The human race has since the beginning of their time battled the world for survival. Related to same ancestors and dwarfs and elves but being outlived ten to one in comparison. Forced out of the main regions and sent packing by their cousins, the great march begun. They set out across the seas and fought the sea monsters as well as pirates. There was during this time, 700 years ago, that the lone survivor from the Dragon wing. Clung to the mast of the sunken ship, Christoffer the First was the first human to walk a beach for a decennial. The land he'd found was the home grand island of the dragons.
At first the birds in the sky never occurred to him that they where a bit big and not there a second ago. As he started to walk into the new land, he noticed. They circled him, he was the eye of their rotational move. Hours after walking, tired and dehydrated. The pale and tall man dipped his black hair into a stream. The broken and dirty rags licked his skinny bones as he sat in the cold creek. The forest was opening up towards a huge volcano like mountain. After drowning his thirst he sat up to look into the eyes of a dragon.
The First and Black Wing never knew the power a true connection but that second they bonded. Black wing shared his new found knowledge of the First to the others. This mark the first connection. It led to the major change of the dragon society. Christoffer was set to speak to the council black. All dragons followed the black dragons and they all formed a council. At the council the question was a difficult one with simple answers. To eat the man or bring the human race to their safe shores. The council was divided between Dark sky and Black Wing.
Since we all live now among dragons, it's safe to say who won in the bloody battle to follow. Black Wing was able to slay Dark Sky. The strength of youth was said but today we know that the connection brings out strength that is unmatched between equals. So The First on Black Wing when out and gathered the human fleet to land. The sight was one of terror for dragons to watch. Pale, weak and thin. Each one and no mattered which colour of the skin. A race sent to starve on the huge water, able to fish to stay alive but no more.
Draconia was built shortly after. Dragons and humans working together. Two after two connected here and there but most never found their partner. Years passed as the human lived in peace among the dragons. Kettle and other animals that did not live among dragons where collected. This brought on the first elven draco war. Anger and hate when the sails was first seen. Dragons who had memories from their human partners fueled this. Yet the First was a clever man. Flying out to meet the Elves at sea, he took the terms. It was to leave this land and return to the sea. The black council stood now to either kick out the humans or stand by them. Several black dragons had riders. The nine riders and the council of twelve all agreed. The dragons was not condemn the humans.
This story also tells of the saddest part of the connection. Telling the elves on dragon back to leave peacefully or face their death, The First was shot down as he spoke. Elven archers had always been deadly. The archer would regret his choice of attack. What Black Wing did in his rage the story does not tell but elven survivors has all written of the screams that Elf made before dying. The rest black riders burned or sunk most of the fleet. Black Wing flew the body of Christoffer home to his family. Yet clearly Black Wing grieved harder then the wife. Often dragon and human die of age together but a severed connection is the most brutal one. Black Wing gave the First a burial in dragon tradition.
Inside the mountain of birth, the one Christoffer thought was a volcano. The dragons lie down to die and to have their aches protect the unborn eggs. As Christoffer's son ran away as the body was burned by Black Wing, the son fell over an egg. Because of this the egg hatched and a new connection was made. A tiny black dragon and a young boy found each other. This was the only joy of the day. Words that a huge elven fleet had been spotted by dragon riders. Black Wing flew away the second he heard. The dragon in his grief sent himself into a suicidal rage. There can be nothing so furious as that. It served little good for one dragon blinded by his loss but the Elves got the wrong idea of dragons. Thinking to highly of their own intelligence and believing dragons where mere animals. The first Elven Draco war was over that evening. Many dragons died and many riders. Yet the entire elven fleet was set ablaze for fifty years there was peace for mankind. During these years teens was on location for the dragon births. Where eggs hatched and most connected. The eggs spoke to them, was the only answer. Today all riders know that as the truth.
So what does the story of how we came to be upon this land teach us? First, how come we are here and not among those we evolved amongst. Second, it teaches why you as teenagers have the egg scenario. Third, it warns you what the connection means. Both advantage and disadvantage. Well in dragons that is. Among humans it can be even sadder. Often said that there is no more joy, no more love and no more will. Because of this there is no one forced to enter the mountain of birth. Well, for you it's most likely the last time you're in my class. After tomorrow you have a dragon by your side. Oh and don't piss of the mother dragons. They will kill ya'll. With that, your teacher leaves the class room laughing. Leaving you all to your new adventure.
Basic Information The world is roughly around 900-1300 in our years. Yet with a few aspects of our world do to the Dragon Council effecting the development of human history.
All children goes to school form the year 7 and until 16 or chosen by an egg. Most people goes only once to the egg ceremony. Often does this at age 16 and combined with their graduation. Most people aren't chosen since there are so much more humans then dragons. Those chosen at a younger age often goes to special military academies to finish their education while they grow with their dragons.
Your own position in the army is not based upon your dragons race but your own skill. Dragons have a pecking order, true but even if a black dragon rules over other races. If a pink rider is a general, highest rank rule in combat. Dragons put their trust in humans.
Gunpowder weapons are limited to Dwarf craft and crude things Orcs have stolen from Dwarfs. Elves have some that they traded with the Dwarfs but no mankind.
Human types: To avoid making this complicated, there is two main branches of humans. Chosen and not chosen and it's if you find an egg to connect with or not. There are often more people then eggs ready to hatch and many eggs are hidden under the fine grain sand. This makes it hard to find an egg. Roughly 70% does not get chosen as no egg will call these to them. This results in many starts going for egg at a young age to be able to try more then once.
Of those not chosen life is as ordinary as life was during the medieval times. There are builders, fishermen, men at arms and so on.
For those chosen there is only two paths and none that is controlled by the human: Rider or Fighter. For most people the dragon are alive and kicking after the hatching. Which result in them joining the military as Dragon Riders. They will be fighting in the skies and on ground with their dragons.
Then there are those who become Dragon Fighters. These people are chosen but the dragon is still born. That gives the chosen the might the the dragon. The strength and powers of the dragon is fused with the spirit of the human. Creating super human being and some that can spar with dragons in some ways. No one knows the real reason but it is commonly accepted that the bond made is more of a chest within the human spirit then a bridge between both beings and their spirits
Weapons Fighter and Riders will all be trained in the military to become soldiers of the human nation Draconia. Yet in all nations there are those with various skills in various areas. Obviously every one will be taught the basics of the standard weapons of the military. This include the sword, the bow and the dagger. Then each and all is allowed the specialize depending on what your character is good at.
The following list is just to wake an idea within you and nothing that has to be followed at all.
General Dragons have four legs, a tail, a set of wings. Neck ant tail varies in length. Depending on type their size vary from a horse to a large dinosaur. All dragons breath fire, exept for the blue one. Yet some have a far more destructive breath. Red dragons are known for having a destructive flame for amazing distanzes.
Connection: As the egg hatch in a teens hand their eyes will meet and their spirits will bond to be one. In an instant they will know each others and their selves better. This bond provides quite a few boons. Mental connection: Able to talk to the the partner telepathically and see through their eyes. Physical: Strength, speed and agility increases naturally. It can dip the battle but left untrained it proves little. Senses: Smell, hearing and vision is all improved a notch.
The severed thread. There are those who looses their partner. This kill the spirit and thus removing the warm feeling inside. The effect varies depending on who the survivor is. Usually humans looses the will to act or care. To just wait out their days. There are those who drown them self in alcohol or become angry full time. Dragons are alike but most lie down and wait for death.
The life span is shortened when the spirit dies. So the torment does not linger on for a life time.
The dead egg Infants die, that is known and is no difference among dragons. In the rare occasion a fighter is called by en egg with a dead born dragon there is no connection yet to be severed. This results in taking over the dragons aspects. The fighter becomes superhuman in some aspects. They gain their dragons power and force. They take in the dragons spirit and take it all. For example if a green dragon is dead in the egg the fighter will have super human strength.
The player chooses if he wants his dragon to be still born or not.
Dragon races: Colour: Silver Skin: scales, 5cm thick at base and 3 dm radius. Power: Super heated breath, magical barrier. Speed almost matching the yellow one. Size: Three quarters of the size of a black Trivia: This is an extremely rare sort of dragon. Often does not connect with a rider. Only two riders has ever had a silver dragon
Colour: White Skin: scales, 5cm thick at base and 3 dm radius. Power: Stronger fire breath, healing Size: Same as silver Trivia: A rare dragon, often has some odd side of them.
Colour: Black Skin: scales, 10cm thick at base and 5 dm radius. Power: Stronger fire breath and strength Size: The biggest size among dragons. The height of a standing t-rex Trivia: This is the biggest dragon. A green dragon may physically be stronger but the difference in size is also a reason for their might. Very proud and wise most of them. Black dragons comes in many variations of personalities.
Colour: Red Skin: scales, 4 cm thick at base and 2 dm radius. Power: Stronger and longer fire breath Size: Half the size of a black dragon Trivia: Often considered the dragons with the highest tempers.
Colour: Green Skin: scales, 3 cm thick at base and 1 dm radius. Power: Strength Size: Same as red Trivia: In pure physical strength, there is none that beats a green dragon. Are often seen as honourable and brave.
Colour: Blue Skin: Scales, 1cm thick at base and 5 cm radius. Power: Steam breath Size: As en elephant Trivia: The blue dragons are often quite calm and relaxed
Colour: Yellow Skin: Scales along with feathers, 4mm thick at base and 2cm radius. Power: The yellow dragons are known for their speed Size: Between Pink and blue dragon Trivia: As speed goes they are unmatched. These are also the more competitive dragon and often daring.
Colour: Pink Scale: Feathery scales Power: It has a high scream for aid that is answered by all dragons. They can set up a protective magic dome barrier around them. Has a soothing, calming and comforting effect on people. Size: Smallest one, size of a horse. Trivia: An uncommon type of dragon. Can only fly with light loads. For example: A rider and a small backpack. Also known to purr.
Rolling for a dragon A D20 will be rolled with the system that exist on gaia. The number rolled will resolve which dragon you get when finding your egg. Follow the chart bellow to find out the race of your dragon.

The Silver dragon will be awarded by the GMs to a single player if someone is deemed worthy to wield it.

Diplomatic Information, Government and Maps
Human are currently in war with the Elven nation, Elava'tlan. They are allied with the dragons and their council. The Dwarven nation Drumblen and Human nation Draconia hasn't declared a truth but there haven't been an skirmishes for some time. The Orcs have so many tribes to call it an war but their raids are ever so frequent. These raids are against all nations.
Government The human race lives in their nation Draconia and they are ruled by their King and queen. They coexist in their ruling with the black council in areas where both races are effected. They have ruled mankind in 700 years since the first came upon the dragons and are descendants of that man.
Since the times are troubled with various battles, natural disasters and Orc raids, there is only one child of the royal family. The Crown princess at the age of 16 herself and it's her time to join in the egg ceremony and are for the first time on equal grounds of her subjects. Current Event
Players will all start in a big room, where they all wait to enter the soft sand to search for their eggs. People and dragons from all over Draconia is gathered in seats all up in the volcano like mountain peak. The echoes of their voice can be heard a distant humming, coming from behind those big gates. There are several of benches and a few soldiers around. There are still children entering the room.
