User ImageMvua wandered aimlessly through the grasslands, not really having any particular destination in mind. True, as a hunter he was supposed to be assisting in the hunt, but considering the only clouds in the area were the patches of white on his grey fur, he suspected he wasn't going to have much luck today. Of course, the hot sun on his back was far more preferable to weather resembling his stormy appearance. No rain, please and thank you very much. If there was rain, the job to hunt would invariably fall to him, and as much as he enjoyed helping out his pride in any way he could, Mvua hated drying out his mane afterwards.

Yes, this sunny weather truly was the cue to a perfect day. Now, if only there was something more entertaining than miles of grassland. The herds in the distance, perhaps? Yes, that sounded like a good thing to investigate. The herds had a talent for finding nice watering holes to relax next to. If he was lucky, perhaps Mvua would find an unoccupied rock to sun himself on...

It was a good thing none of his family members could see how lazy Mvua truly wanted to be today.

It was another miserable day for the lioness. When would they realize she sucked at this? Like really sucked. Until then, she wandered around trying to catch something. Anything. She completely ignored the giant herds of large animals. There was no way she'd be able to get close enough let alone take one down. Kakra weaved her way in and out of the grasses.

She hoped she could scare something up that would jump right into her paws. It was about the only way she'd catch something. So far, a couple of warthogs had been spooked, but they ran in the opposite direction. Smart of them.

Well then, that was odd. Mvua certainly wasn't expecting to be dodging terrified warthogs that were running in his direction. Clearly someone had beaten him to the good resting spot. Well, at least the herds hadn't noticed what the warthogs did. Yet. Maybe he'd better ditch laziness for precaution, just for the moment.

Squinting for a moment, Mvua thought he saw /something/ moving through the grasses. He couldn't tell what that something was, but he suspected that something was what had frightened the warthogs. As long as that something was moving towards him and not the herds, he was perfectly fine with this. Dodging warthogs was easy, dodging a herd of wildebeest...not so much.

Mvua debated saying something, a greeting of some kind to acknowledge his presence. Of course, if it was one of the lions of his pride, he'd probably be recruited into the hunting expedition he was avoiding today. Also, whoever it was seemed pretty intent. Mvua decided on sitting down and simply watching the events before him until he knew more about the situation.

Kakra flicked her ears. Wait was that...? She had heard a sound there. Something had yet to flee. The tawny lioness crouched in the hopes she could pound on something. On cue, a stick and leave cracked under her foot. The sound of foot running off told her whatever it was had heard her too.

"Curse these stupid beasts!" She exploded. The lioness plopped her a** on the ground in a sulk. Maybe she'd just go take a nap. Kakra grumbled to herself as she glared at the tempting wildebeasts on the horizon.

Huh. There was another warthog running toward him. That was interesting. Mvua silently prepared for...

Oops, whoever it was running from was shouting now, and warthog the third was losing its mind while running in a totally different direction from where Mvua was sitting. Oh well, no point in that anyway; too much tusk, not enough meat. At least he could tell the reason for the fleeing prey beasts now; it was definitely his fellow lion. Or lioness, from the sound of it.

Well, lazy as he wanted to be, his mother hadn't raised him to be someone who wouldn't aid his fellow pride member. "Want some help?" he called out. Then, upon some thought, "Or perhaps someone to commiserate with?"

She looked up surprised as a voice called out from among the grass. It sounded friendly enough and that's what she needed. "Sure, let me come out of the grass." Kakra stood up and pushed her way free of the tall grasses. While they didn't cover her completely, a tawny lioness in a field of gold could be hard to see.

The lioness stepped into shorter grass and looked around. A grey lion met her gaze and she walked slowly over. "So what brings you out to this dismal area?"

Mvua smiled in in acknowledgement of the new and, thankfully, friendly face. It was certainly decent of her to move out of the grass so that he could see her more clearly.

"To be honest, I was trying to find a quiet spot to be lazy," Mvua laughed heartily. "It's quite an embarassing thing to admit when I see you are working so hard. I just figured, with the day being so bright and nice outside, my stormy coat is only going to hurt the pride if I try to do anything. It's a good thing no one's really relying on me," Anymore, he thought privately, remembering his mother's final illness and how he had taken care of her like she had taken care of him.

"My name's Mvua," he said, realizing suddenly he hadn't even introduced himself. How rude of him.

Kakra cast one scathing look over her shoulder at the grass. "I believe that is the best idea I've heard all day. Mind if I join you?" The lioness rolled her eyes with a laugh. "It's hardly hard work. I walk through the grass and everything runs in the opposite direction." She heaved a sigh. "Even with my pelt i don't have any advantages."

"I'm Kakra. It's nice to meet you Mvua." She glanced around hoping they could chill somewhere nearby.

Mvua broke out into a grin. "A pleasure to meet you as well, Kakra. I was wandering this direction because, if memory serves, there's a nice rocky outcropping that way," he indicated with a toss of his mane.

"I don't mind if you join me," he added. "And, since we've established that everything will run from us in the opposite direction anyway, we should have the nicest, sunniest spots still available to us when we arrive. There's that advantage, at least."

Fin?

She liked this lion's style. Kakra gesture grandly for him to lead the way. "It would be my pleasure if you'd lead the way." A good lay in the sun with some good cheerful company was just what the lioness ordered. She grinned and walked with Mvua.
