Excitement filled the air. It was talked about everywhere, or whispered among the candidates. The clutch had been laid. They were that much closer to a hatching! Vos wondered if she could contain herself that long or if she'd explode first. It was just so hard. Deep breaths, deep breaths.
She was going commando. Chores would have to wait. Vos had heard the rumors, but she needed to see for herself. Rumor had it at a good sized clutch. The brown father must be pleased. The topic that had most gotten her attention was the rumor of a gold egg. Now that was surprising. Vos had not expected it, and she wouldn't believe it was there until she saw it with her own eyes.
The teen laced up her boots and glanced around. She was waiting for the area to clear out so she could slip into the crack that led down to spy on the Sands.

Sarax had been in the Weyr a little more than a day but she had already gotten stuck into chores and lessons, the buzz around the weyr was exciting. She couldn't wait for the hatching to start, she'd even heard that there was such a thing as a Touching, among Whers it was unheard of, you grabbed an egg when you were trained, hoped the gold wouldn't eat your face and get out of there as fast as you could, getting a Wher egg was all about respect and speed, this seemed better in some way, you got to get to know the eggs first. It was when she heard whispers of a illicit peek at the eggs before they were supposed to that got Sarax more excited, she noticed one girl glancing round, as if looking for something, or checking no one was looking at her. Sarax decided there and then to see if this was the girl that was going to see the eggs. "So .. a gold, when are we going to look?" she asked as she bent close by, pretending to tie her own boots.

Vos glanced up as an unfamiliar voice came from nearby her elbow. "Um... well. If ye'r coming with me, then soon." The teen took another slow look around. "I heard them say there's a gold, but I gotta see it with my own eyes 'fore I'll believe its there. They might have been confused, or got it wrong ya know?" She wasn't going to just take someone else's word just cause they say so. She didn't know this girl, Vos was sure. Must be a new one. Mighty brave one to be wanting a peek at the eggs so soon after coming. The teen grinned and stuck out her hand toward Sarax. "Name's Vosin, but Vos works just fine. New here eh?" Under the cover of her bangs she took one more look. It was almost time. "See that rider over yonder? Soon as he leaves we got a clear shot. Get ready to move when I say so."

Sarax smiled, would have laughed had it not been for the fact they were supposed to be escaping notice. "Wouldn't put it past them to get it wrong, reckon some of 'em don't have a wherry brain between them" she said, grinning widely. She stuck her own hand out "Sarax, sometimes Rax depending if you're my friend or not" she said chuckling under her breath, in truth not many called her 'rax, only her parents, she didn't have many friends she cared enough back home that she let call her 'rax, "Ahead of you on that, my boots are already tied" she said, amusement in her tone.

Kalendol had been up for most of the night before, thinking about the energy pouring through the air. So she'd gone out for a walk, trying to get her mind off of things when she'd come across two candidates. One was familiar, the other, not so much. Though that could easily be solved. "What's goin' on?" She questioned with a slight c**k of her head to the left, seemingly a trade mark look for the young seventeen turn old.
had no idea so i went with it. edited to fit situation better?

xXsexxeh_rinnyXx They are in the main caverns, not the candidate barracks, btw. No worries. XD "S'actly. Gotta make sure and all." Obviously the gold would know and take special care of the egg. But it wasn't the gold who had started this rumors. "Welcome Sarax. You've come in good time." Vos snickered as she moved her hands to show her boots were tied, but she'd been playing with the laces. "Alright lets...." If one hadn't been enough, suddenly there was two. At least she was already familiar with this other candidate. "Kalendol. C'mon, we're gonna take a peek at the eggs. Get a real count and see if there's a gold egg like some say." The time was right. Either they'd come along or not. Vos rose to her feet. She nodded to the other girls and headed toward the familiar, yet long unused, crack that lead to the hatching sands spy hole.

"you aiming for the gold one if there is then?" she asked, curious as to why it was important to this girl in particular, perhaps she was ambitious, did she want to have the breeding dragon? Gold Whers were also considered valuable but unlike dragons Gold Whers were just as useful as a Green when it came down to fighting, she wondered about that sometimes, sure Gold dragons provided all other dragons by clutching but what actual use were they beyond that? they couldn't fight Thread... she wasn't knowledgeable that much to have learned or know about the ability to command that Golds had. When someone else showed up Sarax knew that word had really gotten round, and it seemed the first girl knew the new one, well.. probably would they'd been here far longer than she had, perhaps all their lives, she didn't ask if they were Weyrbred or not, "Right, i'll follow you, since you know where you're going' " she said, getting up and following.

Whoa, so, she was really wanting to see if there was a gold then? Kalendol had heard rumors, just run of the mill rumors. Personally, she didn't care so long as a dragon impressed to her, though she didn't think she'd be able to charm a gold, even if there were one. Wasn't a rare thing for a brown to sire a gold egg? Intriguing notion. But she was down to go inspect the eggs. A prospect in itself if truth be told. She was more curious as to what colors were there anyways. Maybe one of them would like me. She thought for a moment, hesitating and then nodding her head. "I'm in." Kalendol grinned, mischief in her hazel eyes.

Vos gave a laugh. "Me? The gold? Nah! I was just curious. See the queen had a brown mate, so I had my doubts that there'd even be a gold egg. What about you two? Gold tickle your fancy any?" Lots of girls dreamed of gold, and most were disappointed. She could have tried to gone that route. Thinking she was better than everyone else, and wound up like all the others when the young queen claimed someone else as her rider. Nope, Vos could do without that. She was pleased when neither girl backed out at the last moment. One always had to worry when one of the group got cold feet. Would they run and tell the headwoman? Particularly if one wasn't a weyrbrat. Vos was in her element as she led the way through the tunnels. Some of them getting small enough for her to turn sideways, but she always waited to ensure her companions were through before moving on. "I wonder how many eggs she laid." The teen mused softly.

The teen followed the leader through the narrow passages, listening silently as they walked. When the question of golds came back to the two non-weyrbrats, the girl smiled and shook her head. "Nah, gold doesn't suit my fancy. I'm a rare tastes kind of person." She chuckled. Yes, she'd much rather be saddled with one of the odd-balls than the typical norms. Atypicals really screamed at her. But, she didn't really care if they didn't like her. "For me, any dragonet who decides to choose me is the dragonet for me." A giggle touched the end of this statement as they moved through the passages.
