There was nothing like getting one's a** handed to you to make you want to try harder...at least, for Aegir. After Halite's mauling he'd taken some time to recuperate and seek out some information via Thraen and the Senshi Primer - reading that had made him quiet for a few days, but his usual energetic nature had soon kicked in. And so he'd gone back out on patrol, picking a night when he wouldn't be missed at home - Björn had some obligation or other and he saw no reason to hang out at home taking bets as to whether Nishcal was in or not.

Powered up in godawful fuku, Sailor Aegir prowled some of his old haunts for a while and eventually ended up in a tree, mentally distracted by thinking about what he'd like to do if he ever got his hands on the Nega-b***h Halite. Or that dark-haired Captain with the totem-pole bludgeon. He should have been paying better attention to his surroundings, not contemplating revenge.

Or maybe he was developing a taste for being beaten up?

It was early into the swing of a patrol, so it wasn't very surprising that he'd not had any contact from Lieutenants needing to report, energy drops, or any other powered individual of any kind friend or foe. Not until crossing a block-

There was an itch at the furthest edge of his awareness. It was an order signature, but he couldn't make it out. Titan waited for a minute, gauging that it wasn't moving at all. It was worth a look- it could be anything from someone wounded and gasping, to a trap, to having fallen asleep like he'd first found Sailor Leda. The run didn't take long, and the signature didn't move. It wasn't encouraging, so he summoned his hammer to hand just in case he needed it.

Once he was near the nexus of the signature, Titan walked down the street scanning rooftops and either sidewalk for person silhouettes. Nothing was especially standing out. There is a scout here. Somewhere? But where?

From his perch in the trees he'd set himself up to have a good vantage point on any chaos agent that came his way and it was only his preoccupation and distraction that allowed the chaos signature to 'creep up' on him. It seemed to him that there had been nothing...until there was. An unfamiliar-yet-familiar in the way that all Negaverse energy signatures were familiar; the sensation of it crawling along his spine strong enough to make him get his teeth. Strong, but not wholly oppressive, it called to mind nothing so pleasant as nightmares and his stomach dropped even as he told himself to get over it.

Aegir slowly leaned so he could try visual identification, hopefully without being seen himself. Walking down the street and coming towards him was a huge guy with a freaking skull on one shoulder and a hammer resting against the other. 'Jesus Christ, that guy's huge! What are they feeding him?'

Oh yeah. Starseeds, probably. <******** such a dangerous looking potential opponent and his most recent failures in mind, Aegir wanted to just melt into the tree and disappear, but he told himself that it was his job, his duty to at least confront this guy and see why he was walking around with a massive hammer. Maybe he'd be lucky and the guy was just uh, out looking for spiders to kill or something?

Probably not. 'Knowing my luck, this isn't gonna end well.' The curly-haired senshi sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose as though that might somehow help his situation.

Mindful of his balance on the branch, the Senshi of Silence rose to his feet and found himself thinking of St. Micheal's Prayer - he wasn't Catholic but his cousin was and had often recited it before charging in to help Colin in a fight. It made him smile to recall the words and took only a moment to mentally recite it - couldn't hurt, and he needed all the help he could get, from the looks of this guy.

Placing a gloved hand to his hip, Aegir used the other to whistle at Titan. "Up here, handsome. You out looking for trouble or just walking your pet hammer?"

The whistle made for a brief more hurried scan around and up until his attention finally found the pale fuku and upshot of leotard of the scout standing in a sea of autumn foliage. A scout he knew, kind of, though of memories long months made vague and tattered-

"Aegir!" It wasn't spoke loud, rather an exhalation on sudden breath. He remembered throwing targets for the scout when not in uniform. Before he had a uniform? And then....nothing. He'd been himself cornered in the celebrations of athleticism at the Hunger Games Marathon and he'd not seen Aegir in all the days since then. How had he come to know the scout in the first place? Where had the man gone?

"I look for lesser officers, to take their reports and make certain they are safe. The seasons of this war change, and leave many wounded on both sides on the field, and I would rather not see them left in pain. It used to be different with wars. And you?" Handsome....was the scout hitting on him? Did senshi do that? He couldn't remember a senshi ever hitting on him before.

Once he had Titan's attention, he kept still until the blond behemoth was able to locate him, expression guarded - at least, until he heard his name coming from the guy's mouth. How in the name of all that was holy did this Negaverse agent know his name? He absolutely had to find out.

With a little bounce the Senshi came down from his perch and landed neatly below, jaw set and green eyes watching Titan warily; if he'd thought the guy was big from above, standing on level ground near him made his size all the more pronounced.

"I see." Aegir frowned for a moment, his wondering about the whys and hows of the chaos agent's knowing who he was superseded by the unknown hammer-wielding fellow's odd words. Odd for a Negaverser - or at least odd for those he'd met most recently. "That's awfully decent of you. I'm trying to make sure no civilians get hurt. Or was."

"Now I'm wondering how it's fair that you know my name but I don't know yours." With a mischievous grin Aegir leaned back against the tree and nodded his head toward Titan's hammer, trying for nonchalance but ending up sounding like more of a flirt than usual. "Or should I just call you Thor?"

The irony of calling a guy dressed like a comic-book villain after one of "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" wasn't lost on the Senshi of Silence, he just couldn't think of anything that suited better right then. Big, blond and weilding a hammer? Thor. Definitely.

He had not meant the civilians, but they were as much included in those left to suffer on the field of battle's wake and slumber.

"Not long ago I was among them. Allmosa är till fromma både för den som får och för den som ger." These are my people. The serve the Queen and she must serve through our protection of them. The Queen takes taxes in energy and hours, and she sees their lives and land increased. I am a finger of her hand.

"It is for this home I fight. The right throne of it. " The dismount from the tree prompted the hammer to be brought to up from his side to ready- the haft in one and the head resting in the palm of the other before himself like a physical barrier.

"Thor is an honor I do not deserve. I am only a man. Titanlåvenite. 'Titan', is enough."

"What are you doing, perched like a bird in the trees?"

He cocked his head and lifted one brow at the use of another language. Of course the big guy would speak some Norsk sounding language. Of course he would, that really was Aegir's luck. Attractive agent of chaos speaks like a damned viking and carries around a massive hammer.

"Maybe there's hope for you yet, handsome." He might not have understood what Titan said, but the sentiment could be felt, if one cared to. "Fighting for the Earth...that's one thing. I understand that, its what I'm doing. But who's to say you guys have the right of it, that your methods are fair and just?" He shrugged as the Captain shifted, not moving from where he leaned against the tree, "Most of the Senshi I know don't want anything for the Earth but that it's people are safe. Can you say that? I've fought many of your people after they attacked a non-combatant for their star seed. Whether I win or lose a skirmish, those civilians are still the ones hurt. And I'm not okay with that."

"If your people aren't supposed to be tearing the life out of people, you might wanna talk to Halite or that girl with the totem-staff, 'cause she nearly killed someone when interrupted." Aegir sighed a little, rubbing at the healing scar hidden under one glove - he'd been lucky, survived. The guy Halite had been after hadn't been so lucky. No, he didn't much care about some throne or who's balls were bigger or whatever the hell this war was really about, he just wanted to protect people. If the Negaverse meant for the same thing - truly meant for it - then he had no real quarrel with Titan.

"Quite a mouthful...Titan it is." He put both hands up as if to say that he was harmless - just look at him! "Resting for a bit before continuing on patrol. Trees give me a better range of vision." Aegir's lips quirked a bit, "And....I admit, I was thinking some rather uncharitable things about some of your peers."

Titanlåvenite's brows furrowed, all the more uncertain about the repeated use of 'handsome' instead of rank or name. Was it really flirting? Insult? It was hard to tell combined with the rest of the sailor's flippancy. Maybe he was really nervous, and trying to put on an over-done act? Or maybe he was just that confident in his magic even faced with a captain. Considering some of the spells Titan had been subjected to himself, that wasn't out of reckoning.

"The throne says. You are foreign nobles who have not sought pardon, not paid for passage, not sworn fealty to the throne that rules Earth. Until you do, you are trespassing against the throne in an act of invasion and war."

"The throne does not take its due tax in metal or paper. It values energy to safeguard its claim. Could you, alone on your planet, defend yourself from your energy alone against tens or hundreds of other senshi and knights seeking to settle on your planet against your will? The energy to protect a kingdom must come from somewhere- The Throne protects its people, but its people must provide for the army to do so."

His expression shifted, disapproval at the un-present more than any way at Aegir, "There are a few recruited who are not much better than animals. They know not honor or purpose, and they are not worthy. It is not my place to correct them, that lays with the Throne." He didn't know either of the supposed agents the man described, but it was plausible that they were real and acted exactly how he said.

"Take the knee before the Konge. If you are here to stay, to protect this word, then oath your lands and self as vassal to the throne. "

Thankfully Titan had no way of knowing that Aegir's chances of besting him - or anyone that actually knew how to fight - without help were slim to nil. He certainly wasn't going to let the brutish-looking man know that he was hoping to not have to fight. Where was a really big stick when you needed it? Oh yeah...in Titan's hands. Right.

"I was born here, thanks, I'm not 'passing through'. The Earth is my home too, Titan, but I can't recall any throne that rules the whole of it." Minor monarchies ruling over small sections didn't count in this case, he was pretty sure. Crossing his arms over his chest, Aegir set his jaw stubbornly - the way he did when someone told him something he absolutely knew wasn't true. "So maybe I've got some weird reincarnated-soul thing going on, I've got just as much right here as you do."

For a moment, he wondered why - why he'd been 'awakened', why Derpraline had bothered - and why it was he felt as if he knew this Middle-Ages-looking guy when there was no possible way that he could. 'That's actually a good question...but I'd bet not. No...I get his point but we're from Earth too, dammit..we're not settling here, we were born here!' Not that Titanlåvenite seemed overly inclined to see things his way..every word, muscle twitch and expression on the big blond hammer-wielding energy-signature-like-a-captain-and-built-like-a-brick-house-guy made his stomach sink further.

"So, they're ignoring orders? I'll give you that it's possible...those girls were rabid and I've met some of your 'friends' that weren't. Even some creepy red-headed General that said the same things you are...that the Negaverse wasn't doing much in the way of murder anymore, and yet I've still had fight after fight to protect civilians from death...that shouldn't happen--" Arguing semantics with Titan wasn't going to get him anywhere, that had become increasingly obvious - he was clearly stubborn and believed that what he was doing (and how it was being done too) were the Right Ways. Aegir wasn't going to change his mind, not in one encounter or probably ever...he just hoped that he'd get away from this zealot before he started something.

As was his luck, that's precisely where Titan went:. Ordering him to bow down and give over to the Negaverse to prove he wanted to protect the Earth, that he belonged here. s**t/ There was no way he'd get out of this without a fight now. And what the hell was with the Ye Olde English bullshit With a steadying breath, the Senshi of Silence dropped his arms to his sides and straightened his shoulders, curling his hands into fists as he gave the Negaverse captain a frank look.

"Believe me or not, I've spoken true on my purpose." His lips curved into a grin his friends would have said meant they were all about to get arrested and he reached up to push his curly hair from his forehead, "Hate to reject your 'offer', but there's only one person I kneel before willingly...and he isn't here."

"You didn't know about magic before a cat came to you. Because you do not know does not mean it does not exist. The Throne doesn't need your approval to rule, it already does. "

Titan shrugged, unperturbed by Aegir's smiles or intimations of ....whatever it was he was trying to get at regarding kneeling. He had sneaking suspicion, and it was as strange to even bring up to an enemy. But with the genders implied, it became a little clearer that yes, this entire time the senshi scout had been hitting on him.

I barely remember whatever time we shared before, but ...I don't remember this attitude. Maybe because I am in a Negaverse uniform now. Teenagers are never kind to enemies. He was a teenager? I don't know.

"You can take the knee by choice, or you will fall to it in despair. You can become vassal by choice, or by conquest. Choose." He shifted the Hammer and stance more ready. "Or run."

"I won't deny that what you're saying is true - I didn't know about magic before Pray 'woke' me to it...and some mystical monarchy has little need for my approval. But I can't just blindly accept it, either. I might be gullible, but I wasn't born yesterday." Or it might only have been due to all the recent butt-kickings he'd been given by the Negaverse and it's emissaries that had him so reluctant to accept where he might once have nodded and agreed entirely. Pain could jade someone like nothing else.

Titan's ultimatum rankled and made him want to grab that hammer and whack the Negaverse officer with it, but it also made Aegir feel very tired and very sad. So much for good memories! Clearly the offered choices weren't good ones for him, not with his record and most especially not when he couldn't remember this guy... but was clearly remembered by him. Questions he'd rather were answered if possible but would likely remain mysteries.

"You know, I think once I would have accepted your offer, joined without reservation, but now I just can't. I've seen too much hurt down that route to take it willingly, if at all." Green eyes watched the hammer carefully, wary of any attack sent his way. "Boy, you are one scary guy, you know that? I don't want to fight you...not if we were once friends....so I guess I should run, huh?"

Except that he'd never run from a fight yet - not even when he was clearly at a disadvantage. Call it stupidity or even insanity, it was something that would likely get him killed some day, but he'd always been cocky; the sort of guy that didn't know his limits until he was thrown into them head-first. "You sure we can't go back to the part where you were happy to see me instead?"

Ivynian
PostPosted: Sun Jan 25, 2015 9:46 pm

"Whether I am happy to see you or not, you bring sadness on yourself like a cloak. You deny the rights of the throne, and you do not offer sign or reason for truce. It will be my duty to bring you to the Konge, to answer to them why you will not kneel to the protection and vassalage. " Titan considered hard, looking at the man. "But you speak of a fairness. We have been talking, and it should be ended well. When I find you again, Aegir, if you do not come willingly, it will be battle. Tonight was for memory. It will not be so again."

The captain half turned, wary of an attack of opportunity for a moment from so bold and spitfire a source. FInally he turned completely, back to the senshi to walk away, back as he'd come. Back to the dark.

"Titan..." Aegir started, but then stopped himself and instead gave the bigger man a sad little smile because while there would be no point to arguing further, he couldn't help wanting this person to see. The Negaverse wasn't really giving anyone the ability to protect those they cared for - no matter what he himself once might have started believe.

So when the black-clad hammer wielder began to turn completely Aegir had to fight the urge to reach out and stop him, an aborted motion that held no malice or indication of fight. "You seem like a good man...I hope you don't lose that."

Aegir watched the darkness slowly swallowing Titan and spoke softly at his back, "I-- Whatever else, I have to keep fighting for the ones I love. Isn't there someone you want to protect?" Not that he expected a response, there was something very final seeming to Aegir about Titan's manner and words. Something almost sad.

He would be standing there a long while before heading home to seek out the comfort and company of his love.
