They really shouldn't have done it but caution always flew away whenever they were together. Pale moonlight flooded the compound and they'd have to move quickly before they were spotted but speed was thankfully one of the few talents the twins possessed. They'd stayed in their rooms long enough to pass the curfew check before Hwan had slipped out and waited for his brother to climb down from the second story window. The nights were getting colder and they wouldn't have many more chances to run around after hours comfortably. Not that winter would really stop them but there was always the risk of snow and that meant footprints. Those would be harder to cover up.
"We should've brought a blanke- one step ahead as always." He glanced over his shoulder at his brother who glanced at the item in his arms and back to him with a pleased smirk. His double always seemed to have planned for everything. Hwan and Jeong had reached the edge of the forest and looked at the dense trees eager to explore them. The urge to see the stars had hit them at dinner and they'd decided to spend the night prowling through the woods. It'd be good practice for the both of them to see if they could survive a night in the wilderness. Put that survival training to use! He ducked under a low hanging tree branch and entered the darkness. The light didn't filter down through the trees well and it was suddenly significantly harder to see.
"Think we'll see any animals tonight?" Hwan put on a devilish grin as if he were greatly looking forward to the possibility but in all honesty, they were ill equipped to handle wolves or anything. The only weapons they had were their fists and any heavy sticks they could come across. He picked on up and tested it's weight. It would do for a nice walking stick, though he didn't need one.
Doutei Got the thread up and started for ya, Dou.

"I see one already." A low chuckle escaped him. Following his brother with an armful of blankets and other supplies, Jeong smiled into the cool night air. It was the perfect temperature for running around but they were going to get colder as the night went on. He knew this was a bad idea, in terms of resting enough for tomorrow, but every once in a while they had to do something stupid to get it out of their system. Besides, he hadn't fully explored these woods yet and it was on his to-do list.
"Let's go right this time." They'd reached the fork in their path that would take them to a hidden little pond if followed to the left. An uncomfortable thought arose when he thought about going to the pond tonight so Jeong opted to explore in the other direction. It was dark so it was risky to tromp off without having a good way of telling where they were going but with his brother beside him Jeong felt invincible. Or, well, at least energized. Hwan had a great way of making him want to make the impossible possible, just to hear that laugh.
The trail was sharp and winding, with plenty of obstacles to climb over. He couldn't tell if the logs here had been from trees falling naturally or some trainee taking out their aggression with some borrowed equipment. It was kind of pretty though, seeing the forest become overrun with plant life and moss. Eventually they reached a meadow with the remains of a past campground. It looked a few years past but the tell tale signs of a fire pit of stones and some abandoned logs stood out to him, even with the limited light. By now a circle of wild flowers had grown around the site, giving it a peaceful feeling.
It was perfect.
"We'll sleep here tonight. And later. I've been looking for a place like this." Jeong grinned and dropped their supplies near the log circle. He wasn't ready to go to bed yet and knew Hwan wasn't either. They still had lots to explore and plenty to plan now that they'd found a secluded spot for their parties. It was too small in it's current state but after fixing up it would do just right.

The meadow was breathtaking, the remains of summer's last colorful flowers bathed in a pale silver light. The space was impressive and almost reminded him a little of Bindau, patches of pure wilderness just a few minutes walk away from the small town. That was something he missed that the bigger cities like Trost didn't offer. He wondered how Yoon-su was adjusting to that.
"We should build a shelter out here. Keep a stash of stuff we can't keep in the dorms here." Laughter spilled out of him as he imagined the crazy things they could do out here. It was the perfect spot to host a laid back party or store a little booze or extra food. The shelter wouldn't be anything big or grand, just a place to put a roof and guard against the wind some. Maybe they could move some of the logs later. Jeong looked itching to get moving and Hwan dropped his bag and joined his side.
"A little creepy to think out there, we couldn't do this. Titans'd could be everywhere in a forest like this." He normally didn't talk about the nervousness or fear he felt about venturing outside the walls. He didn't want to talk up a big game in front of the others and then admit that he was scared of dying. But alone with Jeong, he was safe. He could talk about anything. He ducked under some branches and lifted his legs up to climb over some thick bushes.
"I wonder what's really out there. If only we could end the titans, I bet we'd get enough land to build an empire!" The house back in Trost was more than big enough but Hwan couldn't help but always look for the next biggest grandest thing. He envisioned tall red towers with purple and green flags. It would be magnificent.
"Wow, look at that stump!" Ahead of them was the remains of a gigantic tree stump, at least the side of a table. The log was nearby and it looked like it'd been hollowed out though Hwan wasn't sure by what. Light didn't penetrate inside but it was more than tall enough for them to walk into.
"I dare you to go in there." Brown eyes glinted mischievously hinting at a far worse punishment if the dare was not met.
