Two detectives work together to solve the murders of Hilton City! (One possibly less unwilling to have a partner than the other!) Who will they encounter, and what secrets will they uncover?

Looking for people to role play murderers and create some mystery for our detectives. PM me or Wicked Lily if you're interested.

Utterfanatic
Detective Eric Mannaster
27
Male
Stoic; very serious; arrogant; stick in the mud.
Eric's power is the ability to identify different people's bloods. For him, everyone's blood has different smells to them. It's like everyone has their own natural musk, but it stays with your blood and it's a really strong odor for Eric. He can smell it while it's outside your body and while it's inside. The odor, unless especially foul, doesn't leave much of a trace that Eric can smell, so tracking people isn't a thing, unfortunately. But if one has killed another and got the blood on themselves, it will usually leave a faint odor like a skunk. The odor doesn't fade until a month or two later.
Eric drove his previous partners away with his personality. Which he didn't mind. Eric prefers to work alone, but he often tends to break a few rules during his investigations, so his boss assigns him a partner to keep him in line. He's a brilliant detective, but he likes to do things his way.
5'11, dark hair, Caucasian, often wears black or dark colors. Always formal with button-ups, trousers, loafers, and a coat in cooler weathers.

Wicked Lily
Detective Jayleigh Jensen
25
Female
Quick Temper; Quick Learner; 'Shoot first ask questions later'
Her powers are unknown.
Jayleigh got promoted to detective at the age of 23. However, Hilton City has called her and asked her to come, they may need her help with the crimes that occurs in the busy city of Hilton as well be the new partner for a detective. Yet, she was warned that she needs think before acting.

Groaning in frustration, she doesn't understand. Chewing her lip as she waits in line, her almond colored eyes glances around the cafe. She's not quite use to be in the city this busy. At least she woke up four hours early. Granted. It doesn't help that she's nervous so she barely had sleep.

Anxious.

Right. She has seen horrid things. Arrested tough people. Family destroyed. Why is she so nervous about helping to serve this city? Oh right. That's not the problem. The problem is her new partner. Chief of Hiltion's city police station has given her few warnings. Nice of him.

Getting her coffee, she pivots on her heels and started to walk out of the cafe and heads towards the police station. Sipping on the coffee, she adjusts her glasses as she glances towards the street name. When first moving here last week, she has bought a map and studied the street names. She figure it might help her in her job. It was a painful process since she has never been in a city this big.

Finding the police station, she takes in few breaths. 'Knock it off. You faced things worse than this. So what if you got a partner? Maybe he can teach you how to be a better detective.' What that positive remark in mind, she throws away the empty coffee cup and takes a step inside.

Clean. Nice. That's her first expression of the station. Putting on the kind smile, she approaches the cop behind the desk.

"Good Morning. Where is Detective Mannaster's office?"

Her voice strong yet soft. The cop glances at her and pointed down the hallway along with the shake of his head. Jayleigh has no idea that the cops in the station has already started a bet to see how long she would be Eric's partner.

"Thank you."

Walking down the hallways, she finds a door with big black bold letters 'Detective Eric Mannaster'. 'Here goes...' Clenching her hand into a fist, she raises her hand and gently raps the door with her knuckles. What this poor woman does not know that the Chief has very much neglected to inform Eric of his new partner.

A knock came to Eric's door unexpectedly. He had not set up a meeting with anyone. He was sure his day was free today. The silhouette casting over the translucent, patterned glass of his office door did not resemble the large, round one of the chief's. It was a small frame, indicating it was more than likely a woman. But who? The women of the police station often avoided confronting him, along with many of the other officers of this station. It left him with plenty of time to read his books. "Enter," He finally called out to the woman in a cold, bored voice. He shut his book, and laid it gingerly on his clean and organized desk.

Hearing the voice response, her hand rests on the doorknob as she turns it to open the door. Smiling, she closes the door behind him. Glancing around quickly, she notices that his office is clean. Organized. She's curious if the man has OCD. She can test him later for that. First, introductions. He seems a bit bored. Maybe he doesn't care for having a new partner? Her eyes stay on the man, to try to understand his body language. Approaching in front of the desk, she extends her hand in front of the man for him to shake with a friendly smile on her face.

"Morning Detective Mannaster, I'm Detective Jayleigh Jensen from Crystal Falls, I'm very pleased to become your new partner."

Eric's face went from bored to annoyed the second the word "partner" came up. "Again with this." he said under his breath as he leaned back in his chair and picked up his book again to read it. "Go back to the chief and tell him to try at least get me a good looking cop if he's going to pair me with another idiot." The words ran out of his mouth mercilessly and without remorse. He didn't even bother to look up to see her reaction after speaking. Why did the chief have to keep pairing him up? He works better alone.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 20, 2014 1:49 am

Whoa. His body language went from bored to extremely irritated. What did she do wrong? Last she check, her outfit was fine. Her hair was up and fine. Her glasses were clean. What was wrong? Her hand was lowered for a moment before crossing her arms across her chest. Now she's annoyed. Hearing his words, a switch went off in her mind. She didn't care that he wanted a better looking cop. That's his loss. He'll have to deal with her.

"Excuse me? Are you five years old? Stop being an a** and let us deal with this as adults. We are not going to the Chief about this, unless is he your daddy? I'm your partner so you can either learn to deal with it or I can help with that stick up in your a** by shoving it further. If you want a good looking cop, maybe I can get you a stripper and have her dress up like one. Call it our first partnership gift. Do you want a blonde? Maybe size D cups?"

Her teeth roughly grinds together as she finally shuts her mouth. Damn it. She did not want to lose her temper at her first day, but he just brought it out of her somehow. Judging by his reaction after she said the word partner, she assumes that the chief did not let him know she was coming. Great. Right now she feels like a wounded cat that is being back to the corner by rabid hounds. Good thing that Jayleigh knows how to be tough and fight back.

"I'd rather you didn't hire a stripper. Those things carry lots of diseases." Eric retorted casually as he continued to read. "And I'd rather you didn't swear. How are you going to get anywhere cussing out your superiors like that?" The man finally lifted his gaze to the woman, although it looked like he had to pull away from his book to do it. He gave her a good once-over before standing up to place the book back in its place of his bookshelf. "Besides, it was only a simple test. You're decent enough to look at. You won't last long with that attitude though. Poor old Henrick is going to lose his bet. He's so supportive of you little detectives coming in to keep me in check." A finger lingered over the spine of the book after he put it in its proper place. "So tell me," he said before turning to look over his new partner again. "What did the chief say about me?"
PostPosted: Sat Sep 20, 2014 2:25 am

'Exactly my point. Would love to see you get the Clap' Course. She didn't say that out-loud. She has said enough for the time being. A soft scowl escapes from her lips along with the roll of her eyes when he asked her not to swear. He has a point though. While they are partners, he's still a bit of a higher up boss of her. When he stood up, she notices that he has about five inches on her. Sparring right now would do Jayleigh some good. She starts to wonder if they have a training room here in this station. For her sake, she hopes they do. A test? She so badly wants to tell him a lot of things, but her arms tighten across her chest, keeping herself in check. Glaring right at him, she doesn't appreciate him commenting about her attitude when his is just as bad. Bets. Of course. 'Motherf-'

"A lot of things, sir. But they are out of his mouth and not yours. I rather see it for myself."

The least she can do is behave for now. But her glare doesn't lower. She's still not pleased that the man had the nerve to test her. She hates to be tested. If he wanted to know her more, why not ask questions?

"If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been a detective?"

Jayleigh really wanted to know if she is indeed working with an experience detective or someone who may be a bit new. Then again, this city could give any new detective with more knowledge and information then a small town detective would have.

Eric watched the woman speak, although he wasn't really listening to her. What was her name again? Jayda? He thought. He hadn't been listening to her when she introduced herself. Yeah, something like that..
He made a thoughtful sound when he tuned in to be asked how long he's been a detective for. Looking up at the ceiling with his hands in his pockets, he said, "About three years now." Three years, eight months, and fifteen days, to be exact. Eric shrugged slightly. "I started working at age 24."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 20, 2014 2:10 pm

That's it? No response about what she said before asking him the question? She pushes up her silver frame glasses before sighing. She starts to wonder how much he actually paid attention to what she said. Or maybe he just doesn't really care about the chief? Aha. Since she didn't answer his question, he has nothing else to say on the matter. Too many theories. She needs to stop over thinking about this. Walking around his desk, she glances around for any photo frames to indicate if he has closure with his family or not.

Surprise is apparent on her face when he said he has only been a detective for three years now. Almost the same as her. Then why in the world are they are not going to be treated as equals. Scoffing softly, she said nothing else of the matter. Instead, she glances around, curious to where exactly she will be working.

"So. Are we sharing a desk or we are bringing one in here for me?"

The office had nothing indicating family or friends. That was because Eric had none to show off. Naturally, he didn't have friends. Family was a more complicated story, of course. He watched with a stone face as the woman looked around the room, and went to his desk to lean on it. Everything in the office was clean, strict, and business-like. It lacked any personal feeling, and didn't allow much comfort for visitors. Eric didn't care to keep anything in his office that wasn't necessary.
The man raised an eyebrow at the girl's question. He gestured silently to a chair in the corner of the room. "You may occupy that, I suppose." He said, not willing to clutter his room with another desk, or share his.

{{Yes, go ahead. xD Sorry for the late reply!}}

Her almond hues glances towards the corner that he gestured. You have to be kidding. It just have a chair. This man obviously has enough room for another desk but of course he's going to give her a hard time. Not wanting to back down without a fight for her space, she opens her mouth to complain at him. Hearing the door knock, she quickly closes her mouth, her face went from anger to friendly.

"Ah you've met Detective Jensen. You two have a case at this address." He hands Jayleigh the address as she takes it gently and nods. "Any questions? Everything is going along swimmingly?" The round man glances towards Eric; curious to see if the man would complain about being paired up with her.

"Good morning Chief!" She quickly gives the man a friendly hug and a kind kiss on the cheek. She needs to speak fast so Eric can't have a word in. With a bright smile, she glances twoards Eric in a friendly way. "Actually we were discussing, we might move a few things, but we would love it if you have a desk up against the wall right here. We should get going. Thank you!" Giving a bright smile to the chief as she glances towards Eric with a smirk. Meanwhile, the round man cheeks went a bit pink at the woman's friendly charm. 'Two can play that game.' "Detective Mannaster, I think it's fair to let you know that I did not bring my car. Perhaps I can borrow a squad car and we will ride together or should we use yours, sir?"

Eric was about to complain to the chief. His mouth opened, but the woman quickly spoke for him. He resolved to just shut his mouth. He'd deal with the desk situation later, and Chief wouldn't budge from this partnership anyway. He was just excited--though not visibly--for a new case. He did give a look of "I don't like this" to the man briefly before coming over to snatch the files from Detective Jensen. He read through them quickly, not bothering to look up when he spoke. "I have a car. We'll take that. It's less unsightly than those squad cars. You'll drive." And with that, he brushed past the chief. He managed to avoid bumping into anyone as he continued to read through the files. When he got to his car--a sleek black Mercedes--he dug through his coat pocket to get his keys. With a press of a button, he unlocked his vehicle, slid into the passenger seat, and jauntily tossed the keys onto the driver's seat for his partner to pick up.

Feeling a moment of triumph, she has won the battle. For now. She has a feeling that Eric is type of man that doesn't give up that easily. Besides, she hasn't met a detective that does give up easily. It's one of their perks. Being stubborn. Jayleigh was going to call him out for snatching the file out of her hand but after following for a bit, she hears him talk, mentioning that she will drive his car. Ah. Okay then. Part of her is very surprise. Usually men are very possessive about their car that they don't even let their partners drive it until a trust have been earned. The toned woman thinks he either wants to start trusting her or doesn't care about his car at all. Ignoring the assumptions, she doesn't want to assume without knowing the facts. Brown eyes glances around the station and she notices the looks that the people in the station are giving them. Geez. Eric must be one heck of a charmer to everyone. Right. Focus.

Going outside, she follows him and of course. A black Mercedes. Why is she not surprised? Going around the driver's door, she picks up the keys and slides into the driver's seat. "Mind telling me the address?" She questions as she puts the key into the ignition. Yes. She has studied the map for this very purpose. She can't wait to show her worth to him. She is also having a hard time containing her excitement, her first case with Eric.

Eric finished reading the case file. He shut it and plopped it onto Jayleigh's lap. "4223 Greenwares Street. Read that either now, or before we go in, so I don't have to explain anything to you." He order, crossing his arms and legs and proceeding to stare out his window distantly. He doesn't like explaining things to people. It wasted his energy, and you need social skills to really explain something and someone understanding it. "Try to read quickly either way. I won't wait for you forever."
