That was a few hours ago. The mover phonies had dropped the cart full of luggage off and left without helping him unload. His new home was a one bedroom stable near the various restaurants and food carts of Phonyland. It was simple enough. Nice, plastic wood siding, a sturdy roof, and an eye levl brick wall along the sidewalk, breaking for a few feet at the walkway to the door.

He mildly swore under his breath as he hefted a box of cookbooks off the cart, dragging it over the ground and into the empty living room. He released the box.

"One down, fifty thousand to go. Worthless movers." he growled.

Dramatis Personae had been kicked out of the house one afternoon to "go get some fresh air," which to her meant that she'd clearly done something terrible and the universe was getting back at her for her misdeeds. Clearly, she needed to bestow her great charity and kindness on somebody so that she could go back inside and take a nice, peaceful nap all wrapped up in a feather duvet.

But which sucker poor soul was in need of her kind of compassion? Dramatis Personae wasn't the simpering sort of silly filly who swooned at the drop of a hat. She was an independent mare- a young woman striking it out, seeking out the drama, the wrenching opposition, the stark black-and-white contrast that made this world interesting!

And if that meant tough love, well, she could certainly apply that. As she trotted down the street, occasionally fluttering her wings, she practiced throwing smiles at the passers-by. However, they all seemed pretty self-contained inside their own little worlds- nobody seemed to be holding out for a heroine, so to speak.

Until she saw him. Short, stout, and with those tiny wings, barely a pegasus in her opinion- though she'd never say that out loud, that'd be rude. He was unpacking crates from a cart; it looked like he was moving into a tidy little stable near the dinner district. Surely he could use a helping hoof?

Planting her hooves firmly on his sidewalk, she called out to the stallion. "HEY MISTER!" she shouted in her most ladylike out-of-doors voice. "Need any help?"

Macaron was thinking of various insults he would call the movers when he was nearly scared out of his wits by a small filly shouting much louder than he ever thought she'd be able to. He jumped almost a foot into the air and landed roughly, wings spread out stiff. He whirled on the filly, eyes wide in a glare.

"Where do you get off scaring me like that!?" he shouted, huffing. "I could have died you know!"

Help? Why, this foal was no bigger than his shoulder. Certainly she would be useless. But, she could carry the easier things.

"Help me? You doing community service?" he said, turning away from her. "Either way, you can try. Just be careful not to break anything."

The filly stared up at the pegasus, eyeing him and his tiny wings. He was easily twice as tall as she was, but she'd managed to scare him? Sigh. Her act of kindness wasn't going as easily as she'd planned; who would have suspected she'd end up with the biggest fraidycat in town? She swallowed her urge to remark about that, though. "I am indeed on a mission to serve this community by helping where I can!" That's what community service meant, right? "I will break nothing!" She looked into the cart, seeing what she could grab. A box labeled "teacups"- hmm, that sounded extremely fragile. But a box labeled "silverware," now that she could handle. She hoisted the box- the spoons and forks inside rattled against each other- and took it into the house.

As the stallion had just moved in, obviously everything wasn't in place yet, and she had no idea where to put the box. It'd be rude to wander about the place to find the kitchen- and besides, what if he wanted to keep the silverware in the dining room? So she put the box along the back wall of the living room and trotted out for another one.

Macaron flinched as the box rattled and clattered. He watched Dramatis wander into the house, and once she was out of sight, he breathed a heavy sigh and grabbed the teacup box, hoisting it over his shoulder with gentle lurches.

He was very glad that she had left that one alone.

Once inside, he realized that the little foal had placed the silverware in the living room. His eyebrow twitched in annoyance, but he held his tongue. For now.

He walked back outside to gather more things and make sure that she didn't grab something valuable.
