"I never promised you forever." He said softly regarding her with regret.
"I know; you never promised me anything that permanent. What I chose to do with my time is my business. I never asked you to love me back, though I loved you just the same." She smiled with the bitter sweet memories that flooded her now. He looked similar to the man she once knew but their time apart had changed them both. He was more mature from the heartbreak he suffered under the hands of other callous women. She, well, she too had suffered heartbreak but only from one man. She turned the ring on her finger as her thoughts changed to the man she was with now. She loved them both admittedly, but she was devote in her vows of love to the man she married; even though he could be...less than the man she knew he could be. Hope and fear were her constant companions in this union. Hope that he would be faithful, fear that he'd revert back to his old ways.
But, she glanced at this man before her now, her first love. And her heart jumped a happy beat. Though they could not be together the love she felt for him still beat within her along side the love she felt for her husband. It was a beautiful ache she would cherish this love she had for these men.

Suspended in the darkness amongst the specks of light each burning with variant levels of intensity she beheld herself surrounded by these holy comrades and yet, too far apart from one another to speak and ease the loneliness that had begun to seep within her being. This was fate of her sentence, alone within her thoughts and regrets until such a time came that her being could be considered pure once more. Eyes closing to shut out the truth of her situation she allowed her thoughts to drift and perchance to dream. Dreaming was a foreign concept to the angels as anything that they could desire would be met, humans would dream for their lives were more strife-filled and dreams allowed them to escape and glimpse heaven, or hell. But here amongst the vast empty space that cradled her in solo abnegation her hand drifted to her side and the pulsing stain beneath her guardian's armaments. Held at bay by the power of the Apega she could not help but wonder what its purpose was.

Side by side they viewed the field awash in amber sunset, all at once familiar and yet this time it held something new.
"I've come to realize that we'll always be connected, but our fate is to never be together. For whenever you're born human, I remain the angel to watch over you." She said as a bittersweet smile touched her lips. He knew her heart was breaking as the scene before them warmed gently, a push of wind spurred him to take her hand in his.
"Yes, but its my turn to watch over you." His words wrapped around her bringing her a peace she hadn't felt in eons. Gazing up at him she tightened her grip in his and felt tears begin to spill down her cheeks.
"Does it have to be like this? Can't we just stay here? Creation has always been and so has destruction, our being here couldn't change that could it?" She whispered almost pleadingly.
Leaning in he kissed her as the darkness of night began to swallow the field.

The forest spiraled downwards as the creatures of this wonderous place pranced and skittered about their lives. It was a place of eternal spring, and yet seasonally fall. I felt tossed about in this place, diving beneath the roots of towering trees as my spirit was summoned to the center of this place. Stag leapt beside me; tossing leaves onto a warm wind that drove all things towards a rushing river where beheld the most awesome sight I have ever known then or since. A worldly tree graced the center of this place; skirted by the blue rushes of the river, its massive canopy was enough to block the sun but in its gracefulness gave way to beautiful dapples of light that illuminated the most spectacular array of stars nestled in its branches. The once rigid trunk split down the center as though struck by lightning opened wide to create a mandala and throne for the fiery Goddess seated within. She came into my sight was the river rushed me forward and passed her. A giantess of celestial proportions she held her gaze steady over the realm before her even as autumnal flames danced around her combining with her loose tresses. Her right eye was covered with a strange blue oculus that rotated with gold flashes of celestial bodies and their orbital positions in the astrological houses. Her left emerald eye held the horizon stoically giving an autoreactive look to her fair features. Her right hand held a golden scepter around the crown spun numerous rings that held alchemical symbols within view of the blue oculus. As my soul was spurred forth to pass this holy vision her gaze shifted to me before dropping to the open book of white leather she now lifted in her left hand. Slowly as I was hurried by I heard her voice though her lips did not move. "The answers you seek cannot be revealed at this time."
Confused I was abruptly tossed from her presence though I could still see her in the distance my world had begun to darken. My stag companion knelt by my side presenting a parting gift from the Goddess; a magnificent cross with fleur de Lis branches adorned with a deep blue stone in its center, green stones sprouting around it in the carnal directions before being capped by the whitest alabaster all haloed in gold. I was to wear this cross until the answers could be made known; that was the impression this trinket gave. But would I be ready when they did? My doubts pushed my soul into the darkness where the cross began to illuminate in a comforting light. This was my path, I must have faith to walk it.
