It had been awhile since she ventured out in her black uniform, Super Sailor Canopus thought to herself, though why she had refrained from powering up in the first place wasn't quite the mystery anymore. It seemed that the nightmares she had been experiencing were having a rather adverse affect on her desire to power up, and her experiences thus far had not been all too favorable.
It seemed that every time she powered up and jumped through mirrors, bad things happened, and it had taken much convincing to allow the power to flow through her once more. What finally made her overcome her reluctance was the nightmares themselves, as she had noticed that several of her dorm mates had complained of such visions and were prone to sneaking out in the middle of the night to get some coffee at the all night diners. This led them into rather precarious areas of the city, and she couldn't bare the thought of anyone taking advantage of her dorm mates when they were in such a tired state, especially if they would become victims of the Negaverse. So despite knowing that it could have welcomed trouble, she followed after them, keeping to the shadows and remaining as silent as possible, not wanting to startle her dorm mates when she was only thinking about their safety.
They had gotten their drinks and were chatting among themselves, talking about the usual things that sleep deprived young girls usually yammered on about, and Canopus, coffee-less and crouched behind a tree just out of hearing range, could not help but allow her eyes to wonder, in hopes of chasing away the urge to sleep. She had to stay awake. She had to keep her friends safe...
Her eyes caught a familiar figure in the distance, and in her tired mind, she found herself struggling to figure out who it was and where she saw them from...Novacracker I'm so very, very sorry this came so late. If you don't want to do it anymore, I understand completely!

ChibiGingi I'm still totally up for it! Emily rarely went out, and nightmares had all but forced her into her room beyond school and homework. With her luck as a whole lately, Emily just preffered to sit silently, watching and trying to think of how not to end up with a bad dream again. Not that it helped - more people died in her dreams than she admitted, many more made her angry, but the most terrifying ones included her family, dead on the ground and murdered, and Emily rubbed her face. Once such nightmare had driven her from home for coffee, the woman deciding to get some work done late at night, and all she could do was focus on not getting attacked on her way home, glancing around silently. Ca- Zippeite could be lurking, or some cohort, and she didn't want to come outside only to be killed by someone trying to be some sort of nutcase. She just didn't know how, and she wasn't going to own up to being afraid, either. It was safer, and Emily sighed, rummaging for a few dollars to buy coffee. She'd think of something. Maybe. She seemed to miss being watched, though after a moment the hair prickling up the back of her neck gave her pause, and she looked around. "Hello?"

It wasn't Canopus' intentions to startle her, but she could tell that she did by the way Emily came to such an abrupt halt. It was that apprehensive look on her face that reminded the Dark Mirror senshi that she had, indeed, met with her before, and now she was able to pinpoint it.
The park! During that horrific fight! She had spotted Emily among the fighting and had tried to ferry her to safety. Seeing as she was walking around now, though, it was clear that she succeeded, and she had hoped to chase away from of that fear by revealing herself. She stepped into the light and made sure not to speak too loudly, as she looked like a deer venturing out slowly into a meadow when there were potential hunters near by.
"Hello... it's good to see you're okay. Do you remember me?"

Emily blinked, head tilting a moment. Canopus was familiar, the girl thinking before nodding. She'd been kind, and thinking back, Emily appreciated it significantly, and she nodded. "Yeah. ...So... How're you doing?" She asked, smiling a bit.

Almost immediately, the tension in the air had settled some, and Canopus could not help but feel her own smile widen, and though they seemed to be on friendly terms, she knew better than to get too close to her. She seemed rather defensive the last time they met, but the situation was different now.
For starters, there was battle going on around them. Also, she noted that she was without that package in her arms, and this curiosity prompted Canopus to ask. "So, um... how is your package doing? The one you were so feverishly protecting? I hope it made it to its location in one piece..."

Emily smiled a little more genuinely at the question, awjkwardly rubbing the back oif her head and chuxckling. "Oh! My computer case! It's home okay. I got my new computer put together and it works great!" Especially since it was her long off-schol tie to reality. Emily, for her bombast, saw little reason to be out anymore. "Thanks for asking... Have you been safe?" This person had been nice before, was now - it couldn't hurt to try to be nice back. Emily didn't want to come across as lonely though, no matter how true it had become.

'So that's what she was guarding so profusely?' Canopus kept this thought to herself, hoping that her surprised expression wasn't too obvious on her face as she looked Emily over. The way she held that thing made it seem like it was something important, but for Emily, it had been important. And the fact that it made it home safely, along with Emily, was more than enough to appease Canopus.
"That's good to hear!" The Dark Mirror senshi said, hoping she came off as being sincere though given their exhaustion, she was worried that it would have been interpreted wrong. Or maybe she was over thinking things. She was so tired. In regards to Emily's question, she wasn't sure how to answer... these nightmares and visions told such a haunting tell... so much had changed in Destiny City, to the point that Canopus found herself forever trapped within a mirror, sheltering herself from the horrors of the senshi's final days. She chose a life of isolation and solitude instead of living with the tyrants of the Negaverse, or dying with the White Moon, who, day by day, felt more like allies than the Negaverse ever could.
But that wasn't now, she told herself. So, she answered, as truthfully as she could. "As safe as I've ever been. The world's changing... though I hope for the better now."

"Hope is good." Emily admitted, and gave Canopus a faintly sad look, half smiling now. "I've been focusing on getting a good future too. Kind of. Lots of college." All college. That was safest...

Emily might not have been the most talkative person that Canopus met, but what she did have to say rang nothing but truth and wisdom to her. Hope was certainly good... in the future, there was no hope, and they had a ruined city in its wake. They needed hope... though where would they find it, Canopus had no idea.
"College might seem frightening, but I'm sure you'll do great there. Just study hard and keep your head on your shoulders and you'll do just fine."
She caught movement in the corner of her eyes- her classmates had finished their coffee and were getting ready to leave, which meant her time here would be cut short. She didn't want to be rude, but she knew better than to let her dormmates out of her sights. "Um, my name's Canopus. If you ever need help or anything, just... call into a mirror for me, and I'll try and be there as soon as I can. It was nice seeing you again!"

ChibiGingi Canopus made a new friend. XD A mirror- magic? Emily had started at movement and watched the people leaving before nodding, turning to Canopus and - even uncharacteristically for her - hugged the Dark Mirror Senshi tightly. "My name's Emily." She said. After a moment she looked... Genuinely sad and hopeful. "Could we - do something sometime? I mean like - hang out?" Please? was the unsaid part... But Emily didn't want to beg.

Canopus war torn at the moment. She wanted to stick around longer and talk with Emily, seeing that she desperately wanted a friend, or at least someone to talk to, given the sudden hug she gave her. But she didn't want her classmates to get too far ahead of her. Eventually, she rationed that she knew her classmates route well enough to catch up to them later, so she lingered for a bit more. It was the right thing to do, she told herself.
Not to mention, it felt so good to have physical contact with another human being that she couldn't bring herself to push her off, at least not yet. Both of them needed a friend...
"Nice to meet you Emily. I'd like to hang out with you sometime... maybe once we've both gotten some sleep, we can plan something." Only now did she pull away from her, but it was a gentle pull, and she gave Emily's hand a gentle squeeze before pulling away. "I won't lie... it tends to get lonely, with this lifestyle, but no one really ever wants to be alone, right? Just call me later sometime... thank you for the offer."
Now she HAD to be going- they were getting too far ahead and she didn't want anything happening to them! She released Emily and walked after them at a brisk pace, deciding to wait until she was out of sight before running after them. "I look forward to the next time, Emily! Good bye!"

Emily nodded agreeably - sleep was good, and she finally grinned again, watching Canopus go before hugging herself. A friend - here! - and obviously magic, but... Not inclined to rip her heart out. Right now, friendship meant more than she wanted to admit, and Emily hugged herself as she began walking home herself. She'd contact Canopus soon. Buuuuut she needed a mirror to talk into when nobody was home, first, and she giggled, thinking of her vanity. Yes. That would do nicely.
