Accounts / UsernamesOctober 13th, 2014: Zero Omega Zyvox QUESTION:
Will we ever be able to rename our usernames into something that has already been "taken", but that account has been inactive for 10+ years?!
Pretty unfair that there are some cool usernames that we can't use because someone made an account in '03 with that name, and never logged back in after making their account...
What are you going to do with all these outdated, spam accounts?! You can always file a ticket about this and we'll see what we can do. We can't guarantee that we'll be able to change a name from an old account to give to you because that's the only recourse a user has to get back into their account. However, it doesn't mean it isn't impossible.

In regards to old accounts, is there a way for someone to have their old email to be changed to something current especially if they can't access that email that's connected to their account? Yes! Just file a ticket in our Help Center!

December 8th, 2014: Zero Omega Fooled Again miscwill you ever introduce tickets in which you can change your name a user that has already been taken, but must reach certain requirements such as not logging in for a set amount of time, etc. If there is a name you want on an old account, simply file a ticket and we'll see what we can go ahead and do for you. There is no guarantee that you'll get the name, but we can see if it's possible.

December 15th, 2014: Zero Omega Fooled Again miscwill you ever add a name change ticket option, it doesnt fit the criteria for the other subjects and sup-topics.. We could consider it, we don't want to necessarily draw a lot of attention to it as there is no guarantee we can give you the name. However, you can use the subject, "Issues with items/gold" and as long as you specify what it is you're looking for we'll understand how best to assist you.

March 2nd, 2015: Zero Omega stardustie1 ACCOUNT My sister and coworker no longer plays on Gaia and hasn't since 2009. She has given permission for me to have her account but cannot remember the details about it. What can she do so I can have the account? She would have to file a ticket and then we can work with her to possibly get the account back. However, we really do not condone the sharing or giving away of accounts. In order to make sure both your accounts stay safe, she should just give you the items if she gets control of it again if she no longer wants to use Gaia. Zero Omega stardustie1 ACCOUNT I have a banned account from 2009. Can I get back into now since it has been so long? We no longer accept appeals 90 days after the account was banned, a ban from 2009 will more than likely not be over turned at this point as it has been so long, sorry. :c

It could even be something so simple as: "Formerly known as _______." for a week and then disappear. It just makes everything so much easier on the person who changes their username and their friends. This is possible, but at the moment it's not a planned update.

This feature was implemented as a way to help curb hackers moving gold and items into new account and a way to stop illegal gold buyers and sellers from bouncing gold around accounts.

July 14th, 2015: Zero Omega himecchi Features/Misc?Is there any possibility of cleaning out usernames that have not been logged into in X amount of years? Like, even if you send out an email to the email attached to the accounts first and give a warning that they'll be deleted after X amount of days if not logged into. The amount of unused accounts is amazing. Right now the way to do it would be filling a ticket with your username request and we can see if it's possible to get you the name. We haven't considered a username sweep in a while so we're not sure if it's something that we'd be doing anytime soon, if ever.

I have another question >x< There are people that left Gaia a long time ago and for the accounts that have been sitting there collecting dust for three to five years, probably have rare items that some of us can never find because there's a hoard where no one can get to it. So I was wondering if you guys are ever going to do anything with old accounts no one uses anymore and maybe re-auction out the things? We auction things off on Flynn's Plunder (granted we haven't had a chance to update it in a couple days) which is our way of bringing some things back into circulation.

Maybe something like a sort of 'ownage' system? Like when you change your username, if you want to can choose to keep someone else from using that username? Like I enjoy coming up with my own usernames, putting cool/weird words together and I worry every time I change my username someone will just take my old one because they liked it. Which I don't like because it's something I put time into thinking up and creating. Probably not. If you change your username you're committing to that new username, unless you claim it on a mule.
