Skjalg was... acting that way again. More violent, head strong, and irritable. Him and every other Diabi in the clan always acted like this when the moon turned a red amber and the magic in the world twisted and changed slightly. Her clan knew how to deal with it; keep a wary eye out, act very calm and peaceful around then, let them go hunting to ease off on the violent urges, and generally just avoid them. Rather hard to do that when you happen to be seeing one of them, Skorga thought wryly to herself. Skjalg was normally very sweet, gentle, and thought things through… but when the Blood Moon hit, he tended to snap and get very aggressive. Which was one reason she was currently hiding in a huge over grown tree’s roots. Aggressive and very spontaneous cuddling was fine, nuzzling was too… but not biting. She thought crossly to herself. She knew it was the effect of the Blood moon and didn’t blame him… much. But that didn’t stop her from hiding or thinking of ways to distract him from getting to aggressive.

Maybe a nice dragon hunt will do it, she thought. Never thought I’d be the one who’d suggest it… but from what I’ve heard others say, having the Diabi’s fight gets rid of a lot of the aggression the moon causes. But that also makes him frisky, she thought crossly to herself, and I am in no mood to play. She spotted a Rivakka, young by the size of it, leave the stream that flowed nearby. Her stomach gave a soft gurgle, reminding her it had been a while since she’d eaten last. She summoned up two vines near it, twinning them about the large amphibious lizard’s body to hold it in place while she left her hiding spot. She quickly slunk towards the growling and struggling creature, keeping an eye out for others of its kind. It was young looking and that meant it may not have left the nest yet and a parent could be nearby. She stomped down on its head to keep it still and keep those spines from poking her while she bit its neck. That done, she grabbed it and dragged it back to her root hidey hole to eat.

“Not very sporting.” She heard Skjalg’s voice growl from above. She cast a wary eye up at him, amused to see him curled about in the tree like she normally perched. His size made it easy to pick him out… and made the branches bend under his weight. His voice should have been amused and teasing, but with the changes it sounded more like he had pent up issues waiting to explode.

“I’m lazy… and I’d rather eat now than after a long chase.” She said as she sat down at the base of the tree, not hiding just yet.
Skjalg just rumbled wordlessly as he shifted about in the tree, causing the changing autumn leaves to fall. Skorga sensed he was wanting to say something so she waited... and started in on her meal.

“Sorry…” He growled softly. Skorga looked up, a bit surprised by this. “I know I’ve been… difficult to deal with since the Blood Moon rose.”

“It isn’t your fault…”

“It is! I should be better at controlling it!” He snapped back before growling again, visibly calming himself down. “Was never this bad when I was younger… My parents tell me that’s because I’ve come into my power and just need time to get used to the Blood Moon’s effect… That because I’ve got all my power, now I am feeling its effects more.”
Skorga had wondered about that, he’d never been this bad before! Skjalg shook himself and jumped out of the tree to land near her, showering her and her meal in dying leaves. She chuckled and shook them off as he stalked around her.

I should be better than this! I don’t bite people! Especially not you… But… all this power! It’s just… like the air is so filled with power, I’m almost drunk on it... Sounds make me irritable, people make me want to lash out, use this power, break everything. I want things... badly…. And it’s almost like I should just use this power, get everything I want…” His tail was lashing, voice rising as he stalked back and forth. Skorga gave a soft croon and walked over to him, leaving behind a mostly eaten rivakka.

“Shh… It’s fine Skjalg.” No it wasn’t... she did not like being bitten. “The way you describe it… If I had that much power you bet I’d be using it! All the plants I could grow… people I could trip up or toss into trees for being so insulting and irritating… You don’t... you manage to keep yourself attacking only creatures… mostly.”

He gave a soft rumble and finally stopped pacing. “But I bit you….”

“Just don’t do it again.” She growled before pumping her head against his. “Let’s go hunt a dragon down…. Since you’ve got all this extra power, go work it off.”

Skjalg laughed. “You? Weren’t you the one who dislikes direct fights? The one who hisses and squeaks when something attacks her and then runs off and hides?”

“Hey!”

“It’s true. You squeak.”

“Do not!”

He wrapped himself around her, tail twinning about her hind quarters, “Do too.” His voice dropped an alcove as he rubbed his snout along her neck.

“Fine, you win. I squeak. But no cuddling, you bit me last time.”
Jalg gave a frustrated growl but backed off.
“I said let’s go hunt… Otherwise I’m going to go hide away from all you frustrated, power mad Diabi….”

“Alright alright… are we that bad?”

“Those our age yeah… most of the elders are just fine as are the younger ones. Though even then! I can’t pull any pranks... you get too feisty and lash out! Can’t sneak around, they pounce at me like I’m prey. Have to be calm and polite… Ugh!” She lashed her tail and flounced off. “Stupid Blood Moon. It looks pretty but the problems!”
Skjalg smirked and followed Skorga as she vented her complaints. With his senses heightened and filled with the dark power of the Blood Moon, he felt the pack of Ysali dragons before Skorga did. Quickly he stepped in front of her and gave a soft hiss to silence her. He gave a feral grin, as he pinpointed their location. Skorga sighed inwardly; she hated it when Skjalg gave that grin, it meant he was going to charge off.

At least let us scout it out.” She whispered softly. “No need to go in blind.”

“There’s four of them.” He hissed back.

“I know… but it’s still smart to at least take a quick peek.”

He inhaled and then nodded. She gave him a quick nuzzle; “Thanks.” She hated hated HATED going in blind. Always scout it out, that way you know which way to flee should things go wrong, where to strike from, how many you were facing. Skjalg normally agreed, but with the Blood Moon making him blood thirsty….
She slunk off into the undergrowth, letting Skjalg take to the skies while she scouted out the area. A small glade, really very nice with lots of old willows hanging over an overgrown pond. A large mushroom the size of a tree grew out of the far side of the pond, it must have been brought here from the forests to the west. Skorga thought with delight; she’d heard of the mushroom forest of Endeldarth that grew near the Oblivionite main city, but she’d never seen one before. A dragon was perched on it and one below. Two others were exploring the roots of an old evergreen that overshadowed the mushroom and frilled the area with a thick bed of soft needles. She saw Skjalg start his attack: the shadows beneath the mushroom writhed and formed thick spikes, impaling the sleeping dragon as he came roaring out of the skies. She turned her attention to the two near the evergreen: those roots were old, but strong… I bet I can hold them still with those! Answering her call the deep thick roots ripped from the ground to ensnare the two that were just turning to face Skjalg and the dragon he was brawling with. Tightening the roots, she squeezed the life out of them; keeping hidden in the dark growths of vines and bushes that grew in abundance around here.

After making sure the dragons died, such a nice thing that they disintegrated, she looked up at Skjalg who seem to be enjoying ripping into his dragon.

I’ll just… leave him to that, she thought as she investigated the roots of the old pine. She took a deep breath, enjoying the sweet scent of its sap. The roots had opened to reaveal a lovely hollow… large enough for her and Skjalg to both fit inside. The sight of it reminded her that her parent’s lair was becoming too confining. She was an adult now, it was time to find her own home… why not I just make it? This is a nice place, she thought as she rearranged the roots to form a more natural looking shape with an opening large enough for a Khehora to enter through.
The sound of bone snapping echoed briefly in the glade. She turned to see a happy Skjalg picking up his orbs before swaggering towards her.
“Feeling better?” She asked with an amused smile.

“Much.”
