Quote: Reconnaissance Mission S86 Location: The Sahara Desert (North Africa) Images:: x, x, xx General debriefing: The Sahara has been a strong hold of the Horseman Clans for millenia. Current events have created a demand for more widespread observation of the area, as well as a need for greater experience with the region among Hunters and trainees.
Duties include: Upkeep of base. Acclimatization. Regular patrols. Observe and record any aberrations found within the area. Capture specimens. Destroy threats to the human populace. Flagging A and S class threats for special dispatch.
Bring supplies for at least a three day stay as a base. Modified desert uniforms and gear are available from the Quartermaster. Extra charged runes are recommended.
* C class difficulty level (must have a team of three to five, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse for Reconnaissance Mission S86. You will roll at least 1 daily prompt for each of the hunters on the team, unless the mission ends early due to injury or further enemy interference. Daily Prompts: roll 1 d100 1: The ground shakes beneath your feet and cracks begin to appear in the distance when out of the sand a massive sand worm the size of the Empire State Building bursts out. Between its many segments you see tiny flashes of light that upon (dangerously) closer inspection appear to be suits of armour and weapons. Weapons with glowing runic marks. It towers above you and then smashes down upon the camp, destroying it easily. Roll 2d20 to determine your injuries. Your options are to either portal home and report, or stay and fight the creature known as The Armoury (HP: 9999) 2 - 10: Nothing happens. 11 - 20: An unusually large swarm of insects pass by the camp. They seem to pause and hover, blanketing the camp for several moments before moving on. 21 - 30: You find a stone stairway that leads to vine-covered underground temple, red flowers blooming all along its walls. You begin to hear voices, both strange and familiar. Should you get injured at any point during this, the vines will enter your body and begin growing inside your hunter. They will grow more paranoid as the days pass as well as hallucinating, the vines becoming visible under their skin after one day, and then blooming the next. Bringing them back to Deus will end their part in the mission, as they will need a two day day infirmary stay to be rid of the plants. A flower or vine-like scar will remain on their person. 31 - 60: Horsemen appear and attack your camp or patrol group. ((These can be either player character horseman you invite to battle (which will make your base RP points PVP points and worth 2 instead of 1 rp point) or you can battle against an automob who you will be able to possibly capture.)) Horseman AutoMob (clan/appearance/name are your choice, though do follow the horseman guidelines for such) HP: 60 Auto Damage: 5 Special: Should you bring their HP to either 0 exactly or 1, then you may viably capture them and bring them back to Deus. (Bonus Pay: $3000) otherwise they simply escape or dissipate. 61 - 70: Nothing happens 71 - 80: You discover an underground oasis. It's very enjoyable. 81 - 90: You fall through the sand into a stone room. Along the floor are piles of body parts. One of the piles begins to move, then several more. Roll 1d20 to escape back up the way you came or destroy a wall with your weapon. You must roll 11 or higher to succeed. Failure causes you to be mobbed by the creatures. Before you pass out, you notice their features changing to match your own. When you wake up, you are naked and alone except for your weapon's totem. You either escape under your own power or are rescued by your teammates. 91: Nothing happens. 92: You're attacked by figures of bone and rotting flesh, they move both mindlessly and as a unit, as it they were puppets. Corpse Mob: HP:30 Auto Damage: 3 Special: Every time you miss the auto damage is 6 instead of 3. When they are defeated they simply collapse into parts. 93: Nothing happens. 94 - 99: A sandstorm locks you into the base for the rest of the day. No more prompts may be rolled for that day. 100: Moths shot through with silvery veins begin to form a female figure. (post quote lizbot) * 3 mission reward points for completing this successfully Quote: Text to all: You have been selected for an External Mission in the Sahara. Pack lightly for three days. Please be punctual. A time and date will follow.

The Sahara was a killing grounds and the source of much unhappiness for one America Jones. However. The girl had a certain confidence when it came to herself dealing with the desert battlegrounds. It was a place where she's been proven to excel, an in its horrors a certain familiarity. As far as missions went, three days there didn't seem like a terrible situation at all. For America at least. Not everyone shared that particular sentiment, and the goodbyes had been lengthy.
But it was just three days. They weren't even looking over abandoned bases. They weren't going underground. It could be worse. So much worse.
Checking over her bags one last time, America waited for the rest of her team to arrive.

It had been one of those ******** mornings.
After texting Cee that she'd been selected for a mission and then finding out that Cee, too, had been picked, Paige had immediately gone to the other woman's room. Anyone who had that many ******** shoes would undoubtedly take way too long to pack, and Paige knew that this was going to turn into some kind of ******** crisis.
She hadn't been mistaken.
Tantrums, angry words, so many 'we're gonna be so ******** late's and (finally) exasperation had ended with Paige dragging Cee to the quartermaster where a bag was packed for Cee.
Paige drew up to the portal, grinning, her hand secured around Cee's wrist and two bags clutched in her free hand. The tall woman's grin broadened at the sight of the redhead waiting.
"I'm Paige. This is Cee. Sorry if we're late. We had some.. well, we had some <******** issues."

Cee had shifted from eager to frantic to pretty pissed and now was lingering somewhere around huffy pre-teen. She had a laundry list of things that she needed with her and only about 2 of them did she actually get. Neither of those was foundation.
"What up girl.. " She nodded sulkily to America and lightly twisted her wrist free as they arrived. She made no attempt to take her bag from Paige, some sort of silent payback in mule-duty that she pretended she was inflicting upon her friend.
Now that she was here, the woman straightened and attempted at looking ready but her eyes kept wandering away in thought, (face wash, a cardigan sweater and a pullover just in case the night is chilly, concealer).

"Hey there, honey." Grinning in return, she looked the two of them over briefly, and decided that could mean any number of things, but it was fine in the end because, "Y'all still got a good 10 minutes. Sometimes they ahhh...adjust the times for newbies, make sure you don't show up late just 'cause you're not used to the scramble."
She winked at Paige, and glanced at their bags, "I'm America Jones. If you're cleared for any runics, I hope you two packed them. Sahara's a nasty place."

Evan arrived exactly on time with one small bag slung over his shoulder. He nodded at the girls in greeting. "We about ready?" He was impatient to get a move on. He was getting bored with the Haunted House and wanted bigger, better prey.

"Hey Ev.." There was a smile there at least. Enough to straighten Cee a bit. America and he seemed to be so no-nonsense about this and Snap seemed to be getting weighty on her mind, pressuring her to start acting like a damn hunter.
Cee paused to smooth her hair and then touched Paige's arm gently, motioning for her bag. She wasn't a cripple, she could carry it.
"Sorry girl.." Cee frowned. America had to remember her pathetic performance in their spar. "None'a that s**t yet. Paige, girl," she touched her wrist, "this man-mountain is Evan.."

"I know Evan. He's my neighbor." Paige handed Cee her bag before frowning just a little, her attention still on America.
"Not cleared for any runics yet. You think that'll be a problem?

"We're just waiting on our fifth to show." The girl paused to Evan a moment of appreciation as per usual. Smile turning wry, America nodded, "Hopefully not, but if it is then we'll deal. Runics can give you an edge against s**t, and you're gonna want them sooner or later, but we're pretty ******** durable anyway."

He'd been warned that a summons to a mission could come at any time, and low and behold. Barely a week in and the rookie was being called out.
It hadn't taken long to pack, to dress, to gather everything he felt he needed before leaving his room. There were still a few minutes left to kill when he showed up at the designated meeting place, but there was already a group there waiting. it consisted of exactly one familiar face, and it was to her the tall Mist gravitated towards. "Hey, I'm Ezekiel, for all you that don't already know me."
One of the other girls, the dark haired one, looked like she could be the Cee he'd talked to on twitter. The other two he didn't have a clue, though their coats seemed different, like Ever's. Probably higher ranked, if the trend persisted.

"Oh, another new kid, huh?" America felt an anxious pang, quickly squashed away. Her first mission had been the Sahara and hadn't had near the amount of preparation as this. And it'd involved Caelius. At least these trainees would have a good idea of the mission parameters and known goals, not to mention someone who was fully ranked up looking out for them. They were gonna be fine. Taking out her phone she managed to angle a quick, unorganized group pic with her phone. She turned to grin at Evan and then noted the Intermediate trim, then slid her eyes to Cee who was still very much a trainee, and the realization hit her. Christ. This was a complete turn about from Russia. Jaw tightening briefly, America stood straighter, and when she spoke next, her voice didn't hold any bit of uncertainty that tried to rear its ugly head in the back of her and pit of her stomach. "Let's walk n'talk," she took the extra mission files from the lighthouse guard with a nod, but simply tucked them under her arm, already fairly familiar with what was required. The portal opened up to heat, and sand, and the blinding sun. Slipping on a pair of sunglasses, she began to lead the group toward the small base that consisted of three tents. "The roll call is as follows, I'm America Jones, Moon Hunter, and it looks like I'm the ranking hunter on this mission, so you're welcome. I use a ball n'chain, good for infighting and mid-range." She gestured to Evan, "This is Evan, and he's an experienced Sun who uses a..." she thought back and then nodded to herself, "a big ol'sword, consider him second in command. The hot little thing is Cee, Death, and she's got some whips that can do nasty s**t given half a chance. Next we got our other newbie, Miss Paige, and I have no clue what her weapon is, so you both best share with the class."

If Cee remembered Zeke, she didn't immediately say anything. The laundry list of things she needed were slowly drifting out of her mind and now she was feeling slightly ill prepared for the mission for other reasons. An anxious little knot settled in her stomach and she wanted nothing more than to slowly back away and possibly drag Paige with her.
Instead she tried to feel encouraged by America's preparedness and had actually moved around to the red-head and asked softly (so as not to interrupt her speaking) if she could see the mission folder. She was Death after all. Thankfully she also liked to know what she was going to be in for.
When her name was called she glanced up, eyes skimming up over the faces, all familiar except for Zeke, and gave him a smirk and a 'Wassup?'.

The folder was handed over without a pause, and Cee was greeted by a map of the region marked out with known and suspected danger areas and zones that needed combing over. There was a list of suspected monsters and several horseman profiles, along with red flags and tips on survival should they lose their base.
The objectives were bulleted out and to the point. Base upkeep, patrols, experience in handling the locale, observe, report, destroy when needed and able.

Cee flipped through the pages, getting familiar with the map (but she wouldn't remember and would need it on hand) and scanning the objectives. Most were straight forward enough and didn't seem difficult.
Her anxiety lessened.
She reviewed the enemy profiles, perused the areas that may need to be cleared or would be dangerous.
The tiny knot in her stomach formed anew.
Cee naturally sort of drifted to Paige again, biting one of her long nails (a soon to be recognized nervous habit) as she read. She would have liked to propose Paige, America and Evan forming a defensive triangle around her. She would be safe.
And butts smile

When Zeke approached, Paige slung an arm around his shoulder and lightly socked him in the chest. "Yeah, I'm Miss Paige and I got a big old two handed morning star. He hits real hard. Zeke here has some bitchin' chained axes." Paige's arm fell away from Zeke but she kept herself sandwiched between the other Mist and Cee. She was serious-faced now, but out of the corner of her eye when Cee started biting on one of her nails, Paige lightly nudged the dark-haired woman. Kind of a you're doing a thing stop it gesture.
