"Sorry to message you late I'm just.." He didn't know where to start, clenching his fists briefly in a short bust of fury. "...I'm pissed off. I'll explain but... I mean... not right here." He kept moving, gesturing with his hands as though the sweeping gestures could either bury the rage or throw it away in chunks, crossing and uncrossing his arms, running his fingers through his hair... "Let's find a... I mean can we go find someplace and get a beer or something?" It was not an entirely a peaceful thought, he wanted to seek out the dirtiest dive he could think of, like... Jacks or whatever the place had been where he'd had his shoulder broken, and pick a fight with the largest guy in the bar. He was sort of hoping Themiscara could help him hold off from that. Keep him in check so he didn't go down swinging... so to speak. God he just needed to... No he wanted to hurt something. And that was a dangerous abyss he was spinning on the edge of. Down that road was... maybe not failure... but no answers either.

"S'no big deal. You saved me from dying on my homework though." Hands shoved into her sweater pockets, she walked steadily beside him, keeping well out of the way of side blows from his movements. It wasn't that she was unused to Kairatos being in a temper--the bull motif fit him spectacularly well, good job cosmic designer--she just wasn't interested in ripping the soft fabric of the sweater she'd been lounging around in when she'd gotten the text. But she'd put on the grungier tank beneath it for a reason before she left, along with the high top boots with a heavier crunch to their step. The sweater could come off, and she'd be game for whatever. But the sweater had to come off first.
Besides. Her curiosity was perking up. He had a story to tell, so whom was she to not lend an ear? Or a wallet for drinks? "Got a preference for what sort of place? Or just a wherever?" Glancing at how he kept moving, she gave a snort. "Sure you don't want to hit a gym with a good punching bag first?" But her eyes flickered along the options on the street they were on. A pricier place further down with a bit of a line forming. A smaller place closer to them, inside she could see people staring at a sports game on TV. More options if they kept moving. She kept her pace easy, personal atmosphere calmer against his stormy one. What had riled him up? "You take a bite of something you shouldn't have?"

"I'm a little afraid to ask what the homework was." He shot her a sidelong look, as that seemed a bit dramatic. "I... I don't know... I just need to blow off some steam. Zia and I had a... I don't know it wasn't really an argument, it was just bullshit. She's... she's all..." He wasn't sure how to phrase it, away from the situation he was half torn between being angry at her and not wanting to insult her in front of others... "She got all, judgy because oh lord Bischophite is a monster and I shouldn't bother trying to help him out even though he wants to purify and ******** knows thats a nightmare because he's ... I dunno it's like his youma turned into an infection and it's ******** s**t up. But yeah HIM doing bad things makes him not worth saving, but her past with Ares doesn't come up god help you, and CASTOR... apparently we don't TALK about CASTOR. CASTOR is off limits to point to as a problem, we only change the subject and try to order take out and pretend it's not weird as ******** to pretend the s**t ball didn't just cold blooded murder a bunch of people. Should I ask how your mom handled that by the way?" He had no idea what Castor and Pollux had done later. "I'm just... I walked out on it. I mean... ******** take out. This is such a ******** up thing, apparently we call the pot black but the Kettle is "inverse white" or something."

"Lemme put it this way," she grinned upon catching his look. "If the Negaverse doesn't load me up with enough scars by the time I graduate DCU, my fashion design projects will because I bite off so much ******** more than I can chew in a timely manner." The dress inspired by some of her visions on Mars was going to remain sitting on her workbench a lot longer than it probably should, but it'd give her hands a rest. For now.
But her problems weren't the focus of this outing, so Danika quickly put the lid on her own--well, rather mundane delemas, she had to admit--and kept a careful eye to her companion. She'd been about to make a cheap joke, Lover's quarrel? but the description he'd launched into about the conversation had her keeping her mouth firmly in line. He'd mentioned Zia before--roommate, landlord, friend--but her exact role in the grand scheme of things was beyond her knowledge. Still, easy to make assumptions in that Xanthus would talk to her about these things. She couldn't help but get snagged on one part he'd mentioned. "I'm... going to ask you to elaborate on that 'her past with Ares' part some time. Not now," she added hastily, "but at some point. Just a heads up I guess." Hey. He'd been the one to mention it. Her brow was furrowed as his words sank into her brain. The way he talked about the conversation... unnerved her.
His question about her mom drove a dry laugh from her though. Her smile was bitter, eyes narrowed as her fists clenched within the pockets. "Oh you'll love the answer to that one." Red eyes peered at him through black bangs as she continued in a mocking sing-song tone, "The police found evidence of high foot traffic, and blood, but no bodies to be found anywhere. They took the ******** bodies who the ******** knows where." She'd left the area not long after everyone else to power down and make the call, so at least she was honest in telling her mother she'd seen no one moving them or in the area. At least there'd been some evidence to prove she hadn't been filing a false report. She just had the police now wasting time trying to keep an eye out for a pile of missing bodies.
Danika let out a long breath, looking up to the sky that looked only like an ink blot due to the lights around them, giving up for the moment trying to decide which place would be better for drinks with this conversation. "I'da walked out too, to be honest. Obviously I donno her past or what skeletons she's got around, but... how does someone just ignore the fact a senshi prince just murdered a bunch of people? I don't care that they're Negaverse agents--" She paused at that, looking back to him with a somber expression. "Well. I... expect none of us will be able to come out of a war without blood on our hands. I can't... really say I'm comfortable with that, and yeah... I kinda hope I never am in that situation myself. But this... it looked like cold-blooded murder to me. Not a fair fight at all, not... I donno. Does honor exist in a war? I donno. Sorry, I'm getting off track." She hadn't mentioned Bischofite. She wasn't even sure how to begin approaching that subject. In a world of black and white, the moment he became infected by a youma, he was lost to Chaos. Right? But Kairatos didn't seem to think so, and if the guy wanted to purify...
Well... why didn't he? In her own mind, Danika couldn't comprehend a more clear 'Chaos won this fight' situation, if a Negaverse agent couldn't purify. Even if they claimed they still wanted to. She stood beside a man who'd made that same choice. So. Wasn't the situation that black and white?
What in this world was so crystal clear? Crap. Maybe they didn't need downers during this conversation.
"Any reason to think she might be siding with the brothers?" Trying to get the topic back on track, anyways.
Ryuthulhu Oh look I kinda did a thing.

"Working with...? NO! I ******** I hope not. I haven't got another place to crash." He didn't want to think that, she'd told him before that she regretted allowing Ares to order her to cover the actions of 'Operation Rota', but if she was pretending that what Castor was doing was different... Maybe he should wonder exactly what part of it she regretted. He knew she called what he did different because she liked him, but that wasn't an excuse to deny Bischophite wanting to... "They must have taken them to Castor... or Pollux... or both... ********. That was a LOT of bodies. How the hell did they pull that off? Even together?" It pissed him off too, on top of the Zia thing, all those people who would never have true closure over their relatives just because Castor and Pollux had decided it was their right to pass judgement, not only over the Negaverse, the Senshi and the Knights, but over civilians who had no idea what their relatives were part of "Goddamnit everything about this is ******** up."

She winced, not intending her haphazard attempt at getting the conversation back on track to take a louder turn. "Hope you never need it, but I've got room in my apartment if you don't mind taking over a living room." The spare room she had was already occupied by her workroom, but she wasn't against someone making use of her couch.
Still, she removed a hand from her pockets to try and wave off the situation. "Sorry, I probably shouldn't have said that. Not like I know the chick or anything about her--beyond what you've told me. Just not sure what to make of your conversation is all." There wasn't a reason to sugar coat things to Xanthus, that at least Danika had taken a stance on. Something she found refreshing, in a way. It sucked constantly trying to bite her tongue these days around some folks. She wasn't really someone with a nature for that.
His focus on the bodies though got nothing but a shrug from her for a moment. Knights were on par with Eternals from her understanding. A scowl marred her face for a moment as the thoughts lingered. "Why take them? On their worlds they can't display them, so there's no real way to antagonize the enemy. Trophies? But the bodies will decompose. No magic can stop that. Even in the cold they'll only be preserved so far." Not that she was an expert on forensics or body decomposition, but she'd like to think years of random documentary surfing had taught her a thing or two. She'd long since stopped thinking about the families of the people involved. She'd driven herself to an emotional state already that night, caught somewhere between fury and depression. How easily could that be any of them? Anyone she knew-- She squashed that thought down before it could go further.
"I know things are, in layman's terms, supposed to be Chaos versus Order. But they're the ones drawing this line. They're the ones calling war against Earth." Her eyes hardened as she looked to Xanthus, lifting the hand that held the smooth silver ring that held its own glamour while she wasn't garbed as Themiscyra. "I might be a knight of Mars, but I'm Earthling born and raised. Hard to not see an enemy out of a senshi claiming to want to fight against my birthplace."

"He's a prince." Kairatos tossed this little gem out like a dart, waiting to see how it hit. "I fought with him when I was a lieutenant and didn't get how over my head I was. Would have helped to have had someone tell me what the huge wings actually meant." He let this hang, before he added, with a darker note bleeding into his voice. "His wings are black." He hadn't thought about this at the time, but after that... After meeting Castor he had not seen another pair of black wings that meant anything good. Like ravens of ill omen, they meant darkness and pain. "I think it was supposed to be that black and white. Maybe thats why Ares corrupted. I don't know. Little deep for me. But I know bad news when I see it." "I don't know why he didn't go Prince on everyone in the warehouse. Would have made a bigger impression... well... on some. But I'm with you. I was born right here.... they need us here. Not on some dead planet."

Well that got him a sharper look. Prince? Royal? Weren't they kinda supposed to be senshi idols or however that worked? "Shouldn't he be trying to purify Chaos instead of needlessly killing?" She stopped walking and turned to face Xanthus head on, eyes widening as the full extent of her own words hit home. "Are you telling me that ******** just killed them without bothering to see if they were willing to switch-- ********, <********>, the other one said something about not everyone purifying but... <********> What if they hadn't offered? They could have been standing beside the bodies of more corrupted knights, potential allies, potential friends capable of helping their cause.
All because some ******** senshi b*****d wouldn't extend the offer.
The color of his wings meant nothing to her. If Kairatos had meant to rile Themiscyra up to a combative level, his pointing out the insane one was a prince was apparently enough as Danika grit her teeth and glanced at the street around them. She wanted something to punch before she started shouting.
"One person corrupting shouldn't doom an entire people," she spat in response to the mention of Ares, though the response itself seemed absentminded as she continued to look around the street. But that would mean not all Negaverse agents deserved to be treated so black and white, didn't it? ********. This was getting deeper than she'd wanted to bother going that night. Finally she looked back to him, jaw set as her shoulders stiffened. "So that's it then? We're at war against these two and anyone stupid enough to listen to them? We can't go back to space yet. We shouldn't have to. Earth doesn't deserve to be lost when we were born here."
How did they even fight a guy like that? She wasn't even stupid enough to take on a General. Weren't senshi royals even stronger than them..?

"We start by remembering that we have more people on our side than he has on his, then we try and make sure it stays that way. Then we figure out what to do about those two." He added, with an edge. "BOTH of them." Pollux was less powerful, but he was the one acting like a combination of PR agent and leash, turning a blind eye or maybe even encouraging Castor's strange behavior. "Probably wouldn't hurt to get one of those audio classes in Italian either" he half joked. If the brothers were talking about them, he'd like to know in advance, so that they couldn't decide to stab him in the middle of something. "After that I don't know." He admitted. "I guess someone could try and infiltrate and go assassinate one or both of them. Would have to be someone fast though. Maybe a good thousand years in the cauldron would fix the damage on those two. Or maybe not. Who knew, and he wasn't going to as Castor, who while he seemed sure he fully understood the reincarnation cycle, also clearly had some pretty warped ideas of how "Balance" worked. And time. And... well... a ******** of a lot of other things. "Sorry I thought it was common knowledge that the b*****d was a royal."

At least that was true. Though some at the impromptu meeting had voiced their siding with the homicidal maniacs--she remembered in particular the chick with the egg print that was going after the Cosmos knight, only further solidifying Themiscyra's view of how little information the senshi seemed to have--most.... most people wouldn't agree with it.
She refused to believe the war had tainted so many people that deeply.
"Have you eve fought a royal before?" Her voice was still clipped, body still tense, but she at least was able to redirect her rage into a semi useful thought process. How much could a Knight do up against a senshi royal? These were things she'd never thought to ask, never once thought she'd need to take into consideration. And while Xanthus might have joked about taking a class in Italian...
His later idea.... made sense, but her brow furrowed, trying to think of who she'd even trust in a situation like that. Or rather, who she'd trust to be able to stay safe under a situation like that. The flippant part of her mind wanted to say, Sure I can try. But she wasn't sure if she was actually capable of anything beyond the potential infiltration. Assuming, of course, her response to their little show even allowed for more favorable responses on their part later on.
Danika gave a snort, eyeing him with a dry smile. "Only royals I've heard of are your Iris and Chronos, and that's only because the latter's got knights. Oh, and Polaris, same reason." Not that she'd met a knight personally under that symbol, but she'd heard of them. "Senshi royals haven't really been very big deals to me till now, beyond the one that helped you purify. That's about the only use I see of them."

"Went toe to toe with Frosty when I was a Lieutenant. That's how I met him to begin with. He didn't seem quite as messed up in the head then, but he made a lot of d**k jokes." He shrugged as she dismissed the Senshi royals as a whole. He had no idea what Mars would have been liked, and sort of hoped she would have been more together, or at least less... dismissive of the knights than many senshi seemed to be. "Me either. I mean, I'd have offered Iris help if she asked, but the most I've been able to offer her was some information about Youma, which... made her puke." He shrugged awkwardly. It wasn't quite the accomplishment that he might have once considered it. "The knights for the other royals... were they involved with their knights?" It was becoming more clear that there was a divide between knights and the Senshi, a quiet line that seemed to be kind of avoided in thought and conversation.

Well that got a faintly impressed look on her face, even as a smirk slowly formed. "What rank was he at the time? But wow. Sounds like a prize at all times." She was fine with sexual jokes, but it also depending on whom they were coming from. "Is it weird seeing him like this now? Doesn't sound like there were signs of psychosis at the time." Was it a side effect of the war? But he'd... left for a while, hadn't he? So what had he experienced elsewhere to make him this way? Whatever it was, it was doing a funny thing to his judgement in terms of how balance worked.
The royal of Mars had never even crossed the knight's mind. They weren't there. They weren't a part of Danika or Themiscyra's life--at least not now, if they ever were. Though it was clear to her senshi and knights had to work together, it was equally clear that not everyone seemed to grasp the concept they were on equal footing. Or perhaps that was only her bias speaking, watching at how quickly some had turned down and away from the concept that Negaverse agents were also knights corrupted.
Danika made a face to hear the result of... whatever it was the information was he'd share. But she could take a guess. "How many senshi know the youma were once human? Or is that just something we knights were lucky enough to hear?" She'd sure as ******** not known till the Code enlightened them. It wouldn't shock her to hear most were blind to it. Was it better to know or to remain ignorant?
His question made her shrug in turn. "No idea for Polaris. Don't know the senshi or any of the knights. Don't know who Chronos is personally... but I met one of the knights. It doesn't sound like she deals with them a heck of a lot? I think. She didn't give me too much info on that, just mentioned Chronos and--uh, something about the Zodiacs?--kept up a sort of electric fence around the system called the Surrounding to keep I guess bigger youma out?" Her memory of the conversation with Hara was fuzzy, but she was pretty sure that was the gist of things. "Any of that ring any bells with you?" It was sort of pathetic how in the dark she was over all that. She made a mental note to see if she could speak to the Chronos knight again, see if perhaps she could explain things a bit more to her.

"Not really, I wasn't part of that battle, though I remember it being talked about." The Surrounding was just one of those things he knew about in passing, though he couldn't resist drawing himself up a little proudly as he added. "And he was a prince then too, that's how I knew his rank. Didn't notice my jacks but he sure noticed the chair. And my fists. Otherwise... I'm guessing the word about Youma must be getting out there somehow. It's a useful tool if you want to spook people out on killing your tools... I dunno." He felt a little more calm now anyway. "Sorry again by the way, thanks for listening it's just... an awkward night."

So she'd really have to look for Hara again. Not that that was a bad thing, it would be good to see how the other Page was doing--and what new sweets she'd cooked up. But it would have been nice to have more info to add to the conversation. Ah well.
She blew out a breath, the air playing with her bangs before she laughed. It... was very easy to imagine Kairatos taking on the Prince without much complaint or hesitation, even if she didn't have any idea what he'd looked like or really been like prior to... well. Being Kairatos, ganking her youma kills. "So chairs and fists are still effective against them. That's probably really good to keep in mind if I'm ever that close." She said it in a sing-song tone, trying to keep things lighter now that they seemed to be swaying from the doomsday conversation. She wasn't entirely calm, and it likely was going to take a bit longer before it'd completely faded off for her now, but if there was one thing she knew: it was how to slap a smile on her face and pretend like no tomorrow everything was all sunshine and cotton candy.
"Well. There's always other avenues to get the info out, too..." She thought of that interview she'd done with the journalist from that magazine and let out a light hum before spinning to catch one of Xanthus' arms in the crook of hers. "C'mon. We're friends. What else are friends good for but listening to s**t you're dealing with and going out for drinks? And fighting hoards of youma. But let's save that for next time." They weren't too far from a random dive bar. She was already starting to move towards it, intent on dragging him with her. "Just for a quick drink. Then you can go wherever. Know my sofa's always open for a friend."
