Oliver had been in the infirmary for almost twenty-four hours now, which meant that Arorangi had started to get worried. His own dreams were messed up, and he hadn't been sleeping well at all, which was frustrating; but his concern for the other trainee outweighed Arorangi's own concern for himself.

So here he was, at the infirmary, sitting beside Oliver's bed, Arorangi leaning back and reading a magazine that he'd borrowed from the front, though it was some sort of outdated health magazine from 2012 and wasn't exactly prime reading material.

Oliver woke very slowly. He became aware of light behind his eyelids, the beeping of the monitor, and a pain below his ribs. For a moment that is all it was. Something shifted nearby, and he turned his head towards the noise, finally opening his eyes.

Seeing Arorangi there was slightly amusing to the trainee, such a giant guy just sitting there with a magazine, but then he remembered what had happened. In his mind it must have only been a few minutes ago.

"Sorry," he muttered to Arorangi, his throat feeling a bit dry. "I, um... must have fainted..." Oliver smiled weakly. "I'm okay, sorry to make you worry..."

"Little bird!"

The legs of the chair, which Arorangi had been leaning back in, hit the linoleum floor of the infirmary with a loud clatter as Arorangi abruptly reeled forward. He stood up and took a step towards the bed, leaning over and patting the top of Oliver's head with one large, tattooed hand.

"Fainted?" Arorangi repeated, brows drawing together. "You have been out for quite some time, my friend! I was starting to wonder if you were going to stay in that dreamland of yours! But thankfully you are awake, and I must tell Lydia that you are all right!"

He pulled out his phone and began typing a message, all the while casting careful glances at Oliver.

"How are you feeling, mate?"

"I'm really sorry, usually all it takes is the whole... uh, falling over part, to restore circulation or something..." Oliver apologized again, this time through his long bangs as Arorangi's hand flattened them against his forehead. Something felt off about the situation, and the more Oliver woke up the more off it felt. The last thing he could remember was his shield being broken, but how long had he really been out?

He tried to sit up, but a sharp pain rippled through his abdomen and he gave up for the time being. "Ouch... um... You didn't make Lydia worried, did you? I'm not that bad, I feel, um, just a bit tired." Oliver didn't mention the pain, he figured it was only natural to be in a little bit of pain even after Finn fixed him up.

Arorangi gave Oliver a searching look from over the phone he still held in his hands. "You have been here for almost a full day, my friend!" he said, reaching out to carefully but firmly push Oliver back down. "You must rest, but I am glad that you are awake now, it was becoming worrisome. "

Arorangi smiled in what was clearly supposed to be a reassuring way as he tucked the phone back into his pocket. "She and I both wanted to know if you were okay," he explained gently. "But now she knows that you are all right, and I am glad to see that you have not been too seriously hurt."

He glanced around the room. "You do not look too badly, is there anything that you need, little bird?"

"O-oh..." Oliver began to feel a little worried himself. That was when he began really taking stock of the situation, he wasn't wearing what he had fought in, and there was an IV in his hand he hadn't noticed immediately upon waking. "S-sorry, I-I'm okay, you don't... have to worry..."

His reaction was like that of a child who had scraped their knee, and was just starting to realize they probably should be crying. He looked a little lost.

But when Arorangi asked him if he needed anything, the trainee shook his head. He was a bit thirsty, and wondered if Finn would have left that bag of junk food in his room, and if someone had fed the minipets that morning... But all those thoughts were a bit of a jumble. "I-It's n-not that bad... is it? Can I go soon, now that I'm awake?"

Arorangi reached out and fluffed Oliver's hair again with the stern look of someone who very much should just lie still and stop worrying so much about other people worrying over him. "I told you, little bird, that it does not bother me! We are friends, you and me, I will always worry about my friends! I wish you to be safe and happy, and when you are not, that is when I worry!"

He withdrew his hand and sat back down, Arorangi dragging his chair over closer to Oliver's bedside so that he could lean over the guardrail. "They said you may leave soon, your injuries are not severe, you were just out for too long so they brought you here just in case. But now that you are awake you should be able to leave! Do you wish to leave, mate?"

Oliver frowned, closing his eyes for a second and rubbing his face. "You shouldn't worry so much about me. I-it would be really hard if something bad happened to me..." He didn't elaborate, but that brooding look was back on his face. There was definitely something going on in his mind that Oliver was reluctant to share.

But he was eager enough to change the topic. "Yes, yes please," he said quickly, accompanied by another attempt to sit up, which was abandoned with just as much haste. It might not have been a severe injury, but those injured muscles were very important for helpful things like sitting up. Oliver was caught in a bit of a trap, neither wanting to stay any longer than necessary, or wanting to ask Arorangi for a hand sitting up.

Arorangi poked Oliver's temple with one tattooed finger. "Hey, now," he said sternly, eyebrows drawing together. "Do not be talking about yourself in such a sad tone, little bird. What is it that is on your mind? What is the matter? Talking is the only way to fix things."

Too bad for Oliver, Arorangi's keen eyes had already spotted what the other had tried to hide. With the ease of someone entirely well-practiced in the art of picking people up, Arorangi stood up, reached out, wrapped a large hand around Oliver's upper arm, and gently but easily hauled him to his feet.

"There you go, little bird, see! You are strong."

"Ow- uh, thanks," For all the times he had cautioned patients in the infirmary not to move before they were up to it, he was very relieved for his friend's help. He leaned back against the edge of the bed as he tested his weight, and was surprised at how weak his legs felt. But he could keep his feet under him, and that was all he needed.

He took his coat, which was hanging near the bed, but he couldn't see his clothes anywhere. It didn't matter, Oliver knew he would just be back in there for another shift later.

"Nothing, it's okay," he replied, a somewhat faked smile on his face. And then he immediately attempted a change of topic. "I think, uh, I should go lie down."

Arorangi would have normally pushed Oliver back into bed to sleep more; but he knew how desperately the other wanted to be out of the infirmary and away from the prying eyes of everyone else. And while Oliver was unsteady on his feet and paler than usual, he could at least stand.

"Come on," Arorangi said firmly, sliding a supporting arm around Oliver's waist and helping him toward the door. "Let's go back to your room, little bird, you can rest there."

Oliver winced at the first step, but it was easier once he got moving. "Um, so I was out for awhile, right? What happened? It wasn't that bad... was it?" He asked, gently investigating the area he was injured with his fingers while they walked. Finn probably stitched up the wound well. Judging from the lingering pain, and the Moon intermediate's temperament, Oliver merely assumed he wasn't gentle about it.

"Um... can we stop at the minipet labs?" The kid asked hopefully. "I-I'm not sure if they would have been fed this morning, since I'm usually the one who does it..."

"Not much has happened," said Arorangi, as he and Oliver moved slowly toward the infirmary door, Arorangi giving a brief nod and a wide smile to the tech on duty, who waved them both through, beaming. "I have spoken with Lydia already, she is all right, and so is everyone else. There has not been much information after that, I am guessing we are just waiting for now."

He could have probably carried Oliver easily with just one arm, but that would have been inconsiderate to just pick the other up when he'd just gotten out of the infirmary, so Arorangi refrained. He did, however, give Oliver a stern look.

"Bed," he said firmly. "Someone else can check on the minipets, but you must rest."

Although Oliver no longer cowered because of his large friend, the stern expression did make him wilt slightly. "I suppose I can check on them tomorrow morning then..." He replied in a tiny voice.

He was silent for a bit, letting everything sink in. His abdomen hurt. His stomach grumbled.

"Ah, do you know, um, where Finn put that bag of chips and stuff?" Oliver asked hopefully. "You can have some food too, since you did most of the work."

"Tomorrow sounds like a great idea," said Arorangi, with a stern look in Oliver's direction. They were walking down the hallway to the dormitories now, Arorangi mostly supporting Oliver. "You must rest, little bird, otherwise you will not be able to get better. Rest, in your own room, where you are most familiar!"

Down another hallway, slow but steady.

"Finn?" asked Arorangi, casting a sideways glance at his friend. "Ah...I am not too certain, Oliver, but I am sure it is somewhere in your room."
