Wiseacre Wizarding Equipment Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment sells a large variety of objects for the needs of every wizard, from telescopes and cauldrons, to books and Hogwarts House apparel. You can find most everything you need here. The store is run by Benjamin Vincent who is usually very scarce unless needed, and he somehow always seems to know when that is. He is typical in his small room in the back with a book and a hot pot of tea or playing his violin. He sometimes comes out of his cave to recommend and item or even on occasion converse with a costumer, though he will usually send you up to Brew and Stews if that is what you are looking for. The store closes promptly a 5:30 every night so he has the night to himself.

✺I'm in the race but I've already won ✺And getting there can be half the fun ✺So don't stop me till I'm good and done, ✺Don't you try to rain on my perfect day
Maddie walked around the shop, stopping to look at various items as she browsed. Her eyes twinkled as she eyed a Wizard Chess set, one like she had practiced on as a student. Her blonde hair was perfectly coiffed, her dress perfectly fit for her slim figure, and her shoes boosted her height by five inches. She lifted a Remembrall, watching it as a pretty silver smoke filled the orb. Good. So she indeed hadn't forgotten the stovetop that morning. The girl walked around a bit more, heels clicking as she moved, searching for things that piqued her interest.

Daniel bounded down the stairs, into Wiseacre's leaving behind the loud noises of the hostel. He loved owning the hostel but it was these days when crowds seem to swarm in, that he just needed a break. He was just glad the bar wasn't open for several more hours, if he thought it was loud now, just wait until people got drunk. He finally got to the bottom of the long stairs and entered the store. "Hey Ben!" He called, glancing out the windows into Diagon Alley, "Do you have any..." He was suddenly cut off as he noticed a nicely dressed blonde girl looking around the store. He glanced at her awkwardly for a moment before smiling, as best he could. He wasn't use to Benjamin having any customers, especially girls, especially pretty girls. He was normally an extremely social butterfly but there was something about being alone in a room with a girl that made him all...awkward. "Oh...I'm sorry...is there something I could help you with..." He muttered locking eyes with the woman for a brief moment. Maybe he didn't know the store well but he could probably help, or maybe he just wanted to. Wow she was pretty. Oh how he wished Ben would show up and save him.

Maddie was looking at the small collection of books when she heard a sound behind her. It was a man close in age to her, one who appeared to work at the shop. He asked if she needed help with anything, then his gaze caught hers. The woman cracked a grin, her deep blue eyes sparkling. "Do I need any help? No, not really. I wanted to look around at all the things that caught my eye." She flipped her blonde locks over her shoulder, eyes catching his again. He wasn't too bad looking himself, but with her luck, he was married with eleven kids. It seemed everyone was shacking up in their teens, leaving no cuties for the older 20-somethings. It wasn't fair!

Daniel shifted around awkwardly, still looking intently at the woman. Like a creeper. If she'd been a customer in his hostel it would be different. He found it incredibly easy to start a conversation that way, he just had a weird mental block for one on ones. His brain just wanted him to keep talking to her but what exactly to say wasn't sure. He bit his lip and he tried searching for something...anything to say. He bit the edge of his tongue and words starting to come from his mouth. "So...do you like...books...?" He spoke, the words stumbling out of his mouth like a drunken man. He smacked himself mentally...do you like books? Who actually said that?! Oh man, oh man was he an idiot. "Um...I mean..." He stopped. He didn't know what he meant. He opened his mouth awkwardly but words refused to come. He snapped his mouth shut and furrowed his brow, scrunching his forehead awkwardly. He ended up just sitting there staring at her, eyeing her beautiful blonde hair. Why did she have to be so pretty? If she was some fat hag that would be different, though that just made him sound vain...He was pretty certain he'd die before he could get out of here.

Maddie tilted her head, blinking in confusion. Did she like books? Was he.... was he nervous about talking to her?! Oh Merlin! That was adorable! "I just so happen to love books. How about you?" Could the stars be shining upon her love life? This was the most exciting thing to happen in a while! "You mean what? Yes, yes I like books. I'm Madison, by the way, but most people call me Maddie." She laughed, smiling excitedly. Her hands slid down her hips, smoothing the fabric of her dress. She had several nervous tics, and that, of course, was one. Who else needed to constantly adjust their clothing?

Daniel watched as she laughed, like a song, and studied her hands the smoother her dress. "Yep. I love reading..." Though to be completely honest it wasn't quite true. He did enjoy but hardly had the time and would rather be having the adventure on his own than reading about it. "Um sorry. I'm just kind of tongue tied right now." He muttered, refusing to make eye contact with her. Oh man she was going to think he was like mentally slow or something. Where in the heck was Benjamin when you needed him?! When she spoke again he looked up at her with his big brown eyes. "You're lovely...I mean, it's lovely to meet you Maddie!" He practically shouted. "That's a beautiful name. I'm Daniel...and I swear I am not normally like this. I'm actually usually quite sane." He said with a nod. "I mean I guess I haven't murdered anyone yet so that's saying something." He hadn't murdered anyone? Yet? Great now he was a psychopath. He just smiled and hoped she wouldn't look into it as much as he was.

Maddie smiled when the man said he too loved reading. She tilted her head, a soft curl falling over her shoulder. He said he was tongue tied, so she decided to try and relax the poor bloke. "Did someone use Mimble Wimble on you, or are you always adorable?" She laughed at her own joke, thinking back to when she learned the tongue-tying curse. He wasn't making eye contact, but when he did, her blue eyes locked on his brown, studying the intense color. He called her lovely? Her?! Aww! He was practically screaming at her, but she didn't mind. He was good company. "Yet? Does that mean I shouldn't get my hopes up? Haha! Nice to meet you too, Daniel." She couldn't help but laugh at her own jokes. She was on fire today! Normally she couldn't talk without people awkwardly scooting away! What made today different...?

Daniel watched as her beautiful hair fell over her shoulder. He smiled when she spoke, "Nah. It's natural." He said with a shrug and an extremely awkward laugh. She'd really just used the word adorable. She said adorable, so adorably. "Well you never know when you might need to knock someone off. I like to leave my options open." He said, desperately hoping that also came off as adorable not...well serial killery. Having his luck she probably thought he'd just admitted to murder. Oh well, at least she said his name pretty. "So...what is your favorite...book?" He added, trying to keep the conversation going, and not wanting the woman to leave.

Maddie smiled at the man, happy that he was flirting so... adorably! She twirled her hair, a bit nervous, but still willing to carry on. The male said he liked to keep his schedule open, which made her smile widen. "So... you'd be free this afternoon for tea? I'll pay, if you want to go out.... Or, we can set the time for another day..." She blushed a bit, tugging on the curl around her finger. His words made him sound a bit... nervous, but she was ninety percent sure he wasn't an axe murderer. Hopefully. He asked about her favorite book, and she smiled. "Tales of Beedle the Bard. Specifically The Fountain of Fair Fortune. I've always loved that story. It made me think." She nodded, remembering reading the stories over and over until the book finally fell apart. Luckily, her dad got her a new one, or she'd have been seriously devastated.

Daniel smiled as she spoke. "Oh yes, Beedle the Bard. My mum use to read that to me and my brothers as bed time stories every night when we were little. It was her way of teaching us about magic." He said, thinking back to those days in the inn with both of his parents by his sad. It was hard to believe how much he missed them at times. As he continued to listen to the words she spoke Daniel's eyes widened. Was she...asking him out? She was beautiful and her hair reminded him of taffy...which of course sounded super creepy but it was the truth. He also really wanted some tea, her glanced up at met her gaze, quickly moving them. He was about to say yes until her heard the loud laughter of guests in the hostel above. He shifted his weight from one side to the other and thought. He was the only one working right now and definitely didn't think it was wise to leave his rowdy customers alone. "You know I have a even better idea, there is this marvelous hostel upstairs and the owner makes the best fish and chips in all of Diagon Alley." He said with a wink. So maybe that wasn't the most romantic of meals but he could do it well, "Or pancakes, I'm pretty good at those too." He said with a shrug, "As well as a lovely selection of teas." He said, smiling like a big goober when he looked at her. "You know, if you wanted." He said as an after thought, not taking his eyes off her.

Maddie smiled softly when Daniel began mentioning his mother, thinking that was a sweet memory. After she'd asked him to tea, he'd interjected a better idea. A hostel upstairs? He mentioned fish and chips, which always made a nice lunch, then he said that he made good pancakes... Wait... that would imply that he owner of the hostel above. A grin lit her face as she nodded, excited to prove her theory. "Are you informing me that you'd like to make lunch, Daniel? Because I hope you are. I'd love to sit and eat with you, though I'd feel bad if you had to cook. Maybe I could help out? We could make a deal, that way." She smiled wider, feeling particularly good inside, even as butterflies fluttered about in her belly.

Daniel laughed awkwardly as he looked at her. "Well if you'd be willing to let me, I'd most certainly love to." He smiled eyeing her, trying to keep his eyes focused on her for at least a moment. Daniel laughed a bit. "Really it's not a problem I could for dozens of people every morning and night, cook for one woman won't be all that difficult, though if you really do insist I wouldn't deny a little help." He just didn't want her to feel guilty, though not was never something he could understand about other people. If someone offered you something you take it and that is that. "If you want we can head upstairs, or if you want to finish shopping..." He said eyeing her, incredibly happy that this was happening, and that neither of his brothers had decided to show up since they seemed to always hang around the shops.
