She'd come across the aura... well. Sort of last moment. And sort of against rules.

But she'd felt it, racing faster than it should have against her senses, and it'd been enough to lure her away from the relative safety of the small park near her apartment, hitting the rooftops when she realized the lengthy street blocks were simply too long for trying to catch up with... whatever it was.

In the back of her mind a nagging voice was shrill: she was breaking the team rules. Patrolling explicitly alone--though if she were to be honest with herself, she'd never quite followed that rule. Nightly ventures out as Metis was a given, short glimpses of the world through that other sight. Nightly ventures that now included troubling... thoughts.

This mystery was a deeply welcomed distraction from them. And made it so this wasn't a patrol... it was a chase. An investigation. Not a youma or Negaverse patrol.

The aura was fast. Alarmingly so, making her brain twist this way and that while she tried to keep up with the speeds. Far beyond her capabilities. Not a senshi, otherwise she'd have begun to think she was chasing a Senshi of Speed or something... But not Negaverse.

Knight? Wasn't that what Sessrumnir had been? Whatever they were, the energy signature raced to and fro out of her range, never quite staying still long enough for the Super Senshi to catch up.

But it did pause. Here and there, she'd feel it stay still before moving off again.

It'd taken her a while before she managed to piece together the almost... route it was going. It'd started coming back her way, and she'd scrambled down from the roofs with a few words she'd picked up all thanks to her blonde captain. Getting up and down from rooftops wasn't exactly fun in long skirts and heels.

Whoever had designed these outfits had clearly never thought of those horrible implications.

She'd had to cross a few more residential streets before she'd lingered in the empty lot, peeking this way and that through the bouncing waves of copper and lingering green. No other bodies in her line of vision yet, though she could sense the approaching signature. Tentatively, she stepped towards the road, keeping her ears open for any possible incoming traffic and face towards the direction she was catching the aura from.

And kept her hands clasped tightly in front of her. No need to give in to her unease and hit whomever it was with her magic... She'd already seen how that could blow up in her face.

If sleepless nights hadn't been enough to convince him to hang up his keys for a while, the unexpected Senshi in the road certainly was, and he drew up with more burned off rubber than he would have liked, skidding the back tire part way around. He was at a safe distance from her, but the delayed reaction time scared him sufficiently to put his head down on the handle bars for a moment and heave a shaky sigh.

"Holy crap Are you ok?"

He was pretty sure she was... or at least that it wasn't his fault if she wasn't... but he was definitely going to put his keys in a drawer until he solved the sleeping thing. Trying to stay awake and a head of his nightmares and exhaustion by finding things to fight just... it wasn't working. And stranger fragments of things had gotten mixed in with the nightmares about the race track. Not much he could put his hands on yet, but he'd dreamed of being stronger, but in a darker, nightmarish time, that was almost worse than the dreams about Castor, since one thing he remembered about them was how much further they had slid away from anything that resembled 'balance'.

"What's going on? Is there a youma? Something else?" He couldn't think of another good reason for someone to be standing there like that, and it hadn't occurred to him that she might have actually been there looking for him"

Sorrycouldn'tresist. Kind of imagining Metis just standing there looking faintly wind ruffled and badass.

Probably the only reason she didn't use her magic was the simple fact she could hear the motor running in whatever beast of a vehicle it was. Motorcycle, she had to guess. The fact she could see the rider's aura so unhindered, and the vague outline of the beast, made it the only option she could potentially pin-point. She didn't think a scooter or something sounded quite like that.

Didn't stop her from backpedaling when the vehicle came to a burning, screeching stop. Even at a distance from her, she'd taken a few hasty steps back just in case, though not without concern of if the rider would be thrown. Seeing the figure bend over for a moment, she began to approach again, relying only on the lack of Chaotic unease coming from the aura.

Plus the fact he'd--it was a man, right?--bothered to ask if she was alright made her feel a bit more confident in her approach. "Yes, I'm fine. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." Least that was her only assumption for his form of stopping. Were there no lights on this street? Oh dear. That thought made the blood drain from her face a bit, realizing how big of a mistake she must have made stepping out into the street at all. She'd simply assumed they'd be able to see her...

His questions had her shaking her head slightly, a bit of color returning to her cheeks as she gave a small, if a bit awkward, smile. "No, no. Quite night actually. No, um..." Metis paused, cocking her head a little as she took in the sight of his aura bouncing around the inanimate shape of whatever he was riding. "I was.... confused about the energy signature I felt. I... sorry. I've just never sensed anyone moving so quickly. I wasn't sure what you were," she added somewhat hastily in her honesty, hearing quite clearly just how ridiculous it all sounded.

Cherry on top: "What are you driving?"

The problem wasn't the lack of light so much as the lack of sleep, and he rubbed his hand over his face for a moment before answering, misunderstanding the question because he didn't understand the reason behind it.

"WHat? Oh, it's... it's sort of a mess. A lot of it's Honda parts but there are other parts of other s**t in there as well..." He explained, shutting off the engine and pulling the keys out.

"Ha, I hadn't thought of it, but I guess I can see that being pretty weird." He admitted, regarding the issue of speed. "Not the audience I'm hoping to have in fear of this thing."

She'd known Ellie for the last almost five years--almost the entirety of her time as a senshi in fact--and wasn't unaccustomed to random babble about motorcycles. She'd even tried to look up information here and there, all in an attempt at being able to actually offer something to the conversation. Not that that did too much for her, but hey. Attempts were made. Unfortunately she still only knew company and brand names as just that, and he could have lied through his teeth about it being a limited edition of something and she'd have been none the wiser. "Construct it yourself?" Genuine interest. She might not have known anything, but didn't stop her from being impressed by those that did. "Do you race? Or more leisure ride?"

Without a threat of potential danger, Metis approached more casually, though still maintaining a respectful distance. "I never said I was afraid, just... confused. Nor do I think people would fear it--at least not someone on Order's side." She might not have had much experience with knights, but she could at least--now--tell the difference between a Chaotic and Order aura. "It's actually rather brilliant. You can cover so much more ground this way in only a fraction of the time. I don't suppose you're able to attach a police scanner hm? Or if the guardians could come up with a senshi cell scanner..." Her musings faded off into thought on that, peering at the vague outline. It really would increase productivity on patrols if more people took to traveling like that. A more concise form of communication would also assist in that, never mind be easier to call out for backup beyond having to rely on summoning a phone mid-battle.

Rousing herself from her thoughts she gave a small laugh, taking another few steps to offer her hand to the copper figure. "I'm so sorry, that was a complete tangent. I'm Metis."

"I meant the whole..." He started to explain, then decided to not discuss his shortened attention span for the mean time. "Iris owns one as well, I just don't see her using it for patrol. But hers has a far more recognizable paint job. "Covered in Rainbows" is a hair more easy to relay than "black". Police Scanner is a pretty kick a** idea though."

It was one way to keep an ear on trouble, though he'd have to sort out short hand codes. Doable though. He wondered if the rings cou... no. No not continuing that thought. Use earth tech. Cats didn't handle rings that he knew of, or things would have been a damn sight easier.

"I don't know if cat tech works with knight magic, but it would be interesting to see if they could come up with something that worked for both factions. Last time someone tried to upgrade the signet rings it... wasn't worth the price tag."

Her head titled a bit when he cut a thought short, but she couldn't help but grin when he brought up the Asteroids' Captain. "She's described her bike to me before. Would love to see someone's first impression of it... and then their impression after actually meeting the rider." The extremely colorful ride always appealed to her personally, but she could only imagine the stereotypes the paint job would likely inspire before they were shot down but actually meeting Ellie.

It didn't really surprise her that Iris' name was around, the Senshi of Rainbows wasn't exactly new on the scene, or reclusive. "You're right though. A paint job like that is a bit more telling than a more nondescrip color like black. Our glamour likely doesn't extend to vehicles, so I suppose there's the risk of someone actually putting something together if she also was then sighted on it as a civilian..." There were reasons beyond just safety for her dog that had Lilith always leave Raja at home when she patrolled, though if anyone some how made that connection it would be... quite the conversation, she imagined.

"Why not bring the subject of a police scanner up to *********? I'm... afraid I'm not versed in knight magic at all. So pardon my asking, but... signet rings? How exactly do they work for a knight?" It wasn't like she had much of a chance to prod for information about the other Order faction, and if he didn't mind elaborating... The rather ominous last line though got him quite the furrowed brow and troubled frown. She didn't verbalize her question, but her curiosity was certainly making her tempted to poke the line.

"I'm... not sure if ********* can tweak the rings." Kairatos admitted, twisting the ring on his finger. "Then again I haven't asked. Signet rings are what we get instead of phones. Used to be we had to write a note, seal it, and jam it in to send it. Now if you get the upgrade from Mistral... you can be all star wars. Talk in live time, record things... send holograms through the ring..."

He tugged it off his finger and held it out to her. "Here have a look."

His own had the twisting pattern of a labyrinth on the flat of it.

"Probably won't work for you but you can get the basic idea."

Metis made a simple ah in response to the initial information, intrigued by the fact knights obtained rings while the senshi gained phones. Was it just their connection to the guardian cats? Though surely Mauvian technology should be able to extend to all Order factions... couldn't it? Obviously there was more she was missing here, but the very time-honored use of the rings--written notes that could be sent around? Fascinating!--struck her as more befitting their age old status than... well. A new age phone.

Not that she could complain. Unless she had a ring that could translate everything into braille she would have a bit of trouble.

"Quite the upgrade this Mistral managed," she marveled, impressed by the new capabilities of the rings. "Are they able to connect to a senshi's phone then? Or is that still not possible between the different... ah, modes of communication?" When the knight pulled off the ring, she wasn't quite sure what he was doing, only seeing his copper shape move around until she realized he was holding it out to her. Blinking a few times in puzzlement--his limbs weren't exactly visible to her against the silhouette of his... well, entire self--she paused to remove her long black gloves. Textile wasn't exactly possible with them on, but once she had them secured under one of her upper arms against her side, she cupped her hands and held them towards Kairatos instead.

"I'm sorry, but I'm... not able to see where it is. I would still love to examine your ring, it would just have to be my way," she explained with a grin, eyes looking beyond him. Oh she could have moved around a bit till she better caught the outline of his hand and then poked from there with her hand till she found the ring held within, but she figured this was probably the more tactful way of going about the whole ordeal.

"O...oh." You didn't have to see him do a double take, it was obvious in his voice. "Sorry!" He floundered, as much amazed as anything else. A blind senshi?

He reached out to place the ring in her hand so that she could examine it. "I... haven't had a chance to ask. I only know one Mauvian and she's not one who tends to pop out pens or anything. I'll have to ask next time I run into someone. It would be pretty useful."

He was dying to ask how she got around, but he was pretty sure she heard that every single time someone figured out she was blind and it probably drove her up a tree.

"What's your sphere?" He asked, which seemed slightly more politic.

Her smile didn't waver or grow or anything. Yes it was a tad common for reactions to vary, but she wasn't going to hold it over anyone's head. To be fair, hers wasn't the most typical case even for as long as she'd been a senshi herself. Something that... well, confused her, to put it lightly, when there were so many people in the world and so many powered individuals.

"Don't apologize, you're fine," she laughed, taking the ring as he handed it to her. Her fingers ran lightly over the carvings in the ring. Small, but intricate, the design fascinated her. She traced it with a nail, pausing as she registered the shape, then tried again to make sure she'd... actually been right. Only to grin after a quick moment. "A maze? Is that what it's showing?" Far better than a cell phone, even if she was fond of hers. "Where did you get it?" Obviously not a guardian. That had been already stressed to death.

There were a few standard questions she was used to, powered and not. He at least went the more universal route. She couldn't stop from laughing though before she controlled enough to get out, "Senshi of the Third Eye." A finger tapped against her forehead where the sapphire in her tiara sat. "I rather enjoy the cosmic joke. And I really do mean it, not being sarcastic," Metis added among a second round of laughter.

Ryuthulhu
PostPosted: Mon Dec 22, 2014 5:06 pm

"It is a maze." He confirmed. "I found it at my Wonder, it's on Mars. I'm pretty sure there's a maze there, but I haven't found it yet. Probably just as well. I'd hate to have to jump back to earth to get un-lost on my own wonder. This was in... I guess it was my office... once. Put it down between stamping things I guess and took this long to go back and get it again."

It was still weird to talk about past lives and not expect to be looked like you were crazy or get jokes about being Marc Anthony or Cleopatra.

"How does that work out for a sphere?" He asked, genuinely curious. "Sorry, not trying to be nebby, Being a knight seems to be a little less fancy, you have a little magic but not really a sphere. It's more like a perk to go with the boosted punching power."

Intrigued by the jewelry, she offered it back towards its owner. She felt no groves to open the ring up somehow, or anything that she could think would make the ring suddenly spring to magical life. Whatever methods the rings were used by, it was beyond her. Perhaps it was the same then vice versa if a knight were to try to use a senshi's cell? Would it even turn on for them or register they were hitting the screen?

The mention of his planet though had brought a wide grin to her face--she'd met a celestial neighbor then!--not that she wasn't already amused by the idea of being lost one's own maze. "Now that's just mean if being its patron knight means the maze doesn't give you magical clues or something. Just make sure you have a lot of bread crumbs or a good size ball of thread to lead you back to the start." Not that she realized her own irony in that one. The mention of past lives didn't ruffle her in the slightest, either. She didn't have any of her own, but she felt... something when she was near the Asteroids. It was enough for her, that familiarity. "You don't need to answer this if you don't want, but did you actually get to see it as your office or was it more just a sense?" At some point, she wanted to return to her asteroid, though a part of her was reluctant. Would it be better to bring someone? Or go alone?

"I'll explain my sphere at least if you don't mind explaining a knight's magical perk?" she offered before giving a small shrug, hands clasped before her. "My first attack resulted in blinding people temporarily--an orb I'd summon would burst in front of them and blind them with the light. My second magic however... same orb, but now it seems to give people images of the future." Metis paused, unsure how that would be taken given... well. If he was one of those who saw similar phantoms in dreams and memories that didn't always seem like memories.

"I... a little bit of both? I get memories sometimes, sometimes I just go 'Oh yeah this was a thing'." He shrugged, though he knew now she couldn't see the gesture. It was habit. "I... don't know why it does one or the other, coin toss as far as I can tell, but it can be very distracting. "My magic, I've only used it once, but my opponent who probably could have flattened me into a knight shaped pancake suddenly all out retreated. I haven't played around with it much but I think it was a little... It was like the magical equivalent of showboating 'Rar I'm big and scary don't screw with me even though you could probably pop my had off my shoulders with your thumb'."

"I... think it does more than that but I haven't used it on an ally." He was actually pretty damn sure it did more, but it was awkward to explain that you were pretty sure it did more because you had seen it in a future that might not be the future anymore. Even knowing that there were others that had seen it, it still wasn't an easy topic to bring up.

She listened intently as the knight tried to explain what encountering past memories was like. Sure it wasn't a crystal clear explanation, but she nodded her head nonetheless. "So it's... sometimes just a sense, like a lightbulb going off in your head, other times it's more... vivid?" Or at least that was what she got from what he'd been saying. She really just.... would have to see if she could experience it for herself and go back to her asteroid at some point...

His magic however was.... ok well not more intriguing but certainly on par to her. "It sounds like... intimidation then? Interesting... sounds like it would be rather useful in the right situations." Tapping her chin a little, she tilted her head. "Have you tried it against a youma..? I don't know how effective it would be with a senshi around, but if you ever wanted to test your magic out more I wouldn't be against helping out and seeing if we could round up some youma as well." At least she didn't see the harm in offering.
