be sufficiently distracted, Katie will whine every second of a stake-out, and if she's not making some sort of gripe, then she's jumped the gun and moved into the fray itself.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Slightly creased and a bright grapefruit-colored pink.

Hair: Katie's got mid-long hair with straight-cut bangs. Her color is naturally a bold, saturated orange, and is styled in a bun. Note that she has longer bangs on the sides of her face that curl at the ends.

Face: Katie's got an oval face with a strong nose and soft cheekbones, her forehead exceptionally tall when her bangs aren't in place. Her skin is pale, blushes easily, and is covered in freckles.

Clothes: Mix and match from the wardrobe here

Knight Title: Chauvet (pronounced show-VAY) Page of the Cosmos

Challenge: "Tag me in!" or "You belong in a museum!" or "The ball is life."

Uniform: 1920s, Mucha, Noncombative

Original Design - Not current hair! Concept by Silverah Robe de Style dress Alternate dress style Concept Art - Current Design

References for thought:

Headpiece - Squire or later?
Dress Idea

Top -- Think robe de style dress (shown above) in cosmos white with shimmer. The bottom of the dress should feature gold swirled motif or stars, whatever you feel is appropriate. Possible translucent underskirt?
Bottoms -- Multi-tiered skirt, see above.
Gloves -- Later stages maybe?
Belt -- No belt.
Shoes -- Ballet flats, gold trimmed.
Shoulders -- Starry shawl (progresses to boa?)
Accessories -- Head-wrap with circular embroidery, as shown above.
Weapon -- Bouncy ball -> Two Floating Spheres -> Three Floating Gilded Spheres

Squire Magic: Chauvet can direct one of the spheres to a target ally within 6 feet, who upon acceptance of the sphere begins to glow with an effervescent light. As long as Chauvet is in possession of the other sphere and channeling (up to 30 seconds), target ally is protected by a shield of energy made of starlight. This shield dulls magical effects and blunt physical damage, but does not outright protect the target from harm (particularly from slashing or piercing damage), and shatters after an appropriate number of magical attacks (two basic level, one super or eternal). Once in possession of the ball, target ally can move freely within 15 ft of Chauvet and keep the buff. If either the target or Chauvet loses possession of the ball, the connection is severed and the shield is dropped. If the shield is broken at any point, Chauvet loses any remaining time for the channel, and the shield cannot be used again. However, if the ball is passed back to Chauvet, she is able to retain the unused portion of magic for another target.

Knight Magic: Chauvet directs two of the spheres to rotate around a single target ally, keeping hold of the third and concentrating (she must remain still to continue channeling her magic). A translucent sphere made of gilded starlight crackles around the target in a 6 ft diameter, shielding the ally and other allies in this diameter for up to 30 seconds. This shield is impenetrable to Chaos creatures (including youma and half-youma) and any attempts to enter the shield causes them repelled by a pulse of burning starlight. Chaos-aligned characters (Negaverse/DMC) may breach the sphere but feel a minor burning sensation similar to the Cosmos aspect, and attacks from these characters will be dulled (but not negated). Attacking the shield itself will eventually cause it to dissipate (one attack from a third level character, two attacks from second level, and three from first level). Chauvet herself is targetable while channeling, and if either the target ally or Chauvet loses possession of the ball, the connection is severed and the shield is dropped. At any time, Chauvet may reclaim possession of her weapon, allowing her to store any remaining time for a different target.

Note: Chauvet Page is intended to be the next incarnation of Degrasse Page, who made an appearance in the Mistral Event. To avoid confusion and to minimize retconning, I would like to establish in canon that Degrasse was the civilian name of SilMil Chauvet, and the direct incarnation of Gwen (Degrasse/Chauvet!A). Gwen, having visited her wonder, stumbled upon the name and chose it for herself as a moniker, using it instead of the more formal 'Chauvet'.

Katie (Chauvet!B) is next in line for the mantle of Chauvet, and perhaps more suited for it, but lived in a different state when Chauvet first awakened as Gwen. When Katie moves to Destiny City, the need for Chauvet in the war causes her to awaken. Most memories she might glean from her wonder would feature Degrasse, from the Silver Millenium, but I would like to run at least one solo of her recalling Gwen's only encounter with the Wonder itself.

Hi, Ami! Nyx passed this to me, so in a surprise plot twist, I'll be doing your crit and trial stamp.

The civ portion looks good, no complaints there. For the powered section, though, I have some concerns regarding the magic. Namely, I feel like the effective areas are too big. I think that allowing the target to travel in a 50-foot area after receiving something possibly 10 feet out might be too much for Squire magic. I'd cut the areas to 6 feet for initiating the buff, and allow the target to go in a 15 foot area around Chauvet. For the Knight magic, I feel like the shield being totally impenetrable to Chaos (with the exception of magic attacks) might be too much; it sounds like only DMS magic or Corrupt magic could break it, leaving conventional Negas out. Could you please include some other weakness for it?

Also, a detail note- aside from the target or Chauvet dropping the ball, is there a way to dismiss the magic if there's no need for it (like passing the ball back to Chauvet)? The descriptions mention that dropping the ball or shattering the shield cancels the magic, but since the latter zeroes out the magic pool, there should be a way to dismiss the magic without losing the ball or zeroing out the pool. This should apply to the Knight magic too.

That should be it for now. Quote me if you have questions or have made changes!

Hi Sami! Thank you again for the prompt critique. <3

I made all of the suggested edits to the squire magic and reworded the Knight magic a bit to include a weakness (Chauvet must be still) and a nerf on the extent of the shield (only impenetrable to youma/chaos creatures). Also added clarification on dismissal of the shield.

Let me know if this works~

Much better! Here's your trial stamp, and a GM should be around eventually to give you your full stamp.
