She rolled a fat joint and sat in her room, amongst the fine fabrics and muted lights, to blaze and burn away the image of green eyes and slathering mouths.
Sometimes the memory would rise in her dreams and then she’d feel that weight of her weapon compressing her and she'd wake gasping, alone. It was like the paranoia hadn’t left at all.
Snap was summoned, the twin whips laying coiled in her sheets exhibiting only the faintest blue-green glow in the darkened room. Cee stared at it, somehow the weight lessened if she could see the weapon. Sometimes she’d talk aloud to Snap, idle conversation that never got a response. It never helped but she did it anyway.
Cee’d spaced out, the smoking joint now low enough to burn her eyes. She pulled it from her lips and frowned, waving the air clear with her hand. Her mind now dulled and sluggish she lay back down and left Snap at the foot of the bed, still summoned. She blanketed herself, cocooned, and send a few goofy texts.
It was easier there, in the impersonal digital world, to be ok.

“How much do I git?” She lifted her brows.
“$50 bucks an hour.” The tech was surprisingly perky but her trainee coat indicated she fit into the ‘hadn’t yet gotten bored of her job’ category. Cee wondered if she came here every week if she could gradually watch the light die from this girl’s eyes. “But as a trainee, Miss, you can only use it for an hour.. so please make sure if you go too far from the lab to accommodate travel time!”
Cee plastered a sweet smile on her face, “Well ain’t you sweet and thoughtful bout it.” She touched the girl’s arm softly. “And I think you sold me.”
“Oh thank you!” The girl bounced, “I assure you that every W-type golem use contributes greatly to our research!! Be careful though! The fine for damaging them is.. eh.. really high.”
Cee internally screamed. She wouldn’t have minded taking some pot-shots. “Ha! GIRL what could I possibly do to it?”
“Oh you’d be surprised.. heh..” The tech looked sheepish, as if remembering something scandalous. “I’ll just need your totem.. oh a bracelet, how pretty! Now just head through that door there and it’ll be a moment.”

Cee sat outside on a low wall with her legs crossed. She smoked a cigarette, something she’d begun again since her weapon bond and then meeting Taym and Ever and Paige. Her eyes dragged over the spindly woman beside her.
“I like the jacket.” The smoked rolled from her lips without an exhale.
Snap said nothing with her tight, thin-lipped mouth. Green lips.
“Why do you look like old?” Cee looked at the creases in the woman’s skin, a sallow color that went from beige to greenish yellow around the hairline. If you could call a ponytail of vine-like dreadlocks hair. “Did they like… git you old? Like.. were you ever young?”
Snap’s eyes were a flat color of forest green with only the tiniest white pinprick of a pupil. She didn’t even blink. “Here..” Cee said, unnerved, and pushed a pair of sunglasses over the golem’s eyes. Snap moved only enough to straighten them with green fingertips.
Cee smoked her cigarette and once more just looked at the clothing on her weapon, a velvet black suit jacket embroidered in green leaves. “The lady-in-a suit thing is ********..” She made a Deniro-esque A-ok motion. “Super IN right now.”
Her eyes fell back on the lawn and paths, away from the figure just standing next to her.
Forty minutes of silence later she got up she put away her cell phone to toss the now unlit cigarette. It’d gone out while playing second fiddle to Twitter. She pulled out a compact to check her lips and re-apply.
Ten more minutes of silence and she’d given her face a new coat. Cee waved to the tech, “Back!”
“Oh! You’re early! You have another ten minutes?”
“Oh! Well ya know, first time girl. Just bein cautious er whatever.” She thumbed to the golem. “We’re done though.”
Snap went silently through the door and moments later Cee’s card was being swiped for the pay. Her only idle thoughts were how many weeks it would take to afford a runic iPod.

Cee slept with the weapon summoned. It coiled at the base of her bed like a pulsing nightlight. It didn’t dawn on her that it took Snap effort to stay that way while Cee slept, that she was doing it for the young woman’s state of mind.
Cee didn’t dream anything. In the morning she was chipper and actually said “Mornin b***h” to the whips before desummoning them.

She almost won a spar that day.
