The beach was brilliant as ever, a jewel in the afternoon sun. Like the generations that had come before him - or so he'd been told - Eoin enjoyed the warm shallows more than anything, where he could bask without being baked. His sister had told him of this particular stretch of beach, where the sand was soft and fine and the waters not too murky, and there he now sat, stretched out in the shallows, his bold coat hidden beneath a few well-secured fronds of seaweed. His sister, at least, had warned him of that much - it wouldn't do to get snatched up by something that wanted to eat him, so he had to disguise himself. It was all for the best, though... After all, he got to enjoy the sun. And solitude. Blessed solitude, for once.

Quote:
The day was unexpectedly warm and with the sun beating down on Grayson so violently had fatigued him. The stallion knew by the faint sound of crashing waves that there was water nearby. Glorious refreshing water. So, the grey speckled Soquili did his best to drag his hooves along the dirt and into sandy shores before cooling his burning appendages in the soothing ocean. He continued to go deeper, soaking his belly and the waves would come reach up to slap his sides. "Ahh, me thinks this is more than I could have hopes for. Rejuvenation at it's best," the stallion hissed out in his usual melodic voice. Little did Grayson know that a few stay strands of kelp were beginning to intertwine with his legs as he stood still while the waves danced around him.

Quote:
Before Eoin knew that anything had even entered the water, his strands of kelp tossed him into the belly of some great pale beast, and it was all he could do to stop the water from going up his nose and down his throat. Scrambling, his little hooves paddled and his tail swished him a few feet away, the kelp's hold on him broken as he surfaced and sucked in a breath. Next to him was that same great white creature, though he could see now that it was a soquili - a "regular" one, though it had to be at least six times his height. Unsure and unable to see its face, Eoin peered up at it. "Hello...?" he said, wondering if today would be the day he finally made friends with a land-dweller... Despite the rather poor introduction thus far.

Quote:
A solid thwap against someone's side and you would assume that the individual might be a bit alarmed, but Grayson stood strong with his glowing eyes staring straight forward, doing what they did best, exuding toxic looking fumes. It was only when he noticed a disembodied voice that his senses began searching and at last he fixated his attention down at the itty bitty creature who floated feet away. "Oh, a mini morsel for me? Hello tasty looking treat," he began to muse happily at the thought of a decent meal but as he stepped to turn the stallion's legs became tangled in the snare that is seaweed and down he went, head below water and scrambling for escape.

Quote:
The soquili's words rang horror in the little seathi's ears, but before he could back up or sink below the surface or get away from the pale stallion looming over him, he'd disappeared - sunk straight below the surface. The water bubbled and seethed in front of Eoin, and as he gazed at it, his ears flicked, trying to think of what to do.

His first thought was to leave him down there, let him deal with it on his own; after all, hadn't he just threatened to eat him? But despite the instinct to freeze that coursed through his veins, Eoin knew he had to act. If someone died right in front of him and he hadn't helped, wouldn't it just be his fault? That would be awful.

Shaking his head at himself, he ducked under the water, trying to think what a tiny little fellow like himself could do to help somebody so much larger than him - and all he could think was to get his head above water. If the stallion inhaled water, he'd be done for. So Eoin went over to where his face was and nudged his nose up with a knee, praying the apparently hungry stallion wouldn't take the opportunity to chomp him.

Salt water rushed up his flared nostrils while also dousing the ghastly lime hued glow that oozed from his eyes and mouth. His massive limbs struggled to tear the seaweed that ensnared him in it's trap but the plant was durable. Dangerously so. The waves that crashed nearby them only sent the strands wrapping tighter.

The eeriest part of the whole situation was that despite Grayson's struggles and efforts he didn't particularly seem distraught. Death never really seemed to be a thing in the grey speckled stallion's mind for he had never witnessed it. Therefore it was an unknown to him.

As his head broke the surface of the water the stallion came to notice that his head was being poised up from a little hoofed limb. Frantically the larger male blinked his eyes to rid it of salt water before calmly straightening out his legs enough to support himself on. At least he could hold his own weight now. He just couldn't walk anywhere. "You have assisted me me, little morsel. I thank you," he hissed out, a little rough from gargling salty waters but it was appreciative no doubt.
