Waivers for those under 18 had to be signed to carve, but there were craft supplies for those too young or lacking a parent to wield a knife. Local artists had booths set up while a stage was erected for some local bands to help entertain.
The allure of free pumpkins wasnt the only thing that was to draw people- the non-profit was hosting the banner that for each pumpkin carved, $5 would be donated to a local food bank, with no upper limit. People could also donate at one of the booths and have their donation matched, also with no upper limit, but the event itself was more than just free halloween decor- it was a community effort to see Destiny City flourish in tough times, especially with the holidays coming up!
Those seeming to run the event are dressed in various costumes, and a lot of cats seem to be running about, milking the children for pets and various bites of food.
The only sign that there might have been anything 'nefarious' was a lack of nefarious activities. It was, for once, something normal.
