He'd wanted his two friends to meet for quite some time now, but with the mission and trips and other various happenings, Arorangi hadn't quite found the moment to do so. But it seemed like perhaps things were settling down for a short while, which was why he thought it was fortuitous to take advantage of the quiet and see about having some fun with some good people.
Arorangi sent out the texts early one afternoon:endejester Text to Zac:Kia ora brother! Feel up to playing some cards with a friend and me? Grey Dragon Text to Oliver:Kia ora little bird! Feel up to playing some cards with a friend and me?

kuroopu Text to Arorangi - Kia Ora! - Sure I'm good with that! Where are we meeting? Looking forward to it! He responded fairly quickly and with a grin. So far the island was, over all, better than he had, on some level, feared it would be to utterly start over.

Oliver needed to find out how to change text message notifications. It seemed like he now had friends who would message him unexpectedly for various reasons, and he couldn't be hopping up to fetch coffee every single time. He smiled and typed in a quick reply. kuroopu Text to Arorangi:I can, but you might have to teach me if it's a new game. Are we going to be playing with Lydia?

Oliver spent about half his allotted ten minutes trying to figure out how to reply. Knowing how friendly Arorangi was, this other person could be ANYONE. The young Life trainee was already fretting. kuroopu Text to Arorangi:A new friend? He wanted to add "Are you sure they would like me?" but deleted it before the sentence was typed, and just hit the Send button without any further deliberation.

endejester Text to Zac:Oh yes!! I am glad to hear that! biggrin grey dragon Text to Oliver:Just come over little bird and you will see!! When the others arrived, they would find Arorangi's door open, propped by a shoe. His room was relatively bright, with some beautiful photographs of beaches and the sprawling green grasses of New Zealand pasted onto the wall. Several leis were draped over the corner of the bed and the mirror's edge, and the bed was covered with a cheerful orange and blue blanket. A black pennant was taped just above the desk, the words New Zealand All Blacks imprinted in white on it.
Arorangi himself was wearing a bright yellow shirt, khaki shorts, and his dreadlocked hair was pulled back into a ponytail at the back of his head. He was holding a deck of cards in one hand and a can of soda in other.

Zac was carrying a box of fish shaped crackers (cheep tasty salty), he looked admiringly at Aro’s decorations, realizing a few things he perhaps should have gotten for his own room. There would be other chances to go out though he figured, and worst case he could ask someone to swap him goods for a tattoo. His own shirt was a faded charcoal grey with a tribal shark decorating the front of it, comfortable jeans with a tear in one knee that gave a hint how far down some of his tattoos went less by design than long wear. “Kia Ora!” He called in greeting, while it’d been said over the phone it just felt right to say it when they saw each other face to face. He shook the box of crackers, which looked like an enormous milk carton. “Trade you for a pop?” He grinned. He’d drink water just as happily to be fair though.

There was something especially nerve-wracking about meeting the friend of a friend. Oliver had gotten himself worked up over whether he would get along with Arorangi's friend, and by the time he arrived to peek inside his hands were shaking. It was hard to tell though, he had them shoved into the pockets of his coat. With both it and his scarf on, it looked more like he was gearing up for a mission than visiting for a card game. " Um... Hi..." Oliver said in a meek, tiny voice, sufficiently cowed by the presence of not one, but two polynesians in the room.

"Zac!" Arorangi looked very pleased to see his Poly friend and set the soda down to walk over, reaching out to pull the other man into a firm embrace, giving him several slaps on the back in greeting. "I am glad to see you are doing well, mate!"
The crackers were given a grin, Arorangi reaching to grab a second soda from the desktop and tossing it Zac's way. "Help yourself, and I would love to try some of those crackers - and you must show me if you have gotten any more tattoos!" he added, just as another familiar face peeked into the room, looking relatively terrified.
"Oliver!" said Arorangi brightly, and reached out, clapping a hand on the other's shoulder and pulling him into the room. He stood beside the younger hunter and put both hands on his shoulder, grinning from behind.
"Zac, this is my friend Oliver!" said Arorangi happily. "Oliver, this is Zac! He is also from New Zealand, as you can see!"

Zac had started to offer his hand to shake to the newcomer, but carefully withdrew it slightly when he saw how nervous they seemed to be making him. “Hey mate, how you doin? I brought some crackers for us all to share eh?” He waved a hand towards the crackers and then remembered Aro’s other request, lifting his left arm and showing off a styalized manta ray that had been turned into part of a ‘band’ right below his elbow. “Yeah?” he said with a grin. Figured I should test my new gear, get used to it before I tried it on anyone else. Freaky as those runes are they bloody work.”

Oliver may have let out a tiny, pathetic squeak as he was pulled into the room. " P-pleased to meet you," he stammered, looking much smaller than he was with his head ducked slightly, and shoulders hunched. It was almost comical how scared stiff he was, just to be meeting a new person. The little trainee could feel his heart beating like he had just run a lap around the town. Continuing on with the conversation prior to Oliver's arrival was perhaps the best thing that could have happened, although he was still too nervous to say anything, his pale eyes showed a flicker of interest as the manta ray tattoo was shown off. The expression of interest began to reveal more of itself as Zac spoke, until it resembled something more like nervous wonder. Finally curiosity was enough to rival the anxiety. " Y-you d-did that?"

"Excellent," said Arorangi, patting both of Oliver's shoulders reassuringly before slipping out from behind him and making his way over to the desk, where he'd piled a bunch of what looked like snacks and drinks. "Help yourself to whatever you'd like, there's a lot."
Zac's new tattoo was given an appreciative whistle. "Looks amazing, mate," Arorangi said with a grin. "And Oliver, do not look so worried, as you can see, Zac is not nearly as outgoing as I am, so you do not have to worry about him picking you up like I did."
He winked in the other's direction, reaching for another soda and leaning back against his desk, folding one arm over his waist.
"It is very nice work, Zac, you did very well."

Zac nodded with a smile at Oliver “Yeah mate, I got a whole set up in my room now, I’ll do one for you if you ever want, sound good?” He “Imagine, something like this right over your shoulders say.” He rolled his own as though to demonstrate, or shrug. Perhaps it was a combination of both. “Thanks mate!” He added with a wide grin at Aro’s appreciation. “What kinda card game are we playing? Am I gonna have to learn something new or will this be a nice old stand by?” He smiled. “Are we playing for stakes?”

" Wow," the kid said in a tiny voice. His pale eyes were wide with honest amazement when he glanced up again. "Oh, I d-don't think I could ever, um... get something like that." The thought of having a tattoo was beyond belief, it would just seem silly on a weak and pathetic-looking kid such as himself. Arorangi's humoured interpretation drove the point home. It wasn't entirely unfounded, Oliver had been picked up by several of the older hunters by this point in his career. Picked up and tossed around like a bag of laundry. The Life trainee's eyes shifted in his friend's direction with a slow blush creeping across his freckled cheeks. " I-I'm not... afraid of that..." The teen migrated over to the desk where there was snack food just waiting to be eaten, but he was too shy to actually take anything.
