He'd found it again. Funny how he managed to keep losing it, misplacing it here or there. This time, it had somehow found its way to the very bottom of his - admittedly not large - clothes chest. Not the best place for a semi-valuable piece of jewelry to be, but that was where he'd found it, tiny sapphire eyes glittering up at him. All he'd wanted was his spare boots, not...that. That stupid brooch that he'd bought at the last Gather, because he was stupid.

Just a stupid, unambitious wingrider who'd gone and fallen in love with a goldrider. Forming a relationship with a Junior Weyrwoman had never been a goal of his (goals were really not his thing), and that was sort of the problem. There was no shortage of bronze- or even brownriders who wouldn't jump at the chance to be with a goldrider, any goldrider, and he was all too aware of that. The color of her dragon had nothing to do with Set'al's interest in Narisa, but he was worried that that was or would be the assumption. She was a candidate to be Senior Weyrwoman, after all; who wouldn't want the advantage of her affections if that came to pass, feelings that might sway Cepheith in Flight?

He didn't. Sweet Faranth, he didn't, and he didn't want anyone to think that, least of all her. What was he even doing? Why had he even bought this thing, only to keep misplacing it?

Set'al groaned and leaned back in his chair, pressing his empty hand over his eyes.

This again? Just give it to her already.

"Shut it, Pipith." His dragon was sunning outside, but Set'al spoke aloud to the empty hut anyway.

Very well. Obediently, Pipith said no more to His, but he did reach out to his most favorite Queen. Cepheith myQueen, is Yours free? If she is, I think that she should come and see Mine. There was a definite undertone to his words, heavy implication that he was up to something, and she was very much invited.

She was beginning to wonder if continuously giving certain ranking figures excuses because she didn't want to speak with them just yet was a bad thing. But then again, she really didn't want to talk with them. Not yet. Not until she had things figured out. Like numbers. For... oh Faranth help her she couldn't even remember! Narisa felt like her eyes were crossing and put down the sheaf of parchment she had been reading. Or trying to read. And make words out of scribbles that might be letters. Shells, how long had she been at this?

Since sunrise- No wait. You started in the evening and fell asleep at your desk. Again. Cepheith giggled unhelpuflly.

But the gold had her on that one. She had been falling asleep at her desk more recently. Whoops! "Kindra let me." Narisa tried to argue, figuring her friend had probably attempted to get her to move to her bed, then given up. The snort from outside confirmed this. "Okay, I'll take a break from it."

Oh good! We should go see Pipith and His. Cepheith said smoothly. She is now, my dear Pipith! I am very much intrigued. She added with a sly undertone of her own. A favorite pastime of theirs, it seemed. As soon as Mine is properly dressed, we shall be over!

Really, all she had to do - besides try and get Ceph to spill why she was so eager for them to go see Set'al, which failed - was pull on a pair of boots. She was dressed already, and wouldn't deny she couldn't stop from smiling at the thought of seeing her friend. Best friend, possibly. And... that was totally a little 'jump' in her dragon's step. "Cepheith... " She warned.

I like seeing them as much as you do. Narisa was informed, the gold brightening visibly as she caught sight of Pipith. A happy trill was directed at the small bronze followed by the Queen herself nuzzling him. Narisa just glared at both dragons, fairly certain they were up to no good.

Excellent. You will like this one, it is very good, Pipith assured her, posing himself handsomely while he awaited her arrival - a chance he was not giving his rider, although he was at least fully-clothed. Well, minus boots.

A trill from outside startled him, and he barely managed to keep himself from tipping over backwards in his chair. Who could- no. That was very definitely a gold passing by his window. Pipith, just so we're very clear: I hate you.

I know, the bronze responded cheerfully to his rider, all the while thrumming happily for Cepheith and returning her nuzzles.

Set'al grumbled something inappropriate and stood, shoving the brooch in his pocket and going to open the door. "Narisa!" He smiled, he couldn't help it when he saw her, but shards, he was nervous. "Pipith didn't tell me you were coming."

Wherry.

Cepheith chuckled, settling herself comfortably beside the smaller bronze, eyes whirling a bright excited blue. I have the utmost faith in you. She crooned, giving her bonded the most innocent look a devious dragon could produce.

Narisa didn't buy it. Especially with Pipith eating up the attention. "You two... really." She sighed.

And then she heard her name and the smile she returned was probably just as bad as the soft humming her dragon emitted when around Pipith. "Hey!" She glanced over at said bronze dragon, shaking her head. "I didn't know Ceph and I were coming until just now." Narisa looked back at her friend moving towards him. "Hope you don't mind our... ah, sudden visit." Very sudden. "At least I wasn't waking you up or anything." This time. She added, a snort from Cepheith confirming the gold caught her thought.

"Have some free time?" She asked a little hopefully.

And I will do my best to always live up to that! The bronze crooned, shifting position slightly to better accomodate his golden conspirator and friend.

"Do I ever not have free time?" he answered, grinning. The truth was, he could have wing drills right now and would gladly be late to them. He didn't, fortunately, so he wouldn't have any uncomfortable explaining to do later. Well, he might, actually, but not to his wingleader. Shaff.

"Come on in! Those two look like they need their privacy," he said with a roll of his eyes, though he had to admit he was actually a bit jealous. But not nearly as jealous as he was nervous. Stupid brooch.

Cepheith gave a draconic sort of chuckle, letting her tail twine around Pipith's while she gazed at their humans. Of that, I have no doubt! I believe Yours is not happy with this situation. She was quite amused by it all.

Narisa gave her friend the grace of seeing her roll her eyes at him before grinning. "That or I just have the best timing and catch you when not busy?" She countered, a teasing tone entering her voice. "Or maybe I just have your schedule memorized by now." This was added as she passed him to enter his hut, laughing at the dragons.

"They only need privacy to plot against us more." She said, letting her gaze sweep around the room. A few thoughts here and there that she tried very hard not to think about popped up to the forefront of her mind before she could shove them down again. "So," Narisa turned around, hands clasped behind her back like a young girl. "What did you do to Pip this time?" She teased.

He is, but he isn't. He confuses himself, Pipith snickered, all but purring as he cuddled closer. Calling Cepheith had been a wonderful idea.

"Memorized? I'm surprised you have time to stalk a lowly wingrider like me," he quipped, his gaze wandering as she walked past before he caught himself. Eyes up, Faranth help him.

"I haven't done anything to him! At least, if I have, he hasn't told me yet." Set'al shut the door and leaned against, combing a hand through his hair. One of his favorite nervous habits. "As far as punishments go, though, I wouldn't mind if he used this sort more often."

Minus the looming terror, preferably. Better get this over with quickly, before Pipith did something more drastic. "It's, um, probably because I have something for you, actually, and he's a nosy b*****d."

Cepheith tilted her head slightly at that. I think he confuses me too. She snickered, wondering what it was exactly that Pipith's was so confused over. Oh this was definitely a much better way to be spending her afternoon! And Hers was out doing something instead of stressing.

Narisa snorted. "Lowly my a**." She muttered, shooting him an innocent enough grin. And just managing to miss his wandering gaze by a few seconds.

"I highly doubt that," she said dryly, gazing in the direction their two troublesome dragons were. Then she noted the nervous gesture, her attention refocused back on Set'al. "Ha! Who wouldn't want a goldrider harassing them, right?" She laughed, knowing it wasn't like that at all. But she could still give him grief.

In fact, it took her a few extra seconds to register what he had actually said after that. He.. had something for her? Narisa blinked in surprise at her friend. "You do?" I bet it's something reeeeeally good. This was said to both Pipith and Hers. She ignored her dragon, all attention on the man in front of her. A man that, she wouldn't admit to anyone but Cepheith (okay and Kindra too) was attractive. "Do I get to see it? Or do I have to earn it first?" She tried to tease but it may have come out a little more husky then she intended.

"Depends on the goldrider," he answered, laughing with her. Narisa could harass him anytime she wanted, and he wouldn't mind, even taking into account occasional moments of awkwardness. Kind of like this one. The wave of amusement he caught from his dragon didn't help matters at all, the bronze twitching his tail in anticipation and urging for Set'al and Cepheith to hear, Come on, we're waiting!

So help me, dragon... The sentiment was stopped in its tracks by the teasing but also slightly suggestive question. He opened his mouth to reply, but couldn't quite wrap his mind around how. Or if. He could just gloss over it. It might even be safer, as she may or may not have meant for it to sound quite the way he'd heard it.

Finally, he made up his mind, and the lost look was replaced by a grin. "I was just going to give it to you, but now that you put it that way..."

Oh, please let this not end with him getting himself slapped.

Kyrieko
PostPosted: Sat Sep 27, 2014 5:49 pm

Oh yes, do please get on with it! A honey warm voice added with Pipith's. Cepheith was eagerly awaiting to see what it was he had as well as how Hers would react!

"Oh really? Does that mean I should sign my name up on some list, to claim which days I get to harass you?" She laughed, not feeling the awkward of the moment just yet. However she was beginning to feel that, despite dragon deviousness, this had been a good idea to come here. Set'al always seemed to make her smile and lighten her stressed moods.

And then her own suggestive yet teasing words were caught and returned and Narisa gave him a look. "You mean it would have been that easy?" Did she sound offended? Of course not! But now that she would actually have to do something to get this... gift, she felt a little nervous. But excited. And confused. And shaffit, feelings were complicated! "Faranth help me... dare I ask what I have to do?" A pause. "Stripping naked does not count this time!"

What if he was really persuasive? Cepheith asked, including Pipith in her question. Narisa chose not to respond, but her cheeks may have grown a tad red.

You're awful. You're both awful. Please tell Cepheith that for me. And, after thinking about it for a moment, Pipith actually did relay Set'al's thoughts to the gold, albeit with great amusement. His rider was always saying such things, but it was very rare that he ever actually meant them.

"I don't think a list is really necessary. There's not exactly a line or anything." That wasn't completely true, he supposed, as some people did find bronzeriders particularly...appealing, but he didn't find that particularly appealing. Significantly less so than it had been ten turns ago, or even just a few turns ago.

"Of course it would have been easy. I'm always-" Wait, no, there had to be a better way to say that, which became extremely difficult to find when Narisa asked what she had to do, but announced outright that stripping naked was not an option. It was impressive how consistently good she was at making it difficult for him to think. What was he supposed to say to that? His own face quickly turned red as he opened his mouth and shut it again.

Alright, fine. Two could play at this game of awkward! He crossed his arms and gave her a look of his own. "No fair! How did you know what I was going to lead with? Well, that was all I had, so you'll just have to figure something out on your own."

Because persuasion is his strong suit, clearly, Pipith pointed out with a snort.

Kyrieko
so bad.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 27, 2014 7:15 pm

I know we are~ Cepheith snorted, tail tip twitching now with her anticipation of where this battle would go.

Narisa just gave him a look, and then made a show of looking his form over with a thoughtful expression. "Uh-huh. Not buying that one." She said dryly. And why yes, you could consider that and admission of calling him handsome. Without actually saying it.

He may not have finished his sentence before she added her little bit, but Narisa could fill it in herself. And she couldn't help but laugh. He'd walked himself into that one! "I'll keep that in mind for the future." She managed to get out, a hand covering her mouth to try and keep the laughter subsided. And failing.

Until he gave her a look. And damn him! Narisa quit laughing to cross her arms and match his stance. "Now that's not fair!" She argued, trying not to let her own mind wander too much. So she had to come up with something on her own now? Shaffit!

Cepheith just giggled. Or what the dragon equivalent was. I'm betting a kiss on the cheek is not sufficient enough. She said thoughtfully with a gleeful undertone.

Now she was the silent one, unable to come up with a good response to that. She swallowed a little nervously, tossing aside thought after thought of ways to acquire this... gift. Finally settling on one thing, and the awkward silence stretching on to nerve-wracking, Narisa uncrossed her arms, hands on hips. "Fine!" And, before she could lose her own nerve, she walked up and kissed him. A real kiss. Not the friendly peck on the cheek (because yes, Ceph did have a point).

When she proclaimed that it wasn't fair, his only response was to grin. And wait, because she went quiet for a worryingly long stretch of time, or at least what seemed like a long time. For all he knew, it could have been as little as a few seconds, but it felt like forever, just leaning against his door with a goofy grin that began to waver, until finally she made up her mind. He was expecting her to do something silly, to keep playing this little game of theirs - this awkward, drawn-out, intoxicating, frustrating game.

He wasn't expecting the kiss. Had he hoped for it? Yes. Faranth, yes. But he hadn't dared to think that she would actually do it. There was a brief hesitation rooted in disbelief before he returned it, uncrossing his arms to wrap one around her and pull her closer. (This was so, so much better than getting slapped.)

When it was over, he surrendered and whispered into her ear, honest but well aware of how it sounded and trying to suppress a laugh, "It's in my pocket."

This is even better than I was expecting. It was endlessly entertaining, but also going rather well! A most excellent combination.

Shaff him and his goofy grin and this awkward, horrible, amusing game! It had not helped at all with her thoughts, and ultimately, it was the grin itself that made her think to kiss him. To wipe that smile right off his face. And replace it with something just as good. Or even better. Because Faranth help her, she had a weakness for that smile. And an even bigger weakness for the man that used it against her.

She really hadn't known what to expect by the bold move. Would he freak out? Would it be too awkward? Faranth, what if he rejected it? Although the last she highly doubted. But after a brief hesitation, he returned it. And shells, it was worth it! She felt his arm wrap around her and she willingly moved closer, her own hands having found a resting place against his shoulders.

Finally! And we didn't have to force them into it! Look at Ours growing up all by themselves. Cepheith cackled, lowering her head to rest against hers (and Pipith's) front legs.

The whisper in her ear, after it was over, tickled and made her shiver. But his words - and she could totally tell he was trying not to laugh - made her snort and let her head fall against him. "You are terrible." She muttered against him, peeking down his chest and towards where said pockets should be. With a sly little grin hidden from view, Narisa slowly slid her hands down his sides to pat at each pocket, finding the right one. A small hesitation in actually reaching in his pocket lasted a second or two at most before she slipped her hand in his pocket, feeling her fingers brush something cool. Carefully she grasped it and pulled it out, all playfulness momentarily forgotten as she stared at the beautiful little treasure she'd just found.

It only took them half of forever! Pipith laid his head by Cepheith's, letting out a contented sigh. Maybe now His would fuss less! It had been getting rather old.

Set'al was definitely not fussing now. She could have pulled away after the kiss, but she hadn't, so he took that as a good sign. He was still a little nervous, yes, because she was about to find the brooch, but the sensation of her hands sliding down his sides went a long way towards offsetting that nervousness.

"I know," he said, though the cheerful tone came out a little more hoarsely than usual. And then she had it. Moment of truth. "Do you like it?"
