"In and out and around..in and out and around.." the words bubbled and edged from the little creature's mouth as she tucked and turned, moving her head back and forth, the thick rubbery strand of seaweed that was clamped in her teeth making the words a tad incomprehensible, but understood her chant enough to keep track of where she was.
She had woken this morning with a marvellous idea of making a large, scooping net out of seaweed so that when she went farming the wonderful stuff, she could stash it in that, rather than having to drape it around herself. It took longer to transport that way, and she was always losing the fronds, they would slip off as she was swimming.
So she was curled in the shallows of the bay, the surface not a great distance from her head, her tail hooked on some heavy, sunken debris so that the tide wouldn't move her as she worked. Every so often Limetta would pause, look up and scan the area and then went back to her work. She was making the harness that she would wear first; the fleshy bubbles on the strand having been smashed flat between rock and hooves (which she would have to do with virtually every length of seaweed she worked with otherwise the net would float far too much) and she was weaving and knotting the strands into what she hoped would be something workable.
She paused again, this time letting go of the strand she had been working, wiggling her jaw and giving it a rest for a short time. As she did so she looked towards the inlet that led inshore, squinting as she did so, for she was sure she'd seen a flash of movement..

He was heading out towards the bay, swimming calmly and quickly. He wasn't worried about anything at the moment, as he'd seen no signs of trouble. Okeanos was safe, so for the moment, he felt that he had not a care in the world. He planned to go gathering seaweeds, and then bring some back upstream, to home. He had a nice spot in his cave-den that he'd found that was... JUST above the water, so he could hide seaweed there and it didn't get flooded. At least not during normal water levels. He could reach it just fine too. However, he'd run out, so a'gathering he'd go!
He had no idea he was heading right in the direction of another's work, so he just kept going... until he saw the other, just in time to NOT hit her, or what she was working on. "OOOP!" He pulled up hard, and banged into a rock, rather then her. "Oooof! Sorry there, didn't expect to see anyone along this direction!" He gasped out, as he'd almost knocked the breath out of himself. He clamped his tail around a small rock, to hold himself in place until he caught his breath. Ooof that was not a comfortable way to meet people, he decided.

She too did not see him until it was too late, as he seemed to have barrelling along at quite the speed. Limetta had shut her eyes tight, wincing and curling into ball and it was only when he spoke that she uncurled and looked around.
"..." the mare let out a long breath, bubbles drifting to the surface as she did so. That had been close, but it seemed he could brake as fast as he swam. She checked the seaweed rope that she'd been working on, it had been moved a bit by his sudden stop, but seemed to have settled with no visible signs of damage.
"That was close." she said, looking at the stallion. "Are you okay?"
She could have launched into mini-rant about how he should watch his speed and where he was going when travelling in the shadows, but neither she nor her work had been harmed so it was all good. Limetta really wasn't that sort of Seathi anyway, it took a great deal to make her angry.

He took a few slow, deep breaths and then nodded. "I am truly sorry, madame. I travel this path fairly often, to gather seaweeds to feed myself and my son, and have never encountered anyone along it... So I felt safe in going so fast. I need to remember, for the future, that everything changes, and once we get into these slightly murkier waters where the fresh waters from the rivers and the salt of the open waters blend, visibility is lowered." He gave a low bow, to accompany his apologetic words. "If there is anything I can do, to make up for this gaffe, madame, please let me know. My name is Kaimana, and I will answer to your need."
He then straightened again, and peers, very curiously, at what the mare was up to. She was... weaving seaweed? He looked at it, and then his eyes got that 'OH!' look. "What a clever idea! I wonder if letting it hang above the water level for a bit, to let it dry out some, would help. The knots might tighten or something." He paused, then added "I mean, when I've had dried seaweed, it can get a bit tough, depending on the type..." He paused, then realized he probably sounded idiotic. After all, without more explanation, what reason did she have to even think he'd ever SEEN, let alone tried, dried seaweed? And really, would she want to listen to such long winded nonsense as him explaining? He blushed, embarrassed all over again.

"Yes, well at least you've learned from your little mistake." Limetta said with a nod, her mane gently drifting around her face as she did so.
"And you don't owe me anything, you've apologised and that would be all I would expect from such an incident, she smiled taking a note of his name and giving her own in return.
"I'm Limetta, I am pleased to meet you despite the slightly unusual manner of meeting." she tilted her head as he proffered what he thought was advice, though she had little time for the world above, that place where the water held no sway, she did know alot about seaweed.
"Some seaweed becomes brittle when dried. And it would take a while to draw, the seaweed could be lost in windy weather or taken by another. Thank you for the suggestion but I have my own way of treating it and it has served me well so far." she gave him another smile though to show that she didn't mind the unsolicited advice.
"Are you on a food trip today then?" she asked, remembering what he had said moments before about what usually took him this way.

"True enough." He blushed a little, and then sighed softly, still feeling an idiot, and tossed his head some to distract himself.
"Nonetheless, I'd feel rude to not offer help you, Miss Limetta." He tilted his head and listened to her speaking about the seaweeds, and he looks curious. "I did not know that... I've only really noticed the stuff I try to store for later eating. It makes things easier to keep extra on hand..."
"And oh yes... When I adopted the child, I truly had no idea how much food small ones need to keep them healthy and growing. I rarely seem to gather enough to last more then 5 days, maybe a week at most." He sighed wistfully. "I love Oke, but some days I just feel so tired. That said, he's a wonderful child, so I don't begrudge any of my time with him."

"And I appreciate it, but like I said, I would expect nothing more than an apology, which you have already given. You owe me nothing further." Limetta reiterated, hoping he would be assured that she didn't think badly of him.
She nodded; "I can only speak for the seaweed varieties that I've been using, generally it's far more flexible and stronger when soaked with water."
She listened as he spoke and gave little nods whilst he did so. "Your mate and you have not had children of your own then?" she asked, making what was a bit of an assumption that he had adopted the child with his mate.
