Maggie's primarily a "find it, throw it on, and go" girl who leaves her clothes scattered along her bed and bunched up in the closet. She has a thing for greens, blues, and orange, but doesn't like brown or hot pink. Plaid is the best thing ever, but only if it's green, red, or blue. She prefers jeans or skorts, and may borrow her father's favorite pajamas occasionally. (They're plaid and fluffy. ouo)
She isn't terribly fussy over how her hair looks and affixes it in buns, poofy pigtails, or one big poofy pony tail if it's a really hot day, but isn't shy to let it all down in all it's fluffy, orange glory. In truth, she's very proud of her hair because of it's color and adores it's texture. It's soft, poofy, and at times annoying to comb, but it's fun to play with!
Maggie doesn't believe in wearing make up or jewelry, unless it's a family heirloom or something equally symbolic. Why would she want to cover up or adorn herself? She's fine the way she is, no need for anything shiny to dangle off of her neck, wrists, or ears. However, if someone else wears those things and offers to let her try some of it on, she won't deny herself the curiosity. Just as long as the mascara washes off as easy as the dirt on her feet, it couldn't hurt to try it out.
Personality:
Mags takes after her father in more ways than one. She's warm, friendly, and would gladly give you a helping hand should you need one, even if you're covered in mud or carrying more than her weight in furniture. She has a "can-do, will do" attitude and doesn't take no very easily, espescially if she's absolutely sure she can do something herself. It's common for Maggie to argue with adults over this and no matter how many times she does, she never seems to learn from it. She likes to be the leader in group settings, but not so that she can have control over how things are done, but rather to ensure that everyone is safe and happy while together. She's stubborn in this and will argue with another child if they try to boss other kids around. She doesn't deal with rudeness very well, despite she herself being sarcastic, and will outright refuse to speak to someone who's being deliberately rude to her.
History:
Maggie was born into a very large family that has an equally lengthy history of powerful psychics and mediums. While each member has their own unique way of expressing their abilities and may even have their own individual area of expertise, every Buchanan is capable of Scrying, Precognition, or Intuition from a young age. This singular "selective" ability seems to be passed on from parent to child much like the red of their hair, and can be traced back to a single ancestor who was the first to acquire it. Each child, once their selective ability has made it's first appearance, is given a party in their honor which features dancing, trying to communicate with ancestors, and drinking, lots and lots of drinking.
Maggie's first experience with Scrying happened when she was eight when she was sent to time out for yelling at her younger brother and decided to try meditating like her father had showed her. Her subconscious was warm and filled with light, as she would later boast at her party, and she wanted nothing more than to expand her time spent there. This was a huge problem, according to her mother, as Maggie would neglect chores and schoolwork in favor of meditating and practicing with her father. It was long until her parents began to argue and a rift between them reared it's ugly head. Maggie's father believed it was far more important for Maggie to learn her powers, Maggie's mother argued that her daughter would never amount to anything if she didn't start raising her grades in school. Soon enough, they were divorced and a custody battle for Maggie and her younger brother began. It would take months of battling from both sides until, much to Maggie's relief, a verdict could be reached. Maggie and her brother were told that they would be visiting their mother for a week every month and living with their father the rest of the time due to their mother's financial troubles. Though the divorce had been a rough one, Maggie came out of it with a brave face that was eager to learn more about her abilities than ever before.
However, not all was as well as she had hoped. The divorce had taken a toll on her father and caused strained ties within the family itself. Visits from family members for parties became shorter and colder, as if it were simply being done for the sake of tradition rather than family time, and eventually, Maggie's father stopped wanting to see his family at all. Maggie's ability to connect with her subconscious then started to get more and more difficult and time consuming for her to accomplish, which gave her father quite a shock. It seemed without her extended family to surround her, Maggie's Scrying ability had been weakened, and would only continue to get weaker unless she could find a way to reconnect with them. But, because of the effects left by the divorce, that didn't seem at all possible.
Distraught with fear and guilt, Maggie's father researched for psychic groups who could help his daughter, and stumbled upon an advertisement for Murmuring Pines Psychic Summer Camp. That summer, Maggie was on her way to meet other children like herself, and hopefully, closer to getting her treasured family ability back to what it used to be.
