The young male hyena had not been out on his own long, and truth be told, he was quite happy to be rid of his family. He had waited and waited quite long enough to be old enough to go out on his own and do what he wanted. He was tired of rules and 'helping others' and his mother's nagging and arguing with father. He was tired of sharing with his siblings, and here was the big old world, all before him! Mwani'Mla trotted along with his head held high and proud, headed out into the wide rogue lands to find his own way in life. He looked around as he trotted along, making good time as he wandered. The swamp-colored hyena had absolutely no idea where he was going, but he didn't care. He was finally free!
Of course, while he was examining his surroundings, he was not watching where his feet were falling, and his proud trot soon turned into looking like an idiot, tripping tail over ears. Slick...real slick. He huffed as he rolled into a splayed seated position, and glanced about again. It didn't seem there was anyone around that would have seen that. Thank god. Ani was so embarrassed. He shook his head, which turned into a full-body shake, to get all the dirt and dust out of his fur, and stood hastily, turning in a quick circle to glance about again.
"Real cool." He muttered to himself, returning to sitting and thinking where he should go next. He checked out the horizon, trying to see in the different directions, as if staring off into what he couldn't see would clearly show him the way.
