baby_gwing Nellie is such a sweetie.
Melvin had been bored. It was already boring enough when he had been in the Infirmary with nothing to do, but now he was being restrained to his bed. It meant he couldn't even check Twitter or work on lists and personal notes for when he got out. Instead, all he could do was lay there, sleep, and think.
Even thinking was exhausting. He had questions that needed answering, places to conduct research on Clarice and doors, and he felt a restlessness that he was running out of time to do all of it. Instead, he was stuck in bed unable to move and was only released to go to the bathroom or eat (while supervised of course – and only with spoons as his utensil).
Laying there, he was surprised to hear a knock at his door. No one else really knew him enough to bother seeing him, and Rep had already made his visit – which caused this mess he was in now.
Not even able to sit up, he turned to the door and saw Nellie, the new hunter he sparred with before. He completely forgot he had talked to her on Twitter before Rep showed up.
"Uh…Yeah. Hi. Um…sorry I can't…I'm…" He couldn't even say what now. He was restrained to a bed with a wrapped arm. "I can't sit up. Some..stuff happened." He looked back up at the ceiling, flushed with embarrassment.

baby_gwing I fear he'll treat her like a little sister.
Melvin wasn't even sure Nellie would be successful, but just asking someone on the front desk couldn't hurt. When it took a little longer than a minute, he wondered what the girl was up to, and then longer than that and he worried she might have been escorted out of the Infirmary for requesting someone who appeared suicidal and who fired his weapon in the Infirmary should be released of his restraints.
However, in a moment, Nellie returned with a click of the Infirmary door and a rather resigned looking tech walked in with her. Darryl looked both annoyed but hopeless in that he hadn't been able to shake off the woman.
Moving over, he undid the soft restraints and looked down at Melvin. "Don't send her next time." He said, and Melvin wondered if he detected a bit of a flushed face. "And don't do anything else in here or else you're getting knocked out." With that, he left with a jingle of a pair of keys and closed the door.
Sitting up, Melvin rubbed his wrists and looked up at her. "Thanks. I ...didn't expect you to hunt someone down like that, but I appreciate it. that really helped a lot."
He adjusted the blanket over him a bit more and propped his pillows in order to sit up more comfortably. "Thanks for coming. It gets a bit boring in here and.....not to many people come." Except Rep, and that didn't' go over too well.

Reaching into the bag, Nellie retrieved a cookie then handed it to Melvin. "Melvin's welcome. If there's anything else that Melvin needs at all, please let Nellie know." She was about to reach into the bag again to grab a cookie for herself when she stopped at the sight of the IV on Melvin's arm. She didn't know anything about human anatomy beyond the skin, blood and bones, and that only served to make her worry even more about what worse could happen in the Life hunter's case. "Nothing's broken or permanently damaged inside right?"
Glancing briefly at Melvin's face for confirmation that he was indeed fine and that her worrying had all been for naught, she lowered her gaze to the cuff once more at his explanation as to what it was supposed to do. "How long? Can Melvin still talk to Saliva or does this totally block Saliva off?" She shook her head quickly at his next words, visibly upset now as she closed the remaining distance between them to close her hands around his upper arms. "That's not true at all. Melvin and Saliva were way way better than Nellie and Niffy. It was already obvious from that spar so Melvin shouldn't think like that..."
She tightened her grip slightly, falling silent for a bit before finally releasing it and slowly withdrawing her hands. "... Nellie will want to know the truth behind why Melvin's friend chose to lie to Melvin then. If it was a good enough reason, it may be difficult to not feel angry or hurt initially but Nellie will try to focus more on the why because that will make the friend one worth keeping." She smiled wryly.
"Besides, it's not like Nellie has many friends to begin with in the first place so everyone counts."

"Saliva is always pissed, but that's because she doesn't consider me her ideal hunter. There is no way around it. I'm being punished and she has to put up with it." He could hear Saliva grumbling and saying a few things he assumed were obscenities. He didn't speak Saliva's native tongue to understand, but the tone was understandable enough along with the general feeling.
"If there were a way to treat out weapons, I might consider it. Maybe give her a golem day?" He said, looking up to see if this would ease Saliva a bit.
It didn't.
Sighing, he looked back at Nellie. "I'll be fine on my own. Everyone else has their own troubles to deal with." He didn't have that many friends, but he didn't want to alarm Nellie any more than she was. Jordan was still figuring out things between him, Rep, and Harrison, and he didn't know everyone else well enough to bleed his heart out in front of them. Not sober at least.
"Don't take everything on Twitter to heart. People say whatever they want without caring because they aren't saying it face to face. People get bored and then they turn into assholes. You're fine as you are. You're a caring person and I don't want other people changing that for you." If it wasn't the people on Twitter, it would be their Leads yelling at Nellie.
" You'll have to be able to put up with a lot of verbal abuse here, I'm afraid. Just keep a stiff upper life and brush it off, okay?"
"Peyton is a good person. Stick with her if you can."
