With the heavy rain outside, Al had to find other ways to amuse himself. If that meant taking his tarp down temporarily to pretend he was actually working on the damage to his bedroom wall, so be it.
He pretended - rather convincingly - that he was taking measurements of the gaps. He completely ignored the fact that he needed to cut the area back to crisp lines first since you can't just board over rotted crumbly areas...
This is one of many reasons why he is not ever going to be a moon.

“Hey…” came a greeting voice. “Hey, you ah, need a hand their Mate?” He asked cautiously. Actually it was a wonderful opportunity to ask why the wall was missing in the first place. “You got someone to help you put that to rights or are you just gonna, make like a coffee shop or sammat, for people who’re dun at Rep’s.”

Al jumped at the sudden voice and nearly fumbled his tape measure, just barely keeping it on hand. He spun around in search of the source and seemed relieved it wasn't anyone who actually knew him. "Well, I um... have friends who planned to help re-built it. Just, our schedules never seem to match up." More like he'd gotten so used to it that he keeps forgetting to get it sorted. At least he and Rep were on the same page about fixing it.
"But a cafe sounds cool too." He peered at the man's face curiously before a smile curled across his lips. "I don't believe we've met?"

“Heh, naw I’m kind of new, bet we just haven’t crossed paths.” He held out a hand in an offer to shake. “Zac, I’m ah… running a bit of a tattoo parlor myself.” He admitted. “Not wholly set up yet but, best I can do right? Mind if I ask what happened to the wall?”

"Al," he took the mans hand and shook it.
"Tattoos huh? Do you have any examples?" It seemed his interest may have been genuinely piqued before it was dragged back to the task - or lack of one - at hand.
"I have no idea honestly. It was like this when I got here." He sat the tape measure down. An excuse not to actually do work now. "I just haven't had the time or skill to take care of it."

Zac hesitated then nodded slightly. “Yeah, but uh…what I’ve added to my own are a bit hard to show with long trousers.” He rubbed at the back of his neck with a sheepish grin. “When they get me back my new tattoo runs with their runes, I’ll be adding a bit, to make sure nothing happens like glowing in the dark, ah…just did a shoulder piece with Harland though, it’ll be a bit red and puffy though.” He said thoughtful. “Some on Rep but it’s a bit like my own. I dun know that he’d want to ah, flash the new tattoos at you.”

"Where exactly are these that trousers would be a probl....," he suddenly cut himself off and gave Zac a long slow blink-less accusing stare.

Zac nodded with a half suppressed grin. “Yeah…I think you just got where they go.” He chuckled. “I mean I don’t mind showin… but I’m not doing it in the hall eh?”

"I don't need to see examples that badly," he was suddenly rather red and shuffling uncomfortably to not even be facing Zac anymore. "Anywayyyy... how are you at building s**t?" Change of subject would be nice.

Zac laughed softly. “Sorry man, at least I didn’t drop trow in the hall right?” He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “Um… I’m not so hot with what you got going on here, but, I think you’re gonna have to make things a bit more even before you start cobbling back together. “

Yes, thank <********?" He decided to not actually comment aloud on the trousers thing at this point. Instead looking back at the mess at hand and placing a hand on a jagged edge that seemed to creek at his touch. "That's madness, why would I want to make the hole bigger??"

Al froze and looked at the edges he had been measuring. He looked thoughtful and then looked back at Jac. "Anyway, how long have you been awake for man?" He wasn't about to admit his mistake in logic.

“… Over a month by a bit?” He shrugged. “I’m, guessing you have a hell of a lot of lot of seniority on me?” He offered a small shrug. “Bet you have some…serious war stories.” He mused. “Sorry mate, if I knew more about anything that would let me help you rebuild I would, but um…” he shrugged slightly. “Yeah… It’d probably be …worse.”
