School was a drag, even for someone as into his major as Glitnir was. He hadn't gone out patrolling for a while (and part of that was because he'd taken some free time off for some chill time with his buddies); having to balance assignments and work study and patrolling ended up with him choosing the paths that were less likely to result in him getting mauled or beat up (that is, studying and working as opposed to patrolling). He finally had a little time to slip out and go for a "walk," and thankfully tonight had been uneventful. No youma, no weird Negaverse officers to bother him. It was actually kind of nice.

As he was about halfway headed back to his dorm for the night, he became aware of a Squire aura in the area. He really needed to work on finding the sources of auras (or just about anything of that nature) better, because he still had no idea where it was coming from. "Who's there?" he called out. It worked for the last Squire he had bumped into. Hopefully this time, if he had to jump onto a roof to find the mystery Squire, he'd make a more graceful landing.

Megiddo wasn't sneaking. No, she was not doing anything quite so undignified as that. She was just walking, okay? On a roof. Covered in blood. Not her blood, of course! Someone else's blood. Well, okay, a little bit her blood. Her nose had bled for a bit. But seriously, you should see the other guy!

Because he was dead. In an alley. The coroner would have a super hard time identifying him with all of his teeth smashed out! Megiddo was, like, really pleased with herself! And she totally sensed the little baby page before he called out to her. In fact, she'd been on an intercept course on purpose! Totally!

It wasn't like she was totally sure she would scare the bejeesus out of someone if they saw her like this! (Except for Penthesilea, who would probably find it really hot, and Megrez, who would also probably find it really hot.)

"Uh, hi," she called back, and hopped off the roof. That was always good for a dramatic entrance, at least. "Megiddo Squire of Saturn," she said, waggling her fingers at the page. Ooh, a Mars knight! She'd met a few of those. Cool dudes, Mars knights. Mars, though... Mars was hot and dusty and not very nice to people dressed up for Saturn's cooler weather.

"Don't mind the blood, okay?" she suggested. "Like ninety percent of it isn't mine."

When the Squire landed, Glitnir did a very visible double-take. "The hell?" That was a lot of red and it sure as hell didn't look like make up. "Uh. Sorry. Glitnir, Page of Mars. Nice to meet you, Megiddo." His gaze just kept going from red splotch to red splotch to red splotch. "If you don't mind me asking, what did you do?" Oh, he had an idea of what the answer was going to be, for sure. It was a tossup between insane ritual that involved bathing in someone or something's blood and just the perfectly mundane killing of a dude in a spectacularly messy way. He wasn't entirely sure what to think of either conclusion. If Megiddo had in fact killed someone, how could she be so cavalier about it? Glitnir was aware there was a war going on, a war where people changed sides and beat the crap out of each other, but meeting someone who had actually killed fit in a place in his mental picture of the situation that was not adequately prepared for anything.

Megiddo frowned. Did he mean to say... did he mean to say that it wasn't obvious?! Remind her to never assume that any and all pages weren't horrifically green ever again. "Uh," she said, a little bit dumbfounded. "I fought a dude?"

Well, killed a dude, but babies had to walk before they could run, and she had a feeling that this baby was going to totally wig out at her. "So, I found this Negaverser in an alley draining energy off a teenaged girl, and that never sits right with me?" she explained, trying to get the page onboard with her logic. "Like, why have they always got to be creepy neckbeard guys and why have they always got to go after girls who wouldn't give 'em the time of day if they had all their wits about them? It's Freudian, I swear to god. Anyway."

She gestured to her sternum with a bit of a flourish. "That does not sit well with me at all? So I told the guy to step off and he was all make me, you little b***h, so he and my pitcher had a conversation--"

She held up her pitcher. The base was liberally splattered in blood.

"--And now, he is taking a long dirt nap to consider his sins."

Did she make herself clear? She sure thought she did. Megiddo smiled pleasantly at the page. "Any questions?" she asked.

It wasn't that it wasn't obvious what had happened, only that some confirmation and explanation was in order. Glitnir gave a thoughtful "Hmm" and stroked his chin. "No questions per se, but..." But something. He really had no idea how he was going to react to this woman. He didn't exactly approve, but yet he didn't find himself exactly wanting to condemn her either. "To be honest, you've put me in a weird place here. I get why you did what you did. You saved someone, and that's good, but I'm not really inclined to say 'hooray, clap clap clap for you, you killed someone.' But I don't really feel like telling you you're going straight to hell, either?" Glitnir swore that Megiddo's weird questioning-but-not-questioning-at-all intonations were contagious. "This is a very, very grey situation. I'm sure your reasoning holds up through one lens just as it doesn't hold up under another. I guess what I'm saying is that my response is not to respond yet."

Fair and balanced. Pretty fitting for the guy with the scale, wouldn't you say? Glitnir thought to himself, feeling a bit pleased with the arbitration.

Megiddo pursed her lips. She had learned well from Gunn that even people who they disagreed with were, usually, deserving of respect, so long as they didn't work to undermine the goals of people actually serving the cause. "That's fair," she said, after a long moment of considering his decision not to act yet. "But, like, you can fight bad guys by moonlight without actually killing them?"

Glitnir, she decided, was green as new grass, and he needed someone more experienced and wiser to tell him what to do. "I mean, personally, I prefer to make sure that when they go down, they stay down, 'cuz it keeps them from coming back later. But if you save the civilian, then all you've really gotta do is send 'em running scared and hope they don't hold a grudge."

"But," she added, "They probably will. That's why I like my way of handling things. It's efficient. But hey, I'm not here to talk to you about our lord and savior a tightly clenched fist. Were you heading somewhere? Am I holding you up?"

She stepped aside, bowing with arms outstretched. "Age before beauty," intoned Megiddo, with faux bashfulness.

Glitnir nodded. "Of course. That's what I've been doing. Then again, the lieutenants I've encountered so far have been kind of... weird. One was a girl around my little sister's age that was way too eager to try and beat me up in the interest of telling people she did her job, and the other was this guy who didn't care at all. It's hard for me to fight people who aren't actively dangerous."

"A tightly clenched fist, huh... you know, you can slap with an open palm as much as you can hold something in it. You can hold something in a fist, too, I guess, so the metaphor kind of falls apart... eh. Well." Glitnir took a few uncertain steps towards his initial destination. "I was just headed home for the night. Age before beauty, huh? You're funny. Really. Guess I'll see you around sometime? Maybe I'll send you a ring-note sometime. It might not hurt for us to patrol together." He held up his hand with the signet ring, waggling his fingers, then started walking off. He had some food for thought, that was for sure. Maybe it would benefit him to look at all the perspectives on the war, and so he would continue to seek out other Knights.
