Banyan ran to the edge of the forest and looked at the grass that stretched ahead, and even further than the grass was a large expanse of blue. It looked so vast compared to his view of the ocean from home. It seemed to stretch on forever. Banyan looked around to make sure that first of all his siblings had not followed him, and second, that there was no danger in the open. When he was sure that he was alone, he stepped out of the woods and ran full tilt towards the ocean. His little hooves carried him across the grass swiftly, but as soon as he hit the sand he landed face first into the sand. He had not been expecting the change of consistency that the beach had compared to grass. He tried to get to his feet, but ended up flopping over and getting sand all over himself. His forked tail waved wildly about as he tried to re-gain his balance on the cursed soft ground. Finally he seemed to reach a point of stabilization and he refused to move. He was afraid that someone had seen his embarrassing fall, but was glad to see that there was no one in sight.

Threnah was looking towards the ocean when she heard a noise not to far from her location. When she saw that the noise was a little foal she smiled a bit at the colt. "It seems your not used to the sand yet. Have you ever been in mud? It is a similar experience, but not too difficult to get used to." She said trying to be rather kind to the smaller Soquili. "Here, why don't I help you walk on the sand?" She asked ignoring some of his Kalona traits.

Banyan looked around, startled by the seemingly sudden sound of another near by. He almost lost his balance again, but a quick flick from his tail kept him upright. I bit aways he could now make out a mare, she had a similar coat color as the sand. It was no wonder he had missed her at first, but at the same time he knew that if his mother saw him make such a simple mistake then he would be punished. He looked the mare up and down. She was nothing flashy, rather plane, although she did have a nice marking on her side. Her mane was a vibrant pink, what an unfortunate color, he thought it would be rather useless if she was to ever try and stalk something or hide. His over all first impression of the mare was that she was most likely not worth his time, but he knew he had to be nice. He knew that sometimes looks could be deceiving and it was always better to be safe than sorry.
Banyan shook out his mane a bit, then looked at her and flashed a goofy smile. "I fell, was not expecting the ground to be so soft." He figured that this mare would best respond to a more innocent foal nature, so that is the nature he assumed. "I have walked in mud before! Your right lady! it is kind of the same." he tried to take a few steps, but let his hoofs slide around a bit more than necessary. "Oh im still sinking! Can you help me? i want to see the water!"

"Where is your family little one?" Threnah asked after a moment of thought. There was no way that such a foal should be alone especially if they were trying to head to the beach by themselves. "I can help you get to the water, but I don't want to have angry parents chasing me." She laughed as she moved closer to the colt and leaned slightly when Banayn started to have trouble again. "Oh, Im Threnah, so you don't have to call me lady." She said softly a smile on her muzzle. "I take it this is your first time going on sand. The sand near the water is going to be a bit more difficult."

What she said made sense. Just like it was harder to stand in a river bed, it could be harder to stand in the ocean. Either this mare was speaking from intelligence or from experience. Either way he gave her some credit for warning him. The less he looked like a fool the better. He let her help him balance occasionally was they started to walk to the oceans edge.
"My family is..." Banyan paused for a brief moment contemplating his words. He silently cured himself for not having a story already in place in the case that someone tried to take him home. "My parents are just over there," he motioned with a swish of his tail At the tree line out of sight. "I wanted to go to the water and they are watching over my siblings so they said i could go." A thought crossed Banyans mind. He wondered if this Threnah thought that his family was Kalona. This was something that he could use in his favor if he needed a quick get away or if he no longer wanted this mare to hang around.

"Do you think I would try to take you little one? I would only take a young one like you with me if you had no family to speak of, I don't kidnap foals." She laughed at the thought of a stallion she had taken care of that was bigger then she was. "While I am sure your parents are around, I have a feeling they are not near the trees you pointed to. Perhaps when you are done playing in the water I can walk you back home to your parents. While you are certainly a brave little colt, your still young and it is dangerous to walk alone." When she looked the foal over, she had a feeling that the foal did have Kalona blood in his veins, but she had the feeling that it was a bit removed, he didn't have more then the tail of the Kalona breed afterall. Though that didn't mean he wasn't a child of a kalona halfbreed.

Banyan pouted at the thought of being marched back to his parents like some child. Even though he still was but a foal he did not like the image that played in his head of what would happen when a stranger dropped him off home. "I was lieing, I bet they are far away from here. Oh but im not abandoned or anything, I just saw the ocean and wanted to see it closer and when i got closer i wanted to touch it." He nodded and then smiled at her. "Im glad you are nice lady because my parents would hunt you if you took me and id hate to see a nice lady like you get hurt. Now will you take me to the water?" He tried to make it seem like his parents were these big bad Kalona, but did not want to scare her off. It was true that his parents would hunt her though. They may not be the strongest of breeds, but there was no better hunter out there than his mother. Not to mention anyone being followed by his mom would never know she was there. Banyan almost felt a bit home sick. But, that was ridiculous. He had only been gone for a day, no need to worry yet.

Threnah looked at the colt next to her and shook her head at the silly thing. "I will take you to the water, but I still don't think you should be out here alone, even if you threaten others with having Kalona parents, some would think taking a foal your age would be worth the risk." Still, it seemed that the colt wanted to see the water and she was going to help him, though she would keep an eye out for anyone else that might follow them. If worse came to worse and someone thought to attack she would protect the smaller soquili.

Banyan flashed her a silly grin. "oh, my parents are not Kalona, they are both Cerynei, you know, deer folk. They say that I got traits from further down the line though." He was about to say more, but stopped as they got to the waters edge. He had not realized that the shore line would be so violent. At the same time though, it was calming. His mouth fell open and he stared at the waves that crashed and churned and struggled to make it to the shore, only to be pulled away again by the next wave. It seemed like a sad struggle because each wave tried to make it to the shore but was stopped by the next wave as it too tried. It was a never ending struggle and for a brief moment, Banyan felt sorry for the ocean.
"Wait, so the ocean is like a lake but much bigger, so are there things living in the ocean? are there soquili in the ocean? wait! how does anything breath?"

"I didn't think they were little one, most Kalona I am aware of have sharp teeth and wings, you don't have either. The only trace I can see would be the tail you have." She watched as Banyan looked at the water and she smiled. "The ocean is much bigger and yes there are others living in it. Creatures like mers, and seathi and kelpis, there are so many different breeds under water just as there are above. As for how they breath, I would say they have plants that provide oxygen don't you see some of the green in the water just a ways off? Its like grass for us, though Im sure some breath air as we do and need to surface, others probably don't."

For the first time in his young life, Banyan was at a loss for words. He looked out to the ocean for a moment, thinking of all the creatures that lived under there. Whole lives were being lived right at his feet. "They live in there eh." Banyan ran into the water and splashed in the receding waves. As he splashed around her yelled at the water, "Hello there water creatures! hello there water plants!" For a moment, he was lost in complete foal joy and wonder. It was one of the few times in his life that he felt like his own age.

Threnah watched the young colt splash in the water and she smiled at him unsure of what could be more wonderful then a foal enjoying the wonders of life. She had never been able to meet her own foals but thought they would have similar experiences. After a bit of watching the colt Threnah decided to join in and splashed around in the water just as Banyan did. She laughed a bit and frolicked just like a foal splashing Banyan once or twice.

Banyan let her splash around with him for a bit, but he could not help but grimace inside a bit. It was one thing for him to splash around, after all, he was a foal and could get away with a lot of things. She was an adult though. It just seemed rather childish of her. He knew he should not be so harsh on her, but his parents are so calm and quiet. He never really sees anything else. Banyan shoved his feelings down and continued to splash around.
He kicked up some water at her in a playing manner, but accidentally got some sand too. The wad of wet mud went hurdling her way. "oh no!" the gothic beauty 2 this is so embarrassing, sorry im so late on this tag D:
