Survey Mission 4D Location: Isla de las Munecas Images:: x, x, x. General debriefing: A team of dedicated individuals looking to write a magazine article about the island visited the area two weeks ago. Despite search and rescue attempts, none of them have made it back alive. They have noticed however, odd dolls shaped like the team hanging from the tree branches... * C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 4D. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a INSANITY ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics. 1- 20: The island is extremely foggy, the ground uneven and moist. You take a few steps in the soft soil until you hear a sudden crunch. You just stepped on the glass eye of a doll. 21 - 40: You notice that the dolls look to be in varying conditions, some with maggots curling out of them while others still look oddly new and untouched. All of the new ones are missing their eyes. 41 - 60: You notice a cabin deeper on the island. Inside is a small den, a few rooms, and a statue of a wolf head, creepily enough. The trap door in the center will not open but you can hear a music coming from underneath... 61 - 80: The wind begins to pick up, as the dolls begin to stir and move, as if with a life of their own. All seems okay until - you see a new addition to the lineup of dolls. Is that a doll of YOU? It is also missing its eyes. 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - As you continue walking down you hear a large crack, followed by another. A strange gas explodes from underneath, making you extremely dizzy, as you cough to figure out what is going on, fighting for air now. You have exposed your entire team to a hallucinogen, making everything more terrifying than ever as your vision swims and hops uncontrollably and your hearing becomes muted. Something creaks, groans, lurches underneath you, but is that your imagination? - BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a mob that has collective 100 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. AS you can't really see the boss, most of it will have to be dependent on what you can see, if anything at all, from strange faceless figures lurching, half-hopping towards you to the smiling dead coming back and swiping at you. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back. * 4 mission reward points for completing this successfully The text had gone out at 7:30 the evening before. beejoux Text to Peyton Creedy: Assemble with team at lighthouse portal at 0800. pinchmonster Text to Theodore Ross: Assemble with team at lighthouse portal at 0800 prolixity Text to Noah Andersen: Assemble with team at lighthouse portal at 0800 cheekiebirdiee Text to Cain Roy: Assemble with team at lighthouse portal at 0800

Peyton had arrived at 7:30 to collect the mission details and go over the names of the assembled team. Two she knew, one was unfamiliar. She frowned down at the page, thoughtfully, as she waited for the others, lower lip caught between her teeth.
Her usual cut offs and tank top were peeking around her jacket. She'd added her hip bag, bandages, torch, and phone tucked inside, along with a few spare runes. Instead of the long braid, ombré hair was bundled up into twin buns at the back of her head.

Anything - ******** anything - was better than sleeping. He wasn't on his best game, and maybe he would feel better after hashing s**t out with Stormy. Tuck almost felt relieved when he got the text for a mission. Anything to keep his mind occupied was more than welcome.
He arrived at the portal at 0745, early enough to read up on mission details.
When he caught sight of Peyton he half-smiled.
"Hey, Peyton. Been a while. How you doin'?"

The thought of an actual mission was sending a few thrill chills up his spine as he closed in on the portal's location. The excitement however kept far from his face, as it was set in a stern half bored look. Violet eyes ran over the back of another male upon approach then promptly flickered towards the female present. Perfect, they were strangers which saved him the bullshit that came with acquaintances and they sure as s**t weren't Dakota, that in itself made this mission grand. Blue highlighted, raven locks were pushed behind a tan ear as he came to a stop.
It was 7:48 and time to play polite.
"Hello." First goal complete, he met the team or most of it, the life trainees eyes went to the file the female held. A twitch of lip and his head craned to the side slightly, curiosity evident.

The others had gotten to the lighthouse before he had. Noah broke into a jog; as soon as he got within hearing range, he called out, "Sorry, I had to get some stuff, am I late?" He had a bag slung over one shoulder, and he checked the buckle to make sure it was secure as he skidded to a stop. He knew Peyton, of course, and normally he would have greeted her with a kiss, but this was duty time and he would save that for later. "Hi," he said to the two other guys present, a little sheepishly. "I'm Noah."

Pale eyes snapped up at the familiar voice, and she flashed Tuck a grin, happy to see him after so long. "Hey, I'm good, got myself all promoted and what not. How are you doing?" Oblivious to the drama that had filled his life since they'd all returned from the mission with the infected. Another body approached, a Life trainee, but not her Life trainee. "Hi. You're Cain, right?" A hand was extended, smile in place. "I'm Peyton. Sun Hunter. I guess I'm in charge of this little trip." People that didn't know her tended to underestimate her. She was short, petite, delicate looking, and very friendly, none of which gave off much of an impression of power, but looks were deceiving. His flicked down to the file, but she wanted to wait for Noah before going over the mission specs. Thankfully they didn't have to wait long. The Lifer came jogging up to them, apologizing. A glance up at the clock on the wall showed he still had a few minutes to burn before actually being late. "Nope, you're right on time. I was just about to go over the mission." In lieu of their usual greeting she flashed him a fond smile, then turned her attention to the three of them as a whole. "We're going to Isla de las Munecas, otherwise known as Doll Island." The name was explanation enough, she thought. Besides, they'd all see for themselves soon enough. "A couple of weeks ago a group of writes went there to put together an article for a magazines went missing. The police have no leads, but Deus suspects something supernatural is at play here. They found dolls on the island that resemble the team of writers, so I would say it's a fair bet Deus is right." She'd been looking down at the mission file as she spoke, but she looked up now. "I think it's safe to assume we'll run into something freaky. So let's try to keep it together, ya?" She glanced towards Tuck. "If anything happens to me, leadership defers to Tuck." The file was lowered, held out vaguely so if anyone else wanted to take a look they were more than welcome to it. "We ready?"

"Been better. Congratulations on your promo," Tuck took his time glancing over the file before handing it off to whoever happened to grab it first. He nodded at each member of the party that joined up. "Ready," Tuck nodded, falling silent as he waited for Peyton to move things forward.

"That's right." Cain met the extended hand of the woman for a brief shake. She didn't fit the bill of a leader to him, but he had been here long enough to not judge by the cover. If she could handle it, then whatever, all that mattered to him was that they got their job done. Plus he knew enough to know Sun hunters were suppose to be strong.
As another male approached Cain gave him a blank look, noting though the name and symbol on jacket. A forced smile and the teen was turning back to Peyton, a glance to Tuck as the mission was gone over. It was painfully obvious now who was the stronger of the group, but honestly it felt good to know he wasn't the only low guy on the totem pole.
On a nod he took the file as it was held out, a glance over it quickly and then he handed it off either back to Peyton or off to another that wanted it. Everything seemed well went over, nothing was in the file that wasn't in the summary so he was pleased. "Ready," Cain stretched slightly a hand moving down to brush against the pen on his belt.

"Dolls, okay," Noah murmured, and took the file from Cain when he was done with it, taking a brief look over the contents before handing it back to Peyton. The information was very basic, which meant either that there wasn't anything further to summarize or they didn't know if there was anything further, which would make sense for a mission. Laz made a burbling, huffing sound of impatience. Oh! Right. "Ready," Noah said.

Peyton took the file after everyone had finished with it, giving it a last glance, before handing it to the tech. He took it, the. Fired up the portal. "Alright guys, lets move out." She stepped through first, and upon seeing the island itself, let out a low whistle. "This place is ******** creepy." ((Go ahead and roll guys! But if anyone gets the boss lets skip I and save it for later?))

Tuck was the second one through the portal, weapon at the ready. He would defer to Peyton as their leader, of course, but he let out a low, "Be careful," in warning as he stepped further away from the portal. He only made it a few steps before something crunched underfoot. Moving away, he realized it was a doll's glass eyeball. "Make sure you call out at the first sign of danger, yeah?"

Waiting until the portal was free he flashed a brief smirk to Noah before entering the portal behind Tuck. Stepping out the island, of what he could see, was taken in. The whistle from the woman was right, this place was ******** creepy.
A step further from the group and he crouched, examining the dolls that were closest to them. Each doll seemed to be in different condition strangely enough the newer ones had no eyes. Why? "Theses...look newer." The comment was made more to himself before a curl of nose at the sight of maggots on one doll had him standing. "That's just nasty.." Cain made a face, much like a child who had just ate sour candy would, booted foot nudging one of the doll's legs.

The island was wreathed in fog, Noah noted as he moved through the portal behind the others. "Got it," he agreed to Tuck's instructions, and walked carefully toward one of the trees, one with several dolls hanging from it. "Do these look like they're supposed to be hunters to you guys?" he asked, leaning forward a little to peer at one of the newer dolls. "This one doesn't have eyes," he observed, and fumbled a pencil out of his bag to prod cautiously at the doll. It swayed on its string, but there was no other response of any kind, even when he poked the point of the pencil at the empty eye socket. He moved to the next one, this one dirtier and older, eyes set in place in its head, and prodded it with the pencil. Several maggots came loose from the doll's clothing and dropped to the ground, where they rapidly squirmed and burrowed out of sight. Noah moved his shoe back to be sure none of them got on him. "It's got maggots in it," he reported. "I can't tell if they're in the clothes or inside. They must be feeding on something, maybe the fabric or maybe there's, like, garbage or something rotten stuffed into the doll. I wonder if they have a Fear signature," he muttered to himself, and dug through his bag to get out a small specimen jar. He uncapped it, held it under the doll, and prodded the thing again; three maggots fell into the jar, and Noah quickly screwed the top back on tightly and tucked it into an outside pocket of the bag. "Got some," he said happily. Quote: 21 - 40: You notice that the dolls look to be in varying conditions, some with maggots curling out of them while others still look oddly new and untouched. (Skipping boss battle for now, with permission from Liz) Eyeless dolls filled with maggots. Peyton paused as a sudden sense of disgusted horror spread out from her core. "If the theory is the missing people become the dolls, and the dolls are being consumed by maggots, what does that tell you?" Nothing good. The Sun cringed, eyeing the dolls warily, before turning and moving slowly along the path. "Keep close." The still air they had met when they'd arrived was starting to pick up. It sent dolls knocking together, and the sound was everywhere, unnerving as ********, and really ******** distracting. It set Pey on edge, and she slowed her pace to compensate for being sound blind. If anything was following them now, they wouldn't have heard it. Then she spotted something that made her stop abruptly. A doll, hanging among the others, with a little white coat, dark skin, and blonde hair that faded into pink towards the bottom. "Noah?" Her skin ran cold as she stared at it, and there was a distinct sense of foreboding that came with the innocent little doll hanging by it's string. She'd wait til the Life answered, then hold up a hand to point wordlessly at the thing. Maybe she wasn't seeing things clear. Maybe she was projecting. Maybe when Noah looked at the thing he'd see something completely different. Quote: 61 - 80: The wind begins to pick up, as the dolls begin to stir and move, as if with a life of their own. All seems okay until - you see a new addition to the lineup of dolls. Is that a doll of YOU? It is also missing its eyes.
