Paws had never been more excited in her life. It had been her first trip to the arcade and it couldn't have been going better. The bright lights cutting through the darkness in a large array of colors was dazzling. Her hooves had been filled with tokens to try out as many games as she could. She had done pretty well at the games she had tried and had collected plenty of tickets. But, what was really the crowning jewel of the excursion was that the famous pro gamer phony Frag Doll was there. It hadn't taken the filly long to spot the alicorn in all her beauty, but it seemed the mare was on her way out and she hadn't gotten an autograph yet!
And so the mission began to follow the professional gamer until she could get a signature from her. Unfortunately, the tailing went on until Frag stepped into a stable. The foal stood outside, staring at the home in awe. Was this where Frag lived? She could only imagine the glorious gaming consoles that were inside. The mare probably even had all the old classics!
It didn't take much courage on the filly's part to bounce up to the door and knock on it ecstatically with a hoof.

Frag had just dumped her saddle bag and pulled off her scarf when there was a knock at her door. The alicorn sighed heavily and trundled over to the door, throwing it open. "Whatever it is your selling I'm not.." she blinked, looking slightly down. "Aw sh..." the little filly stood at her hooves, her eyes glistening and as big as saucers. A fan no doubt, and one that had followed her home. Yech. "Uhm...hello there kid." Frag wasn't sure of the protocol for addressing a fan who'd followed her home. She was sure there were laws against that and the though grumpily passed through her mind to just slam the door and call the cops. Instead she stood there a bit awkwardly, unsure what to say. "Can I help you...?"

When that door opened Paws swore she could hear angels singing as the alicorn practically lit up the entire place. The filly stared in awe, bouncing around on the stoop in excitement, her mouth slightly agape.
"Miss Frag Doll! You're so amazing! I saw you at the arcade and i wanted to get your autograph but you left before i could!" She squealed, poking her head in right past the house's owner. "Oh my god! You have a PH4! Oh! Oh!" She squeezed past, forcing her way in so she could go examine how her idol lived. "Is this a UFOware computer? Those things are supposed to be amazing!"

Doll's brain was short circuiting a bit. Some parts were yelling about a filly near her very expensive gaming tech, others were cussing both the filly for having the audacity to just come in uninvited and while cussing herself for just letting her do so. Some very choice words were attempting to filter their way into her mouth but Frag clenched her jaw and took a deep breath. "Look here you little..don't...touch anything...that's all very expensive equipment for work!" The mare finally managed to say. "And who's raising you that you just come in without a invitation.." she grumbled more to herself. "I'm very flattered you're a fan," she said, hooking one of her legs under the filly's tummy and scooting her back to the front door, "But I haven't got time for visitors right now ok?" Doll reached around to a side table by the door, pulling a head shot and a sharpie out of the drawer. "But since you're so enthusiastic, I'll give you a autograph." And then you better leave, she thought to herself. "Who should I sign it too?"

Paws Button's excitement was very rapidly dropping as she was being scooted out. With a pout she looked up at the alicorn, eyes watering ever so slightly. "I'm not going to break anything. I know how delicate consoles are." She even managed a whimper as she stared up at the adult. The little filly was rapidly growing disappointed with meeting her idol, who just seemed to think she was a clumsy annoyance. She was serious! About video games and most importantly cosplaying the characters from them!
Her eyes left the adult to glance around the room. "You don't look like you're busy..." She dropped her gaze to the floor, tail giving an idle swish. "I'm Paws Button. I want to become a great gamer like you."

It took a lot of effort for Doll to not give a dismissive snort. Sure people wanted to be a lot of things. In Hell people wanted ice water, it didn't mean it was gonna happen. "Pause Button right..?" Well named, as thats exactly what she wanted to do on this conversation. "Well I'm sure if you game hard and focus on your best roles you might be good enough to challenge me one day." she said without her usual BS smile and cheerfulness that usually came with the delivery of that line.

The little white filly nodded as the alicorn said her name. "Yep, that's right! Paws Button!" Her tail wagged as she tilted her head to the side, trying to look past the adult into the stable again. She wanted to go back in, to get to know her idol and to look around at what life was like for someone like Frag Doll.
"One day..." The earth phony pursed her lips, peering up at the mare and her voluminous locks. "How about right now since i'm already here?! Maybe i'll be good enough already!" She practically screeched with glee.

If Frag Doll had eyebrows, they might have nearly shot off with surprise. If nothing else, this filly had bravado. A tiny smirk creeped onto her lips. "Well someone like myself can hardly turn any sort of challenge down now can I?" she said, relenting to Paws and opening the door to her home. "Fine, fine, come on in then. How about Street Kombat V Super Edition?" One of her teammates was a pro at that game and had taught Frag a lot. A shiny, new PH4 controller was thrust into Paws's hooves by magic. "That controller is worth more to me when you are to your parents kid.." she warned, settling on her couch while magic booted up the PH4 and slipped the disc in.

At those words Paws nearly exploded with excitement. "Really? Really?!" She leapt about as she headed back into the house, practically singing with joy. "Oh man! I'm gonna tell everyone all about this!" She squealed, crawling onto the couch and snuggling into a pillow.
As the controller was amazingly floated to her she stared with wonder. This was such an honor, she could just die! She better not mess it up, she had to look good. It was time to play her best or die trying!
Looking at the controller eagerly, she was surprised by how highly the object in her hands was valued by the alicorn. "Oh. I'll be careful with it! Don't worry!" She giggled, waiting for the game to start.

"Hmph." was Doll's only reply as she flopped onto the couch, tucking her legs under herself. On the large TV screen, menus flashed by as the alicorn chose the settings; two player, best out of 3, 60 second timer. When they got to character select, she picked the Usa-P, a bunny girl fighter and started flicking through button settings for different attacks. "Just pick whoever.." she said as she changed her personal settings. With luck she could pummel the other quickly and the filly would leave satisfied that she'd played a game with her idol and her publicist wouldn't yell at her later.

Paws scrolled through the characters, not entirely sure who she should pick. Given she was going against a pro it would probably be best to pick a more counter based character as they were more the defensive type. But, she couldn't just get through the matches by hiding, it'd just give her idol more time to pick her up. She pursed her lips, settling on a character named Midway, a short and chubby man with little hair. He was a rushdown type character, despite his appearance. He dealt out strong attacks and it made sense to just try and hit the buttons faster than her opponent given the situation. If she could hit fast enough it wouldn't matter that Frag was better strategically.
She cleared her throat, as the countdown for the match started. "So, is she your favorite character?"

"Not particularly, I'm just good at this one. I prefer more agile ones, but I haven't mastered the super swift ones." Frag noticed that Paws had picked a good counter character. Well she had some knowledge of gaming at least. But picking someone who could counter Usa was enough, they'd also have to play it well. She clicked start. "Ready when you are then kid, best out of 3. Good luck." Game face on, it was go time.

The game counted down and Paws was leaning forward eagerly in her seat. Her hooves lightly touched the buttons in anticipation as she looked over the map they were placed in. There was only one object to jump off of in the entire scene, which wasn't necessarily a good thing. The filly grit her teeth, backing away from the adult's character so she could prepare to counter any attacks.
Occasionally the girl glanced briefly over towards the alicorn's controller, hoping for a clue as to what types of moves the mare preferred.

"Watching me will cost you.." Frag taunted before her hooves moved in a quick succession. In the time it took Paws to look back at the screen, Usa had closed the gap between herself and Midway, and had performed a power upper cut, knocking Midway into the air, 1/3rd of her health bar already gone. Usa was already in the air and at the quick sound of buttons and joystick, she slammed Midway in the midsection, hurtling the fighter into the ground. Midway's health bar was flashing red, only a sliver of life left. "Learn to think on your own feet. Study your opponent's moves out of the game, not during." the alicorn said. She wrenched the joystick down and she slammed two buttons. Usa threw her elbow out and pile drived into Midway. The fighter made a guttural groan. "K.O." The screen flashed. Frag released the breath she'd been holding slowly and her body relaxed a little. She seemed pleased with herself. cursedandwandering There, a quick round won. That should up Paws's awe factor AND get her fired up

Paws was flushed with embarrassment, she really should have been paying attention to what she was doing rather than gawking at her idol. Still, she was in awe at just how quickly Frag had defeated her. The filly had only been looking at her for a second and in that split moment she was already done for.
The white earth pony took a deep breath. She needed to redeem herself, but how? She stared down at the controller as the game counted down to start. She knew what she needed to do. Her hooves began to tap out the pattern, the one she needed to show she at least knew something about games.
Up. Up. Down. Down. Left. Right...
Midway's ultimate move began to charge up as the cheat code was entered in. The keys quietly clicking before the young foal unleashed her character's ability. Midway unleashed a barrage of punches onto Usa, devastating her health bar.
