Hi guys smile ,

I might as well give a background into what my prayer is about. I had sprained my right ankle two years ago, and I was diagnosed with a grade two partial tear. I had a brace and completed physical therapy. That injury got better (which is a good praise report then). In August of this year, I fell down the stairs at church, and rolled my right ankle in the process. I knew at an instant it was a sprain, based on the symptoms I had from two years ago. I did not see a doctor then.

On September 5th, My right ankle rolled in the parking lot as I bent down to pick up my backpack from the ground. I ended up trying to focus on getting through class because I had a photography class to go to. After class, I had my folks drive me to an orthopedist due to the fact that I thought I would get seen faster (I was wrong smilies/icon_whee.gif ) . After two hours, a doctor saw me, examined my ankle and ordered an X ray. After I had X rays taken, I waited for the news my doctor would give me. He came back twenty minutes later and told me I had multiple ligament injuries in my ankle. Because of this, I had to get a new brace (because my old one was a size too small) and I had to see him in four weeks.

I see my orthopedist doctor for my follow up appointment October 3rd (This Friday) . I wanted to tell him that I have done everything I could to take care of my ankle. The reality is I have not been able to elevate my ankle a lot because I walk everywhere on campus. The only times I elevate my ankle are when I am home, when I am sleeping, and when I am sitting in class.

I apologize for this being a bit long, but I wanted to ask you who reads this if you will pray for my appointment to go well. I am a bit worried he may recommend surgery (Which I cannot afford at the moment) . I am hoping he will just give me more light exercises to do at home. I will just have to see.

Thank you so much. I do appreciate it and may God bless you all heart biggrin

UPDATE #1:

Hi guys smile I wanted to tell you a big hearty thank you for your prayers so far. I have been praying too smile . I saw my orthopedist Friday and I was busy all day yesterday and this morning, so I couldn't update right away. I'll summarize what the visit was like below :

Basically, my orthopedist is thinking I won't need surgery for my ankle. I told him my concern about the pain I developed in the back of my ankle and hell. He thinks it could be two things : 1. My brace is irritating it, or 2. Tendonitis. As for my sprains, he tells me they are getting a bit better. One of my sprains was a deltoid ligament sprain. He did not tell me what the others were. He wants me to do the stretches he showed me that day and he wants me to see him in three weeks on the 31st . He is trying not to send me to a physical therapist right now due to the cost.

I have went without the brace Friday morning through right now. I still have the brace off. I have been given a note to hand to my chaplain at school because once I told my orthopedist I had been running to chapel, he shook his head. The reason why I had been running was because I would finish work at 11 (I have workstudy) and at 11:10, the card scanners stop scanning your card. Hopefully with this note, I will have more time to walk to chapel without running on my ankle 3nodding .

I am on Fall break this week so I will not have to worry as much about being careful at school. I am hoping that the 31st is the last time I see him.

Thank you once again for your prayers smile . Another update will come up on the 31st biggrin . God bless you all heart

Very nice news and info about your ankle and the fact that you do not need any surgery to fix it!
Isn't God good!?!?
All the time; am I right or what...
To make this all even better is the fact that God still hears and answers our prayers to what His will is for us.
I am glad for you and for you to have good news about your ankle my friend.
I too have kept you in prayer and still will. I can't wait til the 31st to hear how it all is then. Please do keep us all informed and thank you maam for sharing this with us all here in the guild.
God bless!
Philip

Thank you very much smile . Yes God is definitely good all the time smile . I am grateful for everything he has blessed me with so far : A good family, good friends (both in real life and online smile ), a great church, a great school, and last but not least, a great orthopedist smile . In the meantime, I have made a promise to make sure I improve my physical health smile .

Hello again everyone smile ,

I apologize for the late update. Writing assignments for school are starting to take up most of my time these days. Today is the first day I have been on gaia for more than a few minutes smile . Anywho, here is the update smile :

I saw my orthopedist after photography class on Friday. He had a look at my ankle and asked me how the exercises were going. I told him that I have tried as much as I can to exercise my ankle. I also told him that I took his advice and decided to not wear the brace. I took the brace off that day and I have left it off ever since. I went on a family vacation for Fall break and managed to walk my ankle a bit on the beach. I did mention to him that my ankle is sensitive to the cold weather (It has started to get cold here in Tennessee. It's suppose to be 22 degrees tonight.) He told me that was normal and told me to keep it warm. I told him I would. He told me that he would like to see me again in a week just to be safe.
The good news is it looks like the brace was the culprit in causing the trouble I mentioned in my last update. It also looks like I may have my last visit with him next week smile

Thanks again for your prayers and God bless all of you smile . It's just getting better smile
